perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Looks like the first count of impeachment is officially passed.

Munson

Hell yeah.

I know it'll go nowhere in the Senate but still love to see it happen. Needed to happen.

Honestly he should have been impeached two years ago for emoluments and shtein.

The second article passes as well.

Two Democrats voted against the first article, and three against the second.

Zero Republicans have broken rank.  It has truly become the Party of Trump.

Justin Amash voted yes to both articles.

For historical comparison:

Clinton faced four articles of impeachment in the House in 1998.

Article 1:  Perjury
Republicans voted 223 in favor, 5 opposed
Democrats voted 5 in favor, 200 opposed
The lone independent (Sanders) opposed

Article 2:  Obstruction of Justice
Republicans voted 216 in favor, 12 opposed
Democrats voted 5 in favor, 199 opposed, 1 absent
The lone independent opposed

Article 3: Perjury failed 205-229 (the same 5 Democrats voted in favor)

Article 4: Abuse of Power failed 148-285 - One Democrat (Gene Taylor) voted in favor; Taylor changed affiliation to Republican in 2014.

On the same day of the vote to impeach Clinton, Republican Speaker-designate Bob Livingston withdrew from the appointment and announced his resignation (delayed six months) after allegations of his own extramarital affair surfaced courtesy of Larry Flynt.

"So I did the bare minimum for your dead husband who served in congress for decades, what a bitch you are for voting to impeach me. Also, your husband might actually be in hell."

i would just let this impeachment hang in the air for the next year. dont go to the senate. the next headline people are going to notice is TRUMP ACQUITTED.

no sense in giving him that

Not a bad idea.

What an unhinged farging lunatic. How this Cheeto Dick jackass has gotten the GOP into lockstep amazes me.

ice grillin you

let it hang out there then you get a year of trump and his minions screaming about how the dems are scared because they know they have nothing and never did....this was all a witch hunt by the house just to impeach the president etc...

theres not a person in the country that doesnt know hes getting acquitted by the senate

mitch mcconnel already said he is working with the white house to prepare for a senate trial...put that on blast...lindsay graham already said his mind is made up...well make him say it in a trial

acquittal is already a foregone strictly political result...but if you dont have the trial then everything before it looks like it was for show....i would press hard as farg for witness testimony and when trump and mcconnell refuse then make that the headline for as long as you can...then go forward with a trial pointing out how shook trump is that mcconnell wont allow any testimony on his behalf because there is none that will exonerate him and in fact any witnesses that would testify would actually make trump look more guilty
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

I like the idea of making Amash one of the managers sent over from the House

If the Senate doesn't allow witnesses, simply have them "testify" in the court of public opinion.

Hold news conferences with them before the Senate charade even begins.  Get it all out there in the public record.

If Bitch McConnell and his punk buddy Scarlett O'Graham have a problem with it, they can cram it up their asses with a red hot poker.

While I appreciate the point they're trying to make (illustrating a polaristic divide based job sectors) without acknowledging or accounting for gerrymandering, their point is moot

Bolton, Mulvaney, et al. refused to appear before Congress.  What makes you think someone could get them to hold new conferences and "testify?"
