thats all injuries including head injuries which are way up now because of the head injury emphasis...i thought you said season ending ir injuries

I believe the number of reported injuries is up, but that doesn't mean the actual number of injuries is up.

Fewer guys are hiding that shtein and fewer teams are pressuring guys to play through pain.

ice grillin you

definitely

the nlfpa has finally realized that the more dangerous they can make the game sound the more money they can get

I would tend to think that overall inurjuries are up because players are so much bigger stronger and faster than they used to be.  A lot more dudes have spoecialized training regimens, dieticians, physical therapists, coaching, and more training time, so they are reaching the limits of what human bodies can do, and that means fast and strong but also torn cartilage, ligaments, and bone, which can only get so strong.

if they are in better condition and healthier tho wouldnt that counter act the fact that guys are bigger and stronger

i think the fact that its more of a passing game helps injuries...less rock em sock plays and more spread which has OL's back peddling rather than mauling

also way less contact in the offseason now

Some of the players have realized it for a while. Remember how people used to believe that NFL players die on average in their 50s or some such nonsense? All of those claims came from numbers Ron Mix pulled out of his ass in the 80s when he was working the NFL over for one workman's compensation claim after another. He made a killing.

When people get unfairly injured, they should get paid. But people on the players side peddle bullshtein sometimes, too.

Rule changes and penalties probably be the biggest factor in reducing injuries.

I think not, because muscles can be made stronger than the structure which supports them.  With full time dedicated staff, scientifically designed nutrition, etc, we can have made althets--all althetes--stronger than their own bodies can handle.  The torn ACLs from non contact incidents are not the same as they've ever been, because all of our athletes, even the scrusb, are now so much stronger and faster than their predecessors, because the equipment they are wearing is so much more effective, etc., that when he plants his foot to cut, the modern athlete is exerting a great amount more force on essentially the same bones and ligaments as the athlete from 40 years ago.

Well, it's an idea.  Don't care if you agree with it.

The injuries happen for many of the same reasons that pitchers are blowing out their elbows before turning 25... excessive training and mileage, especially during the developmental years of their bodies.  And like dio said, as much as their muscles develope and the amount of force and power their bodies generate, the bone structure is still the same. Imagine putting a Corvette engine on a Model T.  The frame couldn't handle the power and would fall apart. Basically the same concept.

Aqib Talib was shot at a Dallas night club last night

Sounds like he's alive and in the hospital

Any idea who shot him?  Have they spoken to Shannon Billings?

He shot himself, Plaxico style.

The Ravens shteincanned that CFL loser Marc Trestman, and our old buddy Marty is their new OC.

Kaep is SF's new starting QB

Don Ho

Saw that about Kap.  Good for him.  Chip desperate and Kap will probably do well.  Rumblings out of Niners camp is Ponder has actually looked the best of the three.

I won't lie, if Chip stayed I wanted Kapernick here.
