Good first episode. I think the hardest part is going to be forgetting what I know of Roman history so that I don't know story lines in advance. Of course they might not stay that true to history ala deadwood which would be fine....

I am excited to see Extras.

Is this the Ricky Gervais thing? I think it's a joint BBC/HBO venture.

yeah it said something about from the creators of "the office" or something like that... no?

HBO Unveils 'Extras,' 'Enthusiasm' in September

A new season of the Emmy-winning comedy "Curb Your Enthusiasm" will premiere on HBO in September.

The premium cable giant announced on Friday (July 15) that the fifth season of "Enthusiasm" will launch on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. ET, following a new episode of the drama "Rome." The Larry David comedy will be followed by the series premiere of "Extras," the new series from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant of "The Office."

HBO has few hints about the new season of "Curb," which has earned three Emmy nominations for outstanding comedy series except to offer that like previous series, it will be limited to 10 episodes.

"Extras" features Gervais as Andy Millman, whose career is stuck in background extra parts. The series features cameos from a wide variety of industry heavyweights including Ben Stiller, Samuel L. Jackson and Kate Winslet. Be sure to savor "Extras," though, because the show's first series is only six episodes long.

Yeah, it's the same people from The Office. They have just shown the first series here. Only saw a few, didn't think it was as quite as funny as The Office, but there are some great lines. Saw bits of the Ben Stiller one, which was OK, the Samuel L Jackson one is the most cringeworthy one I saw (but in a good way), but Patrick Stewart flat out steals the show in his one. His description of his film pitch is hilarious!

I'll give Rome another shot over Thanksgiving holiday. I caught the first 5 minutes of the first episode and got distracted by Bullworth on HBO2.

Did catch Entourage rap up its stellar second season. This show is just awsome all around. I was only dissapointed by the lack of nudity this season. Give us what we want!
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Entourage finale sucked IMO. The one before was awesome.

Rome gets a lot better. IMO the 2nd and 3rd episodes were awesome. I just watched the 3rd on demand. Titus Pullo is the man. Lucius is the man too.

I started watching Rome, not too bad so far. The 2nd episode was better than the first but now it's starting to show a bit where the series is going, so that's a plus. The first episode seemed fairly sporadic in terms of direction.

WEST is GOD

The 3rd episode is better than the 2nd. It just keeps getting better. I love this series. Also it's pretty realistic and accurate in terms of history as well. The battle in the beginning of the first episode was exactly how they used to fight. Very accurate. Also in Rome, even today, there are penises drawn all over the place, like in the show.

Anyone know how far they plan to go? Will it end with the death of Ceasar or do they intend to get into the Emperors also?

WEST is GOD

No idea. We'll find out soon enough.

Do you find Polly Walker extremely hot in that show? She plays Atia. I think she looks really hot in it, and you see her nude multiple times.

Yes, very attractive, and more importantly she can act and she plays her role well. So far the whole cast is very well chosen and the setting as well as the cinematography is top notch. I didn't have high hopes for the show given the previews but they're doing justice to Ancient Rome. I really hope they delve into the Emporers before the fall or Rome. That'd make for good viewing.
