I saw Chris Clemons finally retired. A rare example of the Reid Eagles letting someone go while he still had gas in the tank. I guess the King fits into that category too. I still find it difficult to believe he's decent now. He used to be my poster boy for what was wrong with the Reid era. Those were more innocent days.

Hard to fathom that some of these guys are still kicking around the league. Emil Igwenagu is still waiting for his first NFL reception. Jordan Norwood came through the Birds sometime last decade and I didn't even remember he still existed until the Super Bowl. And of course the noted CFer AQ Shipley.

Finally, it shows how good BB is that he can make that crew of Eagle cast offs into real NFL players. Maybe one day he will get his hands on Josey.

Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on August 06, 2016, 10:47:52 PM
I heard that Clemons and Reid didn't get along at all which is why he was sent on his way

I'm kinda surprised Harbor went to NE where he's the third TE. He could've had a bigger role elsewhere as a number two.

Trade was kind of a disaster. Eagles won't even get the pick and they threw more money at the equally worthless Chase Daniel.

Probably like 2 years ago, Lurie was doing an interview with 1 of the ESPN radio guys....pretty sure it was Lebatard.  Anyway, Lurie was asked what the worst contract was that he gave out to a player, and he didn't name names (not that he had to) but he said something like  there was a cornerback from Oakland that he wished he could have a mulligan on....or something to that effect.  It was painfully obvious he was referring to NnamdiI was really surprised that he gave any specifics at all, rather than some bland "eh, sometimes these things don't work out" kind of response.

Curious what his answer would be today after Maxipad, Murray, Chase Daniel, etc.

at least Nnamdi had a track record of having played well...and while the end result was horrible it made sense at the time of the signing

Daniels deal was and is truly mind blowing when you factor in everything

Kinda surprising bc he's vested so if he's on the roster week one his salary is fully guaranteed

Actually not a disaster, sure they're paying $2.5 million more for Daniel but he knows the offense...a lot of Bradfords money is off the books now. Are we really that upset we don't get a 7th round pick?

And for the record I hate the Daniel contract but it became a whole lot easier to digest after the Bradford trade.

I grew up on the PA side of the river and only went to NJ for concerts and the shore. As a kid I always thought of NJ as a foreign place where people read the Star-Ledger and watched NJN. When I found out that most of the Philly athletes live over there, it felt like a betrayal.

The show on Vick was good.

A lot of focus on his time in Philly obviously. That 2010 season was fun to look back on. The Vick, Shady, Pimp and Maclin days...man.

And he threw one of the most beautiful deep balls ever.

One thing I didn't know - Lurie said that Obama called him and thanked him for giving him a second chance.

2 worst games I've ever been to were against the Vikings.  85 was my first game ever.  Eagles weren't very good but they had a big lead at halftime and blew it.  And then there's Joe farging Webb. Vick was as awful as Webb was good in that game.  Probably only a half full stadium though, so many eyes were spared the horror.

My recollection isn't so much that the Eagles let him go because he was 30, but that there was open war between Braman and large segments of the team (including Simmons) over both money and the firing of Buddy. A big chunk of that defense was part of the lawsuit that opened up free agency, which made them ineligible to be protected in the early years of free agency. And Clyde and Seth immediately left to play for Buddy in Arizona as a final farg you to Braman.

Am I reading this wrong?  Alonso posts photo with Spanish language promo-talk.  McCoy catches feelings.

Is there more to it?  Looks like Alonso could just as well have posted a pic of any other tackle and the same message?  He's hyping the fans, etc...not targeting Shady, right?

To my way of thinking, Shady has no self confidence, takes slights anywhere he can find them, is pathetic.

yeah i'm not sure if my eagles fandom blinded me to his bitchassness or if it just got way worse when he was traded.

I'm assuming that he'll just be taking a 1 yr deal wherever he goes, so for anyone hoping to someday see him back in Philly, next year could be a possibility because I doubt the Eagles retain Alston, Smith, and Matthews.  They might keep 1 or 2, but def not all 3.

I like him. Wouldn't mind seeing him back if he can still play but I'm not sweating it if the Eagles never pursue him.

And they got rid of Kyle Arrington for him. One ex-Eagle who hasn't made any meaningful contributions to an NFL team in years for another.

A bit surprising because earlier it was reported he left without a contract.  Either a bad report or someone got desperate and caved.

QuoteBuffalo Bills wide receiver Jordan Matthews, practicing Sunday for the first time since he was acquired Friday in a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles, is being evaluated for a potential chest injury.

It is unclear when Matthews suffered the injury in Sunday's practice. He finished the session and later left the field with a trainer. He was not made available to reporters because of the injury.

Clearly a broken heart from being separated from his AO1.
