I'll do Jay a solid here: we all know it's meaningless preseason but players on the D who will contribute this season (Milton Williams/Jordan Davis/Nakobe Dean/Davion Taylor) looked like complete shtein against the 2nd string browns offense run by a qb I've never heard of. They didn't just look bad they looked overmatched. Again I realize it's preseason but flip to offense where Jurgens looks like Kelce and there's a little cause for concern. Based off tc reports Jordan Davis sounded like a future pro bowler, today he looked like an average dt who fired out too high and couldn't shed a block. Maybe they don't want him crashing pockets and shooting gaps who knows but they looked sluggish.

The amount of legit takeaways you can have from a preseason game these days is minimal. Especially Game 2, where the guys who are locks are giving minimal effort to avoid injury and the plays are vanilla as can be.

Jurgens was very good, Kary Vincent was very bad, beyond that I didn't see anything that stood out in a way that I would draw conclusions from.

Saw the replay last night on NFLN and there were maybe 10K in the stands in Cleveland.  No one wanted to be there.  Just make these games school excursions, charge nothing and fill the stands with screaming kids from summer fun.

peter king wrote about the idea i had years ago which is to make the games controlled scrimmages

they can come up with some kind of scorekeeping thing to make it competitive but you basically take what the two teams did weds and thurs except do it on tv at the stadium in front of paying customers.

it shouldnt be hard to come up with some kind of universal thing to follow, like 20 plays 1s v 1s, 20 plays 2s vs 2s, 10 plays red zone/goal line, mock 2 minute drill, etc. it would be vastly more entertaining and interesting than these games which hold zero value whatsoever

Down to 80 today. Cut three obscure camp bodies and put Brett Toth and Tyree Jackson on Reserve/PUP.

It'll be interesting to see who survives the WR and S competitions, and maybe they'll add a power RB via trade, but the rest of the team seems more or less set.
