Is the Price Right?

I don't see the problem with ruffling the depth chart.  I'd much rather bring someone in who can challenge for a starting spot than bringing someone in solely for the purpose of being a #4.

I don't think you can rule out either Price or Warrick, but it is highly unlikely.  It hurts the fact that neither would be on the coverage team of special teams, although Warrick might be a temporary solution as a return man.

I would have agreed with that completely is we weren't right on top of the season. I just don't see a lot of advantage to Price. He sucked in Atlanta (granted he isn't a number one and had a running back throwing to him but he still sucked). I doubt he would come to the Eagles with the knowledge that he would start so lw on the dpeth chart and have to learn a rather complex offense. And I think the Eagles would only sign him for one year meaning that no matter how well he played he'd be gone, along with TO after this season. I just don't see it.

I don't know man. I've had a couple of crappy jobs and I much prefered being unemployed. Nothing but camelbacks full of rum and coke, video games and porn. Living on the dole rules.

If Price comes here, it'll be as the #2 (outside) receiver opposite Owens, while Lewis will primarily play the slot.

REASON #1324 THAT PRICE WILL NOT BE AN EAGLE: See if you can follow me on this one folks. Price would only go somewhere to be the #2 or #1 on a team. The Eagles would only sign him for one year. TO will be gone after this year. If we sign Price, both our #! and #2 receivers would be gone after this season. It's not going to happen.

We could sign him to a multi-year deal, front-loaded of course to protect ourselves, and we'd have an insurance policy just in case Owens does depart next season.

I hope there is no "just in case" about it. The guy's a grade-a fleshpopsucker.

Instead of signing a guy to walk right in to be the #4 guy, shouldn't we sign a guy who is #2 quality like Warrick is capable of or Price and let them make forge their own destiny? Do you honestly think the FO says "Hey let's go after Mccants. He isn't as good as Lewis or Brown so he can be our 4th guy." You think that is what they do? I think when they get together they say something like "OK let's bring in the most talented players and see what spot they earn on this team."

Why in the hell would you want to stunt the growth of Lewis and Brown? THEY are our #2 and #3 WRs. There is no need for a guy like Warrick or Price on the team! We're already SET with our 1-2-3 WRs.

Let it go. Cripes.

Set? When you are a football team you never should be set. You should ALWAYS welcome someone to come in and improve the team. What does it hurt to bring Warrick or Price in? I'm sorry, but if they come in and play better than Lewis or Brown then they take the job. Wouldn't the Eagles welcome that? Wouldn't the Eagles always want their team to be better? If you bring in a player and he turns out to be better then it is nothing but good for your team. If they aren't better then we have quality players at depth. Warrick is still young, was the 4th pick overall and IMO still has a chance to be a stud.

Thank you Monster, someone else is making sense here.

How bringing in someone with the proven talent to be an NFL starter stunts the growth of younger receivers is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.  At the very minimum, it makes them play harder knowing that there's someone else waiting to take their spot.

It's stubborn and stupid to think that just because we have people at the moment in the #2 and 3 spots, that they are the best possible situation.

PoopyfaceMcGee

It's also fairly bone-headed to think Peerless Price would come to the Eagles for a reasonable dollar amount with absolutely no promise of starting.  He was beaten out by Dez White in Atlanta, so don't you think he'd be a little bit concerned about being buried on the depth chart in Philadelphia?

WEST is GOD

You could say that, but keep in mind Price is the one who called the Eagles. The Eagles didn't call him. If he didn't want to come here, he wouldn't have made the call.
