Breaking news ... Sanchez is a back up QB for a reason.

phillies will be under 500 this year...book it

The long-term prospects of the Eagles might be the most grim of Philly's 4 major teams. I get that you can turn things around in football pretty quickly, so that is a factor, but the fact that the Eagles don't have a QB, and I have no idea how the hell they are going to get one, makes me think it's going to be quite a while before this team is a legitimate contender. Not to mention they basically have to rebuild the entire offense now with Chip Kelly destroying it.

It's funny saying this now after how brutal they have been for years, but I honestly wouldn't be shocked if the Phillies are a playoff team again before the Eagles are. Dark days are ahead for the Eagles any way you slice it.

Don Ho

Couldn't agree with you more although it's going to be dark for both franchises for sometime.  I wanted Mariota IF the genius was/is firmly set on staying.  The Eagles have proven they don't draft well of late and anything they mortgaged to get MM wasn't a big concern to me.  Other than Hicks this year who is worth a shtein, who is a future Pro Bowler?  Last year?  Two years ago?  I rest my case.  Lane Johnson?  He's OK but I don't see him as the next Runyan or Peters.  AP 81 is right, they have no QB and there isn't shtein out there, FA or NCAA.  Unless they find the next Tom Brady in round 5 get ready for a steady dose of Bradfords, Sanchezs, Fitzpartricks, Mettenbergs, Gabberts, etc. behind center.

I'm not saying the eagles won't get a lot worse before they get better because this could get ugly but you are never far away from the playoffs in today's garbage nfl...shtein if they still had Jeremy maclin they probably win the division and he's one good not even great  wr

on no planet do the Phillies have even close as good a chance to make the playoffs before the eagles...shtein right now the eagles probably have a 40% chance to be in the playoffs in less than two months

the phils have a zero % chance to make it in the next two years

Was just thinking about this this morning. If they re-sign Maclin, don't make the Shady trade, and keep Mathis, they're probably 6-3 and an NFC favorite.

Sgt PSN

Hell, if they simply kept Maclin they'd be in far better shape than they are now. He's not elite, but he's pretty damn good and can do a little bit of everything.

Rome

Maclin had 3 catches for 17 yards on Sunday when K.C. scored 29 points.   How is Shady any better than what Mathews/Murray has given them?  Buffalo has him splitting time with Karlos Williams, for god's sake.  Mathis I'll marginally grant you because even as limited as he is he's still better than either guard they have now, plus he made Kelce about 100 times better.

As someone once said, you are what your record says you are.  This team is straight garbage for a lot of reasons and suggesting three marginal replacements would suddenly turn them into division leaders simply belies the facts.

SunMo

are you seriously suggesting that jeremy maclin on this team would be marginal upgrade over josh huff and riley cooper?
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Rome

I'm suggesting he along with Shady & Mathis wouldn't turn them into a 6-3 contender.  You read what I wrote, right?

QB Eagles

The receivers are terrible, but the receivers on the undefeated Panthers are just as bad. Offensive line breakdowns and QB mediocrity look like the issues to me, but the Vikings have had the same issues (yep, Teddy B is just a game manager) and are 7-2 on the back of a power running game.

It's like the Eagles just haven't figured out how to acknowledge and play around their limitations the way that other teams have. That's on Chip for not finding the right schemes, and the players for making brutal game-costing errors (drops, penalties, ill-advised passes, and other mental lapses). With Sanchez in there, the errors will only increase. Even in the game or two when Murray was statistically good, he hasn't looked comfortable in this offense once. We're in mid-November and Chip hasn't figured out how to use him yet.

The whole offense looks out of rhythm and uncomfortable to watch. Something about the way they play tends to bring their opponents down to their level too, which has kept them in games, but made watching them even more awkward. There's zero indication any of this will change before the end of the season.

shady is a better back than Murray. He's had some hamstring injuries so they haven't given him a full workload. They could have alleviated that problem by signing Mathews like they did and not running him into the ground.

And who cares what Maclin's stats were one game, he put up great numbers in this offense last season.

In his last three games he's tallied 9 catches for 100 yards and a td.

He's been less than average in KC but because he was great LAST YEAR for the Eagles, that means he'd be great this year.

lol

with a legitimate outside threat at wr theres no way they dont have two more wins right now...in the end it doesnt matter they arent good enough to win the superbowl even with a mack type wr added to the mix but this pos embarrasment of a division they could....as it stands now with the current wr's they have they arent even as good as washington
