Goes to show how the thinking about fourth downs has changed so much. These days I'm not even sure it would be considered that dumb by Switzer. You have Emmitt Smith behind that insane line, with a fullback running in front of him. Eagles weren't exactly stopping him that game (or ever). Gary Anderson wasn't an automatic kicker from 40+ yards and in actual fact the Cowboys got the ball back with decent time left and drove into Eagle territory.

ive thought about this too...its the right call in a lot of spots. not there. the eagles offense was abysmal that game. they werent putting together a drive to get points. in a different game with a better offense its 100% okay to do it, just with perhaps a more creative playcall

ive rewatched the sequence more times than i can count...it was peak madden. he was belligerently angry the cowboys went for it and began openly rooting for the eagles. he was also by himself since summerall was a fossil by that point and had no clue what was going on

He was also one billion percent wrong on the ref and the two minute warning...if the clock hits 200 before the snap the play is dead it has nothing to do with the ref and what and when he calls anything

Just blatantly incorrect and out of touch shtein from him

he had no idea what was going on....it was a bit confusing since the snap and the 200 happened simultaneously. hes not a trained broadcaster, probably not seeing ideal replays in the booth and his play by play guy is half asleep/in the bag

dont disparage the goat. if this happens with republican zealot al michaels, al is on it and the whole thing is much cleaner

I never noticed until now that Ed Hochuli was the ref in that game.

1995 was one of my favorite seasons. That was the first year I went to training camp. I was 15 and home for the summer. I'd catch a septa bus from Pville to KOP and then up to West Chester. Some days I'd walk from the bus stop to the fields.

Took a ton of great pics. Access was easy there and I got my pic taken with Randall. When Ricky Watters signed autographs he did it from the passenger seat of his suburban with his sytem thumping so hard your face rattled.

That team was a collection of old hangers on, nobodies and a few good players. I was excited that they whipped the Lions bc it meant I'd get to see them in Dallas. By that time I'd turned 16 and drove myself up to go to the game. 30-11 loss.

my first real football memory was this year...i was coming back from nathan roth's 8th birthday party (my cuck father didnt think to say to my oblivious mother hey theres a massive birds game, the boy stays home) and listened to 4th and 1 in the car. didnt full comprehend what was going on, but i was happy they won and vividly remember the lions beatdown

Nobody listens to Madden for his football knowledge. He's a lovable fat guy who's a goof. That's his schtick and he owned it. Madden/Summerall name me a better announcing team.
