Now that Puerto Ricans are more desperate and poor they are turning into criminals and rapists, and Donald's next idea will be to build a wall between us and them to make Americans safe.

More like an Escape from New York style prison.   :-D

I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,

"Texas and Florida are doing great but Puerto Rico ... is in deep trouble," Pres. Trump tweets.

Pres. Trump says Puerto Rico owes billions of dollars "to Wall Street and the banks" and that "sadly, must be dealt with."

Scumbag

If he was speaking about their financial condition, he's not wrong.  PR was a financial disaster before the hurricanes.

The second part of the statement about owning billions to Wall Street and the banks is partially correct.  There are millions of Americans who own PR bonds somewhere in their holdings - even in 401k's.  If you own virtually ANY bond fund there's a good chance you own some PR debt.

The debt needs to be restructured, that was never in question and in fact, there was a plan in place last year but I think it got derailed.

Which has what to do with American citizens facing a humanitarian crisis presently?

Well, nothing.  But since the OP didn't mention any context I am assuming there was a question about comparing the three areas or something to that effect.

No...I know their financial issues. But for him to drop that out there while there is a yuge crisis going on is not very smart and definitely not presidential.

Its like "oh look at the dude stuck on the roof of his car in that flood - better check his credit score to see if he's worthy of rescue"

Trump doesn't care about the money. To use your analogy, "oh look at the dude stuck on the roof of his car in that flood - if he's brown, let him drown."

Rome

They're of no benefit to him, so he couldn't care less about them.  He's 100% worse than anyone could have ever imagined except that everyone here knew this was going to be the result.  The worst part is there are STILL people cheering that motherfarger on.

What kind of soulless bastich do you have to be to still support him?

The video igy posted of Maher's closing or whatever was pretty spot on...you have the country mice and the city mice. Those soulless sons of bitches are the country mice who may have very well never been to a big city, or have certainly spent no extensive time in a metropolitan area, saying shtein like, "I like to visit for a day or maybe two, but there's no way I could live there."

Rome

I've seen roundtable discussions from people who support and oppose Trump.  The supporters aren't all toothless hicks from farging Oklahoma.  They're middle class, white, suburban people who simply do NOT understand why what he's said and done that is so terrible.  In fact, they actively and vigorously agree with him.

Men, women... that makes no difference either.  It's the most confounding thing I've ever come across in my time on the planet.  I can understand being snowed by a con artist once, but there's more than enough empirical evidence that proves he's a piece of shtein grifter and quite probably a mentally disturbed sociopath, yet there they are... STILL cheering him on.

I used to watch historical films about the spells that people like Hitler would weave with their dupes and wonder why anyone in their right mind would buy their horseshtein.  I mean, Trump isn't even charismatic.  He's just a foul-mouthed imbecile whose bullshtein has repeatedly been debunked, yet here we are...

I found the tweet storm this narrative is based on, and he did say that food, water, and medicine were most important right now. I notice you neglected to include that part...

Look, I am not defending the guy. I think he's easily the worst President in history as of today.  He doesn't need hyperbole to look like a moron. He does just fine on his own.

I like the faux outrage from the athletes; like son of a bitch is the worst thing they've been called

Diomedes

The President of the United States called pro athletes "sons of bitches."

Did you guys know there is a big really big ocean out there?

That's what our president told us.

Rome

If Trump actually gave a microscopic shtein about Puerto Rico he would have mustered all the resources at his disposal to send relief supplies there within hours of the storm passing.  Instead he spent days actually attacking the first amendment rights of other American citizens and victim shaming 3.5 million other Americans because of a totally unrelated financial issue.

He's a colossal scumbag and anything other than total condemnation of him and his vile presidency at this point is actually a ringing endorsement in my view.   He's just that bad for this country.   Anyone with a shred of decency should be able to see that now.

I never knew this story, but it's true, I take back what I said about Kaepernick kneeling in front of the flag.

Quote

(Unfortunately, the people that could learn something by reading this likely won't bother).

Did you know this?

Aug 14, 2016- Colin Kaepernick sits for the national anthem.....and no one noticed.

Aug 20th, 2016- Colin again sits, and again, no one noticed.

Aug 26th, 2016- Colin sits and this time he is met with a level of vitriol unseen against an athlete. Even the future President of the United States took shots at him while on the campaign trail. Colin went on to explain his protest had NOTHING to with the military, but he felt it hard to stand for a flag that didn't treat people of color fairly.

Then on on Aug 30th, 2016 Nate Boyer, a former Army Green Beret turned NFL long snapper, penned an open letter to Colin in the Army Times. In it he expressed how Colin's sitting affected him.

Then a strange thing happened. Colin was able to do what most Americans to date have not...
He listened.

In his letter, Mr. Boyer writes:

"I'm not judging you for standing up for what you believe in. It's your inalienable right. What you are doing takes a lot of courage, and I'd be lying if I said I knew what it was like to walk around in your shoes. I've never had to deal with prejudice because of the color of my skin, and for me to say I can relate to what you've gone through is as ignorant as someone who's never been in a combat zone telling me they understand what it's like to go to war.
Even though my initial reaction to your protest was one of anger, I'm trying to listen to what you're saying and why you're doing it."

Mr. Boyer goes on to write "There are already plenty people fighting fire with fire, and it's just not helping anyone or anything. So I'm just going to keep listening, with an open mind. I look forward to the day you're inspired to once again stand during our national anthem. I'll be standing right there next to you."

Empathy and understanding was shown by Mr. Boyer.........and Mr. Kaepernick reciprocated.

Colin invited Nate to San Diego where the two had a 90 minute discussion and Nate proposed Colin kneel instead of sit.

But why kneel? In a military funeral, after the flag is taken off the casket of the fallen military member, it is smartly folded 13 times and then presented to the parents, spouse or child of the fallen member by a fellow service member while KNEELING. The two decided that kneeling for the flag would symbolize his reverence for those that paid the ultimate sacrifice while still allowing Colin to peacefully protest the injustices he saw.

Empathy, not zealotry under the guise of patriotism, is the only way meaningful discussion can be had. Mr. Kaepernick listened to all of you that say he disrespects the military and extended an olive branch to find a peace.

We can all learn from this backstory. The truth often lies in the middle. Seek to learn the opposing side's point.

It caught a few moments of national pub when it happened...and then it got swept under the rug.
