Is the Price Right?

Price could learn a lot by watching Carlos play.  I say bring him in.

Clayton on NFL Live said the Pats, Cowboys, and forget who else contacted Price, and that Price called up the Eagles and the Seahawks.

I saw on another board where Clayton supposedly said the Eagles were talking to Warrick. Price's agents may have called the Eagles because although alluring as it might sound to play for the defending Pats, where and how is he going to play?

I'd take Price for the following reasons:

-- He's not a true #1 but would probably thrive in a secondary role See: Buffalo -- Moulds
-- Obviously he's pissed off with the Falcons, so what better way to stick it up their rear than by playing for their rival and a chance at possibly coming back to hurt them week 1, in Atl, on the national stage
-- Won't get a long term deal this late in the game, so he'd probably accept a 1 year 'audition for a future contract' ala Shawn Barber
-- If worse comes to worse he'd be the 4th best WR on this team regardless of what happens
-- I don't remember any clubhouse/off the field problems with him.

Yes, bring him in.  It's been said but he's probably a good fit as a #2 receiver and IMO he just didn't have a good QB to throw to him.  His value cannot have dropped that much since the time he left Buffalo.

Here's my thoughts from a post on the EMB:

QuotePeerless, at the absolute best, would be no better than the 4th most important skill player on our offense. Defenses would be so concerned with matching up on TO or Westbrook, Peerless would just about ALWAYS be in single coverage... and not even against the top CB. Me thinks he could be more than serviceable in that situation.

If he can't beat out Lewis or Brown, hey... no problem, but we've improved our depth and experience at the position since we'd have someone other than TO with more than 23 career receptions. Since the Falcons cut him, we wouldn't have to deal with his big contract... which let's face it... is the real reason he's no longer a Falcon.

We don't need him to be a game-changer, but the potential for him to do so is certainly there.

1. While I wouldn't mind him here, I agree with IGY that Reid is likely to go after a guy who will be a 3/4 type and contribute on STs.

2. I'd only take him for the minimum.

3. I actually prefer Warrick right now to him.

I'd be interested if Philly took him at more than the minimum, but not much more.  I think he could be a contributer based on his likely single coverage (as EagleFeva said)

i dont see any harm in this move. cut mcmullen sign price and use lewis and brown as well. if he isnt up to snuff he can be depth. sign him to a 1 yr contact.

I don't know if I like Warrick the more I read about him. He seems real whiney, he has had nagging injuries over the past few seasons, and just doesn't seem there mentally.

Yeah, sure, Peerless blew up a tad with a reporter in his face after he got cut, but I mean come on. He just lost a jackload of money very quickly and people are all up in his face about what he thinks about being cut. I would have reacted the same way "get the hell out of my face, I just lost millions of dollars!"

I'm actually surprised that the Falcons didn't contact Price beforehand so he didn't have to report to their training facility and be told then to go home.

I just think that maybe Price has better character, knows how to flurish in a #2 role, and can be a guy that can stretch the field.

And as someone else pointed out, he doesn't have to be the #2 on the depth chart, but he would play the "traditional" #2 role - being lined up on the outside opposite of TO.

I think it could be a good addition at a cheap price. Hopefully Peerless has something to prove and would sign for the minimum, or at least close to it.

If he wants to be here for one year I will take him up on that offer. It's not like we are going to spend tons of cap space anymore this year. One year can't hurt.

Id say no to Price, until I notice Billy McMullen is the Eagles #4.    That will make you think funny things.

Give me him or Warrick at this point. I don't even care anymore. Just one. We need some friggin depth!

Exactly... see if he goes for the 1 yr deal and put him out there with something to prove.  I guess I just don't see the downside to the move.  We don't spend a ton on him... he'll give us some WR depth and he can potentially return to his old form in Buffalo because he doesn't have to be the man.

At absolute worst, we gave our 4th WR (I refuse to put him below Wilbur) a 1 year deal...

Exactly, but the Eagles love their receivers.

The Eagles are great in free agency, and know when to pay and when to not pay, but when it comes to receivers they are extremely cheap. Other than with TO where it took a world of convincing from Marty and Donovan, and a sitdown with TO.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they thought Mcmullen was fine.

It took that because Reid somehow magically knew that Owens is a farging nutjob. Prior to TO, there were no WRs available via free agency worth a damn - kind of like Price and Warrick.
