Went from 90% chance of rain
To 70%
To Overcast and partly sunny
To 60%
To high of 80 and overcast but partly sunny

I scored tickets at face value last night, decent seats too. Excited to witness the letdown.

troy was obviously horrid on that play but dawkins shaded to the wrong side. lewis or bishop, whoever was the other safety then, had that side covered. cut dawkins. he sucks.

Simple:  You complain about how other teams in the division have superior coaching and/or quarterbacks and that ultimately the Eagles won't get anywhere.  It's not much different than when they're bad, actually.

Patrick Robinson has been playing way better than expected, too. I wouldn't exactly call the CBs a strength, and I'm kinda scared about what Cam might do to them on Thursday night, but Schwartz has done an impressive job with this group so far.

i smiled a lot because of efficiency....td to turnover ratio is what matters...in the late 3q wentz had like 190 yds...but it didnt matter....ive killed him for never having a 3 td game in a league where a chimpanzee can throw for td's today he had 3 td in a half

his late throw to aggie was ridiculous

Doug Pederson is a good coach. Don't know how good, don't know if the guy will ever win a Superbowl, but I'm comfortable saying that.

He's a good schemer, good game planner, and yeah he does some dumb shtein like stupid challenges and such, but I feel confident in the guy coming up with a good game plan and knowing how to attack a defense.

Half the narrative comes from how awkward he is in press conference, but he's better than I thought.

I don't know about elsewhere, but here on :CF this just isn't true. Sure, a little has to do with Pederson's awkwardness in front of a mic. But most of the critical analysis of why he can't succeed as a head coach is because he looks like a big dumb meathead jock. He simply doesn't pass the "eye test," and therefore can never be anything more than a crap HC. Nice game today, though.

I'm done criticizing Doug. He's 4-1, the birds are playing well, they're 3rd in overall offense and 6th in points. He deserves credit. Yes he comes off like a ninkapoop and it's hard to imagine him as a head coach but the I've never questioned the teams effort on game day and they're always prepared and fundamentally sound.

I don't have stats but Wentz is possibly the top 3rd down qb in the league. You don't get the sense of how in control he is of the offense on television, but he comes to the line, reads the defense, then audibles or makes slight changes to formations account for possible blitzes.

The d line was unreal yesterday, and that was without Cox. Rasul continues to impress, he's raw and out of position at times but his size and athleticism covers that up.

My only complaint yesterday was the wind turbines, it was windy yesterday and those fargers just don't spin.

We were in the endzone Burton caught his TD, opposite corner. I say to my buddy "they're going to Burton here", I'm assuming dude behind me heard me say that and says "why the farg is Burton on the field". Wentz hits him in the corner of the endzone, my buddy and I high five then look at the guy and laugh at him as he tries to throw us a high five.

Burton needs to be on the field more. Totally underutilized and a mismatch.

What don't you like about him? I'm not being a wise ass, just curious. If people don't like him that's their prerogative. I'm not saying I wasn't skeptical as hell of the hire. I flat out didn't like it when they made it, but in his limited body of work thus far, I see a lot more to like than not like. Some real head scratcher moments here and there, but I think for the most part, he got the most out of his talent and uses it well.

Even going back to last season, before their offensive line went to shtein when Lane got suspended, the offense was generally efficient with a rookie QB who had essentially zero preseason coming from D1AA and one of the worst group of WRs in NFL history.

Maybe he just ends up being merely a competent NFL coach who is nothing special, but some people think the guy flat out sucks and is a total moron, and I just haven't seen any indication that he is a bad coach based on what I have seen thus far.

I stopped caring about coaches since Reid went to the fullback on 3rd down in New Orleans.

Coaches need players and luck.

Belicheat needed:

Tom Brady
Stolen signals, etc.
NFL hating the raiders
Tom Brady
Kurt Warner's broken thumb
Eagles (for Carolina in '03)
Pete Carroll to inhale his own farts at the wrong time
etc. to become successful.

Andy Reid was a few plays, one defensive stop, one or two less turnovers from also winning.

farg coaches, its all luck and being at the right place at right time...which requires more luck than skill.

