J, that was awesome!  Thanks!  Dutch was going off on Coke Gooden.  Who was that who tossed Strawberry to the ground?  Good stuff J!

Yeah man and it was awesome to see that old Fox29 opening and then hear Harry...I'll watch the whole 2hr clip this weekend

I couldn't see them back then unless they played the Cubs or Braves. So I would be in the boxscores every morning and buying USAToday's Baseball Weekly to keep up with everything. SO my pops started recording games and every week I'd get a UPS package with 3 or 4 tapes.

settle down...this game was a farce. and he was an organizational depth throw in in the trade. vance worley had a ton of gems in 2011.

hes likely a low end starter, but hes certainly earned himself a good look to be in the rotation of one of the worst teams in baseball next year. hip hip hooray.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The Mets weren't playing out the string.  They have HFA on the line and still pulled a collective hammy during the series.

Irrelevant, though.  The Phillies need to lose out to ensure the #1 pick.  That's the headline.

QB Eagles

So who again is the can't-miss Bryce Harper Jr. stud the Phils need to pick at #1 who definitely won't be around at #2?

ice grillin you

there isnt one but again thats not the point....its awesome anytime your team can have a number one overall pick...even if its just a fan thing its still important

since 1950 philadelphia as a city has had four overall number one picks....the cleveland cavaliers have had three in the last five years
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

meh. just seems like it'll make it worse when the #2 pick becomes a hall of famer and the phillies #1 pick spends most of his life in reading.

ice grillin you

they could also pick second and the first overall could go on to be a hall of famer....at least with the one you controlled your own destiny....no one ever picks first and says afterwards man i wished we would have picked second so we didnt farg up the first pick....you just get killed for making a bad pick whether its at 1 or 17

i know the scenario is not the same but im sick of seeing the reemer vs kane erkel vs wall thing...as of now there isnt a gap like their was in those two scenarios but either way i dont wanna five years from now see the number one overall pick for the reds becoming a stud while the phillies second pick is trash and sitting there saying man if only they didnt choke away that pick to reds that year

also if hes worthy as the number one overall i want jason groome really bad...would be cool to get a local kid number one overall....plus he has the most upside of any of the guys at the top right now...also baseball is a different animal in that they play a whole season of their sport before the draft takes place....theres so much development to still take place...so its possible btwn now and next june that a guy emerges as a dominant prospect...maybe not bryce harperish but a far and away consensus number one overall...and if that happens you obviously want the one

yea i fundamentally dont see how it doesnt matter

its not as big as the nba or nfl where you can definitely get that HOF dude, but on what planet is winning a game this weekend going to accomplish anything?

Hang on, I know what you're thinking: Jeremy, do you have any idea how dangerous it is to insult the entire city of Philadelphia?! And yes, I know. I know all too well.

So first, let me be clear. Philly is a great sports town, with passionate fans and a palpable energy. The problem, though, is that the city, more than any other I've played in, seems to condone and almost revel in its fans crossing the line. Nowhere else in this country—again, based on my experience as a 14-year major leaguer and the conversations I've had with other players—is the opposition treated in such a repeatedly vile and borderline threatening manner.

We are out here to play a game, and even though we are paid handsomely to do so, professional athletes should not be subject to vulgarity, personal attacks or epithets. Sadly, in Philadelphia, this kind of fan conduct is far too typical. The irony is, while Phillies fans succeed in making many players dread traveling there, they also (not surprisingly) impact the decision-making process of those same players in free agency.

Sure, it's great to play for a rabid fan base, but after experiencing firsthand how powerful that fervor can be when it is channeling extreme negativity, it really makes you think twice about where all that collective anger comes from, and whether you want to subject yourself and your family to that all the time.

I'm sure he's not the only player to feel that way at the end of his career.  And I doubt he'll be the last.

Swell, first we get Chip the racist control freak and now this.

farg him.  Did you hear the booing in Pittsburgh last night?  Wasn't just at Scobee.  Lot of it at Tomlin.  Oh but they're just passionate.  We're passionate psychopaths or so I'm told.
