Title: Head Coaching Search
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on January 12, 2021, 11:20:30 AM
All the info in one spot for Dio...

They have requested interviews with;

Niners DC Robert Saleh
Titans OC Arthur Smith
Bucs DC Todd Bowles

They have also reported interest in Lincoln Riley and of course in-house candidate Duce. No word yet that I have seen on requesting permission for Bieniemy or Daboll.

Lurie has said in the past he prefers to not hire a defensive minded coach but Saleh is a top guy. Not sure how serious the interest in Bowles in.

Let me know when an assistant with little to no NFL coordinator experience gets an interview (that isn't Duce). That'll be the guy.

coaches really shouldnít have much input...that said they arenít attracting anyone with the cache to ask for that kind of power anyway

Best case scenario is a two year tryout for someone while Howie cleans up the cap mess before he gets canned, then a new GM and coach.

its going to be duce

who wants to touch this mess. meddling owner, all powerful gm, 2 terrible qbs. id rather stay an OC and wait

Who would want most of these jobs?

Jags - #1 pick, good young receivers
Chargers - Herbert, descent defense, Southern Cal, beautiful new stadium
Jets - possible new young QB via draft but horribly managed franchise
Falcons - Lot of older/expensive players, headed to massive rebuild
Lions - barf
Texans - another poop fest
us - QB fiasco, clueless GM, meddling owner
Title: Re: Head Coaching Search
Post by: QB Eagles on January 12, 2021, 05:53:59 PM
Chargers should be the #1 destination of any coach. I expect them to land Bienemy.

Texans have Deshaun Watson (at least for the moment). That alone makes it 10x better than the Eagles.

Jets and Jags have among the most cap space and can be brand new teams very quickly.

Lions will have a new GM and is effectively a blank slate.

The Falcons job is terrible and the Eagles job is beyond terrible.

Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on January 12, 2021, 07:38:33 PM
Deshaun or not the Jack Easterby guy in their front office is going to keep people away. Players and former players are openly talking about how awful he is and how heís worthless.

Eagles certainly arenít a premium destination right now. Thatís for sure.

Is this Orlovsky guy the former UCONN college football qb?

How did he become some kind of head that people respect?  UCONN didn't even have football when until what, 20 years ago?

its theoretically possible but his resume is insanely thin. mcvay has 6 seasons in the nfl and 3 as an OC. brady was a grad assistant at penn state in 2016

youre basically taking a shot in the dark with him

Not sure if he's respected so much as he plays a more punchable Skip Bayless type on ESPN.

Was probably the biggest Wentz fan in the media until about 3 months ago.

He's also the guy who ran out of the back of the end zone as a Lion and didn't realize he did it

As for Brady - he's riding that LSU notoriety.

i dont know what to say...hes a great football mind apparently...are you saying you have to win a national championship at alabama to be a good football mind...also he played in the pros for a long time

his film breakdowns are pretty good...no better or worse than daniel jeremiah or louis riddick or these other guys on tv or twitter...

The circus now moves to the big top

Kellen Moore has been scheduled for an interview

Lurie and Howie have no idea what to do. They just knew that big bad Doug didnít want little whiny Carson as his QB so he had to go.
Title: Re: Head Coaching Search
Post by: ice grillin you on January 14, 2021, 08:59:31 AM
first and foremost he had to go cause hes a half wit

also they knew the only way they could even think about keeping him was if he got a legit OC who could work the offense give carson cpr and bring him back

i dont even blame doug for not wanting to take orders on that but once that happened that was it

i think doug can work if you have a good OC and DC around him and just let him run around the locker room hugging players and telling them life is like a box of chocolate stories...he can play the good cop and keep the room happy but you want him thinking as little as possible which is what he naturally does best anyway
Title: Re: Head Coaching Search
Post by: QB Eagles on January 14, 2021, 09:24:23 AM
When a coach has 4 wins and doesn't want to make any serious changes, he's gotta go.