Arguing about coaches is dumb. Even for me.

I let Donovan off easier than Reid.  He was afterall a young man.

Andy Reid was an all powerful HC who thought it would be great to employ his farg up son after he got out of prison.

You want to work in the type of environment where the boss' farg up kid is on staff?  How professional is that?   Reid gets ultimate blame from me for that debacle because heavy is the head that wears the crown.  If it doesn't take him 23 seconds to figure out and get a call in to the quarterback every goddamn play, different things happen all year for him.  If he doesn't call timeouts like they come by the baker's dozen, and if he ....

ah, farg it.

Not an Andy Reid fan.  My KC buddy is loving him though.  What's he won you that matters, I ask?  Nothing yet.

Well Belichick of course not, no one can except Tom Coughlin apparently. Quinn and McVay tbd, and Carroll probably not. But in a playoff game as long as the guy doesn't get totally owned by opposing coaches, that doesn't mean the Eagles are doomed. If Wentz ends up being the real deal and the Eagles continue to build up this promising defense, they'll be a tough out vs anyone, and the Eagles won't need Pederson to be some football savant, just coach a solid game and don't be a total idiot and they'll be a dangerous team.

Kelly was arrogant, stubborn and refused to build relationships inside the organization.  He acted from the start like he'd made a terrible mistake in leaving Oregon and spent next three years doing everything in his power to get fired.

Say what you will about this goober but he's affable as hell and he doesn't seem to mind adapting to succeed.  I mean he's run the ball enough to make Vince Lombardi blush the last three weeks.

Did anyone here ever expect that?  I didn't.

He acted from the start like he'd made a terrible mistake in leaving Oregon and spent next three years doing everything in his power to get fired.

eh not really. common misconception about chip. he loved the nfl. he loved not recruiting and not having to placate to teenagers. theres he reason he jumped right to the 49ers and why he didnt take any college jobs. he also loved himself, his ego and his stupid playbook full of 5 plays.

I thought Kelly was legit smart and would adjust when the league adjusted, and he just...didn't.
There was no door number 2 with kelly, which sort of shocked me.

I don't think Pederson is smart.   I don't even know that I'd describe him as affable ... more like generic dude you'd find in a cubicle who you'd shrug at if he wanted to grab a drink and watch the game with you.

That being said, none of that really matters if he a) has a competent D coordinator who he lets run the defense (which he does) and b) can call plays on offense.

I will say the one thing I LIKE about Pederson is he's aggressive.  Obviously 4th and 8 is dumb, but give me a coach all day who goes for it 100% of the time on fourth and short over midfield over someone who is scared of their shadow.

I agree with all of this. Thought it was crazy that Chip had no Act 2. In his introductory press conference, I remember him and Lurie both blatantly talking about how the Eagles weren't hiring his college system, but a mind that could keep innovating and adapting as the league changed. Meanwhile he turned out to be the least adapting motherfarger ever.

Legendz hit it right...he's generic.

There's nothing above and beyond special. He's just a guy

I agree that he seems like "just a guy." Look at him and any normal person would say, "how did that that doofus get to be a head coach?" But at this point since he somehow is the head coach and hasn't been awful, it would be great to look at him and say "how did that doofus win a Super Bowl?" Maybe he's like Forest Gump and he'll just inexplicably find himself there. Life is, after all, like a box of chocolates.

This is probably the best analogy of Pederpson that I've seen.  Spot on.

the 2nd clip in this was the td called back for holding, but that flag had nothing to do with peters blocking two grown men like they were children. this dude is outrageous.

this is your daily reminder that rich kotite won a playoff game

And Barry Switzer won a super bowl
And Charlie Manuel won a world series and I thought he was functionally mentally disabled.  If Doug can get the Eagles a Super Bowl, I will gladly eat my words.

Charlie isn't dumb, just West Virginian. I know PhDs with worse hick accents than Charlie's.

Charlie was perfect for the team because Rollins/Utley/Hamels/Howard etc. weren't rebellious mess up the chemistry guys so he just had to manage. They respected him and that was enough.
