The Supreme Court ruled in favor of a death row inmate in Texas whose own lawyers introduced evidence at trial that he was more likely to be dangerous in the future because he is black.

The court ruled that the inmate, Duane Buck, will now be able to go back to a lower court and argue that he should have a new sentencing hearing.
In a 6-2 ruling, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the majority opinion holding that Buck has "demonstrated both ineffective assistance of counsel" and has an "entitlement to relief."

2. I wonder what impact the McConnell/Trump shenanigans will have on the SCOTUS. I wonder if a moderate like Kennedy (or even a non-brain-dead conservative like Roberts) looks around at a party willing to destroy the country for tax cuts, a party that did not do its constitutional duty to hold hearings for Merrick Garland, a party that elected Donald farging Trump and get nudged just a little to the left in response.

Anyway, we'll find out soon enough I suppose, but Kennedy has shown a desire to be on the right side of history with regard to social issues and I can't believe that the current push-back against Trumpism is escaping his notice.

I get infuriated with Trump and his people daily - but that chicken neck farger McConnell really gets my blood pressure up. The balls on him to say how democrats are obstructing and how winners of elections deserve to make policy...makes me want to fight.
