Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Your "Philadelphia" 76ers are moving to Camden to practice.   The governor of New Jersey has given the billionaire who owns the team $82,000,000 in taxpayers' money to build a facility there that will be second to none.  That's the good news.  The bad news is, not a single resident of the state will benefit from the $82M giveaway nor will the city experience even the slightest ancillary benefit!   So, in other words, grab your farging ankles, New Jersey.

What a colossal joke.

They're fleecing the taxpayers of New Jersey with another billionaire lotto giveaway.    Camden isn't going to get a single benefit from this.  Not one.  Sure, they might get a few janitorial jobs out of it, but that's it?  $82,000,000 in tax breaks for a corporation worth hundreds of millions and an owner worth a billion or more?  It's disgusting, but hey, go team, amirite?!?!?!

christie offered the tax breaks....were they supposed to turn it down and take a worse deal in philly?

again i was salty when they announced moving from the city but its capitalism

and is going to transform camden all by itself no...but the fact that someone chose camden over anywhere much less philly is big for the city just from a public relations standpoint and self worth...in ten years that waterfront will be a place people want to go and the sixers will have been a small part of that

They weren't supposed to turn the offer down but that doesn't make it any less nauseating.   How many poor people could have benefited from the money that was given away?  How many books could have been bought for kids in public schools?    Jesus Christ, man... I don't even mind the giveaways if they make economic sense, but this is nothing but a fancy gym for millionaires to play in.  It's not going to create jobs, it's not going to improve the neighborhood by attracting other businesses... there's literally no benefit for the community whatsoever.  It's absolutely obscene and I'm ashamed of you as a fellow liberal for not recognizing it as such.

You literally cannot be this stupid.  I mean, YOU can, and you prove it on a daily basis, but just in general, humans simply cannot be this idiotic.

chester isnt a spit away from philly and doesnt have the built in base that south jersey has for camden

dont get me wrong i dont think camden will ever be must go to place but it has a really good chance of having its own little renassaince...chester is lol worthy...it has nothing going for it most of all location...and theres also a huge difference between a permanent business moving in and a soccer stadium that holds 10 events a year or however many home games a mls team gets that has 20k people driving into the city for two hours then leaving

it was going to be built no matter what....it needs to be built...it should be in the navy yard

the sixers didnt get cash for doing this they got tax breaks...money that the state wont collect not money that the state spent...and its spread out over a ten year period....the facility itself will bring 300 new jobs to camden....its going to be the teams hq....training facilities and practice facilties....its not just a bball court.....its literally a new business moving to camden which is basically unheard of....we can debate the tax credit aspect of it and in an ideal world they wouldnt have gotten that but businesses arent flocking to camden just because

nothing like massive amounts of tax payer money going to the aid of some worthless football team....you cant complain about one professional sports team that you dont care about taking advantage of the government while the other that you do like does the exact same thing
