On the bad side

Hot Wheels Greg Abbott won reelection for governor. So did his evangelical scumbag Lt Gov.

Our attorney general, under indictment, won by 300k votes.

pennsylvania politics are mystifying

trump got 52% of the vote in berks....barletta got 47%
hillary got 48% in bucks....casey got 56
hillary got 82 in philly...casey got 86
trump farging won erie but then casey did

white people.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

its not that mystifying when it comes to casey...hes massively pro life which is a big reason why he does well in the conservative parts of the state and it separates him from the normal democrat...because of this comparing him to hillary or any by the book dem is fruitless

pro life pro medicare/medicaid is huge in pennsyltucky and those are the two issues hes loudest about

right but these are super polarized times where national political issues matter more than anything

how does someone vote for trump in 16 then wolf/casey in 18 and spurn barletta/wagner? it just doesnt compute to me.

its even more insane in west virginia -- trump capital of the world -- would again vote for manchin. everything i farging hear from republicans is the straight demonization of anyone with a D next to their name, and yet, this.

Another social studies teacher and I were talking this morning, and he was certain that PA wouldn't vote for Trump again in 2020 based on last night's results.  I told him that, being from there, PA politics were by nature bi-polar and it wasn't certain which way the state would go.  Pennsyltucky loves them some Trump.

The best thing about this election cycle for me is it allowed me to identify which friends and acquaintances to excise from my life.

The second best thing was watching my girl vote for the first time and work her ass off in an ultimately futile effort.   If she didn't understand what it was to be a liberal living in a state filled with right wing iceholes before, she does now.

manchin and casey are super moderate dems and name royalty in their respective states...they supersede any perceived norms.....no one knows who lou barletta is and patrick morrissey might have been the single worst senate candidate in the entire mid terms

what took so long?....i did this when i was like 22

not that trumps presidency hasnt caused me great mental and physical pain but living in a liberal bubble where all my friends and family are bleeding hearts really helps

Donny Dumbfarg is more unhinged than normal in his presser today.

the name royalty thing is valid but casey has shifted much further to the left post trump. he spoke at multiple bleeding heart resistance rallies i went to.

but my overall point is, not only in pa, but in farging ohio and with a small % in florida, you have trump voters and republicans voting for the very party that he was viciously insulted. i just dont get it how someone could watch fox all day long, worship at the alter of trump and buy into his hateful rhetoric, then go out and cast a vote for tom wolf the democrat.

even more so. in massachusetts. you had ticket splitters galore. liberal ass wacko liz warren easily wins. so does the pub governor. who is voting for both?

One of the least-appreciated aspects of Beto O'Rourke's overperformance/Cruz's underperformance in TX-SEN last night: the entire GOP bench of judges was wiped off the map wholesale in Dallas and Houston. The legal topography of the state just changed overnight.
