i think its a fair argument to say that you want him kept because he a fan favorite great in the locker room you wanted him to retire as an eagle etc
especially in the case of a long snapper
its not like you are letting an over hill bum play left tackle or wr because hes a fan favorite
i think you can also legitimately say that dorenbus was more valuable to the eagles than a 7th rounder in two years

i wasnt bringing up the 7th round pick so much to say that howie made a great trade just absolutely shocked another team would give even a 7th rounder for a player like him....its incredible

in fact if im howie i do not do the trade...to me its not worth the pick to now have to sit on pins and needles for every long snap this year and god forbid any are bad much less a bad one leads to a loss...howie will be absolutely pulverized all for a zesty pick thats probably never going to make the team....the risk reward to me is not near worth it....its pretty much a lose lose for howie....

the 7th rounder is not going to pan out...if lovato is perfect people are still pissed their favorite magician is gone and will say he could have done the same and if lovato is not good you get roasted for trading everyones favorite magician and replaced him with an inferior player

but howie is obsessed with playing fantasy football and would trade the whole team next week if he could get fair value
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

or maybe:

they had 2 long snappers on the team. one was better, cheaper and younger than the other. so, they traded the worse, expensive, older one.

but this is also true
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

key words are in bold....they are farging long snappers....problem is one happened to be the most beloved player on the roster and he was still good....why even mess with it...i personally dont care either way as dorenbus meant nothing to me....but if i was the GM i just leave it alone as there is no upside

He's been bit by the injury bug the last few years, so if they can get him on the cheap...maybe with an incentive heavy deal, then hell yeah.

He's was also bit by the not good anymore bug throughout last year, and that bug seems to be biting him even more this preseason. Browns beat guys are calling this a performance cut rather than a salary dump, and the team couldn't trade him in a market desperate for CBs.

I'm not saying don't get for the right price because the Eagles CBs are straight trash and can use all the help they can get, but I wouldn't expect him to be better than Darby, and I don't have particularly high expectations for Darby. If the price for Haden hits $5 million or above, this becomes a hard pass.

I expect the Eagles to give up about 2.5 passing TDs per game this year, regardless of whether they can bring in Haden. Gonna be ugly.
