its the first time in a few years, good for him

i didnt mean it was his first time ever. i knew they made it out in the glory days where they were blocking temple from joining the big east.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

the whole narrative of them being huge chokers doesn't even make sense.....even the best schools have gone thru a sweet sixteen "drought" and villanova is not by ant stretch a "best" school

Rome

I know it's literally next to impossible to give up a 35 point lead, but I really thought they were headed there.  They froze up and if Iowa had any shooting ability whatsoever, that could have gotten really uncomfortably close.

Good win, though.

PS: I hope they beat Miami by 50.

then who the farg cares about them...nobody cares about delaware hoops

let them play paddycake with georgetown on the main line and stab philly/temple in the back....take your sweet 16 berth....enjoy white republicans

i think i hate nova more than any team in the world

its one thing for jerrah to be a POS who signs woman beaters or for the giants to be arrogantly smug or for the mets to be cheap puerto rican trash....you expect those things....you dont expect to be shived by your brother

Of course you do ... Obviously Nova blocks Temple.  Same reason Florida blocks FSU from joining SEC, Xavier blocked Dayton from Big East etc.  It's what happens.

They're obviously the least "philly" of the philly schools but they play in the big5 (and Jay has promoted that unlike Lappas).  They're interwoven in the city's bball tradition for that reason and their ties with the schools.

I grew up rooting for Nova - my dad went there.  But I generally also pull for the other city teams as well. Maybe if I had gone to Nova/Temple/SJU I would get the hate shared.

tcu joined the big 12 when a&m left....temple helped la salle get into the a10 in the 90s.....usc/ucla and duke/unc/nc st all coexist in shared recruiting territory

i get teams looking out for their own. its all in the game. but you know the big 5 is different than anything else in college sports. nova doing what they did, especially when everyone else in the conference wanted temple, is an act of betrayal. its evil. its anti philly. they as a school can rot in the ground.

Most of those were created way before this current collegiate atmosphere.  It's why you see SCar blocking Clemson and so on down the line.  It happens regularly right now.  I would be surprised if the roles were reversed and temple reached out to nova.

Like I said, maybe if I went to one of them I'd feel differently.  I care the most about nova but was still rooting for TU and will be pulling for SJU tonight.

ice grillin you

nova is not on the level of the city schools....they are more a Delaware valley smarty jones type philly thing but to say they aren't 100% philly is silly

also when shtein goes down btwn schools it's usually an admin or coaches doing....Villanova or Georgetown didn't do it Rollie massamino or John Thompson were behind it
