the phillies and nationals have played exactly 0 meaningful games against each other. one fan base is the goat, one fan base is nonexistent. in fact the phillies really dont have an arch rival. the mets are the closest thing. cards/cubs, yanks/sox, doyer/giants....phillies/nats!

explain to me how the phillies and nationals have some kind of huge rivalry. what memorable games have they played against each other? what year where they both fighting for the division? how many times have their fans taken over the bank? you like the eagles and are aware of what they have against the other teams in that division. you pretend to like the flyers and are at least cognitively aware of what they have against the rangers and penguins.

now compare that to the phillies and the farging nationals.

Inter-division, fella. That's a natural rivalry. Plus, for the most part, fans of the Nats are fans of the football team (ex Havas) so you have that rivalry there too.

the closest it ever came and it wasn't close was when the phils fans would take over nats park when the nats sucked....and even then it was completely one sided...like 10% of the nats fanbase hated the Phillies

werth even tried to make one when he went to dc....no one cared and his attempt failed

Most hated team by Phillies fans is the Mets, followed by the Phillies themselves (clearly the organization's biggest enemy over the previous 130 years). After that it's a big drop-off and you probably go outside the division before you get to the Marlins and Expos.

you might get some lingering jealousy over the 90s braves....but more people in philly hate the red sox and yankees over the marlins and expos/nats.