No coach has survived a fewer than 5 win season under Lurie.
Title: Re: Head Coaching Search

even the doug-as-ceo idea was DOA after the wash game...theres no way he could go back into the locker room and be looked at the same

Title: Re: Head Coaching Search
Post by: QB Eagles on January 15, 2021, 03:19:26 PM
Main problem is that going in on Bieniemy means waiting until February before you can even interview the cat and only having dregs available for the rest of the coaching staff, assuming you let him hire his own coordinators. And there's no guarantee that you like him or that one of the other teams isn't waiting for him too.
Title: Re: Head Coaching Search

Has any other team interviewed Duce, for any open coaching position?

Is anyone here thinking he'd be a good fit?

I've said before, I think he's got to leave the fold before he can be proven.  Until then, he's got to be seen just as a Lurie guy, not an NFL guy.

I'm afraid if he becomes HC, he'll be seen as a yes man, status quo hire, and that won't help his career at all.  I'd love to see him succeed as a coach...

Title: Re: Head Coaching Search

No. The Eagles offense hasn't been something other teams want to emulate since 2017, when Duce was a mere RB coach.
Title: Re: Head Coaching Search
Post by: General_Failure on January 16, 2021, 12:45:53 PM
Brandon Graham seems to be behind the idea, but I don't think he's on anyone's radar for a new job. He's either getting his break here or not at all. Offensive coordinator jobs seem to be scarce if you're not a QB coach.
Title: Re: Head Coaching Search
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on January 16, 2021, 02:21:10 PM
Several players have come out in support of him. Iím a fan and think he would be fine. As long as they have a innovative OC and a QB coach who can fix The Fragile Gingerís issues.
Title: Re: Head Coaching Search
Post by: General_Failure on January 16, 2021, 02:25:48 PM
There's no fixing a rich, religious ego. Whoever they get as a coach had better get two mulligan seasons so they can dump Wentz affordably.

McDaniel was kind of an arrogant dick last time around as HC. If they did hire him they'd need someone to offset his personality, and to a degree, Wentz. More of a laid back players coach for a good cop/bad cop kind of thing. I'm thinking something like bring in Josh Gordon as Passing Game Coordinator but idk how the suspension stuff would transfer.

Definitely not my first choice but Iíll go half glass full here...we hated the Doug hire and he won a Super Bowl. Mcdaniels has 6 SB rings, sure he botched his first HC gig but that was a decade ago. Heís been highly coveted around the league.

I really think (hope) McDaniels is just their backup plan in case Bienemy falls through. None of the other coaches on the market were overly impressive although I do think Arthur Smith might be decent in Atlanta.

Fans basically donít know shtein about any of these guys and rate them on press conference personality, what political party we imagine they support, and other shtein that only tangentially matters to football. With McDaniels there are a high number of red flags though. Maybe it takes 12 hours just to get him to address all of those.

Yay.

What a joke.

Why is it a circus? This is their opportunity to ask every up-and-comer in the NFL for their opinion on how to fix the Eagles, for the price of a plane ticket and a dinner. Some of these probably aren't even really job interviews but the candidate doesn't know that.

I get that. But that would mean forward thinking on Lurie and Howieís part and Iím not sure they deserve credit for that. Could they be waiting for Bieniemy and using this time to pick everyone elseís brains? Sure. Thatís what I hope theyíre doing. Either have their mind made up on Duce of Bieniemy.

But this seems disjointed. Who knows? Iíll bitch and moan about it if itís someone I donít like but I didnít like the Doug hire and he won a SB.

I really think they have a verbal from Bieniemy theyíre just waiting until after theyíre out of the playoffs to avoid distraction...they still love Andy. The other candidates are just due diligence.

3) lincoln riley (their first pick all along who had some kind of super secret interview)

I'll take IGY over McDaniels, so fine. I can wait out the two years it takes to clean up the roster and find a coach.

Eagles are hiring Colts' OC Nick Sirianni as their head coach, sources tell ESPN. Sirianni spent three seasons as a Chiefs' assistant coach, five seasons with the Chargers, and the past three with the Colts. Now the 39-year-old Sirianni becomes the lead man in Philadelphia.
