anyone who complains about the qb rules another reminder:

steelers have 2 games over the next month in the national window (pats, cowboys) now lingering as stinkbombs because of the rapistburger injury. in college the players are interchangeable cogs and its all about stupid rankings and century-old school name recognition.

in the nfl its about the players, specifically, the qb.

I don't have a problem at all with the league protecting QBs.  Low hits, hits to the head, late hits, etc.  The less of that the QB takes, the better.  I do have a problem when the rule demands a 15 yd personal foul penalty because a defender's hand grazes the QB's helmet or when a top tier QB gets calls that backups and middle of the road guys don't.  But even that isn't solely an NFL issue.  That shtein happens in every sport, though I do think it's more preventable in the NFL without damaging the product.

Not saying that ratings aren't down, but in this particular case, I think the enormous drop in ratings is due to the fact that you've got 2 mediocre teams playing and the country as a whole doesn't give a single farg about either one of them.  Hell, the 2 local markets barely give a shtein.  And one of the very few players who is considered 'must watch' is on IR.  Hell, I didn't even watch but a few minutes of it and I really enjoy watching football.
