yep...they keyed on the run.  anyone with eyes could see that.

Yeah they had a safety in the box and were focused on the run. Gruden mentioned it as did a couple of writers. Plus you could see that they were playing single high safety.

As for the comment about PS...I am not talking about scoring results. I am talking about the feel of a team. You know football enough, igy, to know what I am talking about. I cited Indy, Seattle, Dallas and Baltimore and they all were sloppy and it carried over. So we're talking fundamentals here. Execution of plays and shtein like that. Every one of those teams I listed were listed as legit contenders and what happened with them?

ice grillin you

your point was that the eagles looked great regardless of the scores in preseason and were fully prepared and that atlanta looked horrible and would get run

i tried to tell you preseason means jack shtein on all levels and especially so with a chip team who try and go full bore against defenses that could care less...dan quinn baffled chip last year in a real game and was seeing him for the second time last night and like i said chip thus far in his nfl career chip has not been very good when facing people multiple times

igy gettin it done like warrick

Did anyone actually expect Parkey to make that kick? I have a feeling he's going to be a problem to the point they have to bring someone in. He hasn't looked right at all, and I have zero confidence in him at this point.

Nope

He botched the kick in the skins game last season too. Not a clutch kicker.

not surprised they lost. the team has holes. again, no surprise. work on it and focus on dallas.

I thought I was pretty clean on PS not meaning much by way of overall results. You watch a team and get a feel of them and how things work out. When they're sloppy or getting exposed in one on ones or stuff like that you can see it.

Now does it mean that every team that looks bad (or good) in their execution will carry that over to the regular season? Nope.

Nor does it account for things like ATL selling out to stop the run and the Eagles not being able to burn them for it like they should have in the first half. If Bradford is on point and they make some throws early then its a whole different game.

smeags

Bradford def missed on that td pass to ertz. one of many, many mistakes the team made last night.

Bradford didn't have a good first half, obviously. But he did play well enough in the comeback effort that I honestly don't think he's going to be a problem (other than the probability he'll get hurt at some crucial point).

That's missing the point.  The 44 yard fg wasn't to win the game.  Atlanta gets the ball down 1 with tons of time.  That's still likely a L.   If there was 3 seconds left I'd agree but there wasn't.

and lol @ d it up...their secondary sucks and got torched and their supposed great d line got worked as well.....who is going to d up exactly...plus matt bryant is not cody parkey...legendz is right...atlanta wins with a fg there

i don't get this...you guys realize that the eagles stopped them after the kick right? well they stopped them on 3 downs but it's unbelievable that they stop them on 4th down?

i realize people on here are going to complain just because that's the thing but if he makes that kick birds win.

SunMo

the difference is that if the falcons were losing they would be passing it up and that means julio on maxwell.  i don't think it's out of line to think the falcons could have gotten into fg range.

that being said i would have kicked it as well
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

of course it's possible but are we saying that the falcons were not trying to get a first down there? they were. surprise.

if anything was wrong with that play don't have parkey trotting out with 5 seconds left on the play clock. should have had him out there immediately instead of waiting.

they stopped atlanta after the kick cause the falcons called three vanilla runs against a nine man front just to run the clock down

the more relevant atlanta drive is the one before the parkey miss witht he eagles up 24-23....it went something like this: pass, pass, pass, matt bryant, falcons lead

thats what would have happened if parkey makes it

they should have called a timeout....to at least discuss the possibility of going for it and if not you at least arent rushing to kick it...parkey was horrible in the preseason when he kicked and then didnt kick at all for the last three weeks....plus like sd said going back to the washington game he choked...i had little faith in him there....but thats an extra factor in going for it to me...even if they had matt bryant i still would have went for it cause i had zero confidence in them stopping atlanta....or if a kick would have given them a three point lead i may have tried it...then at least you give yourself a chance in overtime even if atlanta comes down and scores

yep...the d stinks but they played better in the 2nd half once they started blitzing.
