hiring offensive coaches for the sake of it is a giant pet peeve of mine

tomlin, mcdermott, belichick, carroll, harbaugh, vrabel...some of the best coaches in the league are defensive guys.

Obviously take the best candidate regardless but all things equal I'd almost prefer a defensive HC so I could get dedicated offensive coordinators and coaches who focus solely or almost solely on the qb and aren't burdened by being the ceo of the team

I think a lot of the focus on offensive head coaches has been to avoid the trap of having your playcaller poached by another team if he has any success. Belichick the genius got around that problem by having a toxic human as his successful OC.

But for some of these franchises that are reeling, I think you pick for leadership qualities first and worry about the Xs and Os later.

thats always been my thinking...the ravens and steelers are consistently good teams and cycle through OC's. owners get hard ons for payton, mcvay, etc. and want to copy that

first off sean mcdermott broke the cardinal rule of andy which is not let your coaches poach your coaches when they get hired...the second is the giants are pathetically becoming bills south but without their mvp qb. we'll see how it goes.

Damon Arnett pulled a gun on a valet in Vegas last night and is sitting in jail right now.   One hopes the judge will leave him there.

Chiefs cut him immediately this morning.  I hadn't noticed they picked him up after he was dumped by the Raiders for making death threats with a gun online.

Raiders had two ones last year, both out of the league and in jail (or going there soon.)
