The good thing about WaPo is the headline/url is descriptive enough that I don't have to succumb to their money-whoring and read the stupid article

yes news outlets should provide content free of charge for you, but you should definitely get paid when you work

god damn whoring reporters, thinking they can earn a salary
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Titty baby

I know that we've been hit with wave after wave of dangerous stupid shtein from Trump, but this scares me almost more than anything else he's done. Looking explicitly for loyalty from a supreme court justice is about as authoritarian as shtein gets.

Articles are dead man. Nobody reads that shtein for information when they can flip on a news network and get the bullet points in 5 minutes. I clicked on the link but I already knew from the headline why he reconsidered Gorsuch. Par for the Maralago course for Trump. We've become dumber and less informed as a society. Nobody cared what Trump's policies were, they were too distracted by his disdain for the left and constant headlines. But you keep trucking man.

first off i dont work in news anymore

second what you just said has zero basis in fact. the ny times has more subscribers now that its ever had but im sure its all people hoping to find msnbc instead of a story.

regardless most of the content from tv comes from print reporters work. so if your dream exists of the news being nothing but "bullet points in 5 minutes" on tv, dont expect to find out anything except for press releases.

this is so false....just because a larger portion of society are morons doesnt mean people dont read the post or times...in fact their circulations have boomed since trump took office...one of the few feel good things to come out of his debacle of a presidency....there are very few things better than great investigative journalism

Fake news

A larger portion of society reads bullet points. I'm not disagreeing people still read articles. I used to read the Inquirer/Daily News cover to cover daily. Not anymore. I have a business degree with a minor in corporate communications, it's widely accepted by news outlets and marketing that society no longer invests the time to do research or read content. It's why twitter is so effective. We took a course that primarily focused on headlines and social media. Focused on putting as much info as we could in as short amount of space as possible to tell the audience what they needed to known without having to actually read a thing. And that was in 2010. We've been dumbed down. The media and marketing adapted.

Problem is that people who watch the "news" don't get straight down the middle reporting. The State TV Network lives in a fantasy world. So they get their bullet points from some scumbag farg like Hannity.

aspects of this are accurate

people are not really dumber, we just know more people and what people think than we used to, so society being a cesspool is more evident and obvious and prevalent than it was 20 years ago. people are probably by and large smarter than they were in 1997, its just drowned out by continued repulsive stupidity.

also twitter's effect is overstated. most people arent on twitter. more are on facebook, where they read fake stories or extremely misleading stories from bullshtein sites.

but you skipped over the point. you bragged about your degree and how educated you were. and that you USED to read the newspaper everyday. even the supposed smart, plugged in people arent enriching themselves. what hope is there for the dregs of socirty? wha ha happen mr. college?

70% of the country does not have a college degree. That's not to say people don't read or are incapable of reading and interpreting articles because they don't have a formal education, but it's more likely than not the average joe is glancing at headlines and forming their opinion on the little information given. Some of the smartest people I know don't have a college education. They just figure shtein out, it's amazing.  It's an undeniable fact people with a college education are more likely to invest time reading and interpreting an article because no formal college degree comes without adequate reading comprehension. The rest of the uneducated lazy drones tune into talk shows because it aligns with their ideals and the works done for them. You can't blame news networks they're just catering to their audience for ratings.

Sidenote about formal educations: My deceased Grandfather (he's in the NHRA HOF) only went to school until 4th grade, but there's few people in the world who knew as much about cars as he knew. People called him a genius and he could barely read and write. Fascinating.

also of the people on twitter tons (that i follow anyway) of them put a link for an article in their tweet so its not like everything is 180 characters....there are really great pieces of journalism on there all the time if you follow the right people
