Nice pick - really like this one
dont think he was worth trading up for but its a good pick if he can turn into a starting nfl safety...cause he aint gonna be a good corner....i think he can
Quote
Strengths
Tall cornerback with long frame. Has the ability to disrupt wide receivers off the line of scrimmage and can mirror them out of their release. Jams and disrupts shallow crossers. Will throw his body around in run support if needed. Solid tackler. Attacks ball at catch point and makes it hard for receiver to finish the catch. Was a three-year starter at free safety before moving to cornerback this year. Can break hard on throws in front of him. Instinctive in zone with ball skills to match.
Weaknesses
Linear body type with average play strength. Will struggle to carry NFL deep speed. Lacks an accelerator and is not a recovery-type cornerback. Limited as a man-cover corner. Has change-of-direction issues in tight spaces. Plays into boundary too often. Had to fight through a leg issue at one point during the 2014 season. Likely a scheme-specific player.

Round 2
Sources Tell Us
"My initial grade on him was too low. I saw some things I didn't like early on and was probably too hard on him. The more I watched the more I saw who he really was. He's got a shot to be pretty good." -- NFC directer of college scouting "I think he's going to be good. He projects well. I think he'll be better in the pros than in college." - AFC defensive backs coach

So it sounds like the #Eagles will start Eric Rowe off at CB. The franchise hasn't drafted a CB this high since 2002 (Lito/Sheldon).
Eric Rowe
CB
Utah
Height: 6-1
Weight: 205
He is one of the most versatile defensive backs in the draft. To go up and get him is a heck of a move by Chip Kelly. I think he can be a star safety, but a lot of scouts love him as a corner.
A+

not suprising since walter farging thurmond is their second corner right now...but he should be a safety
They can start him off at CB all they want. He's an 8-10 year starter at safety. Book it.

how could i forget such a talented force
Because he's the only defensive player that wasn't mentioned all offseason in trade rumors.
So they gave up their second and both fifth rounders for this guy and Miami's sixth (191)?

the second doesnt count...they got a better second
they traded two 5ths for a 6th and the ability to move up 5 spots in the second round
It wasn't a criticism. Just an observation since no one else bothered...
lil guy mentioned it in the draft thread...and he actually did it after it happened
Lil guy disappeared after tipping picks...we took his fun away
he should tip picks more often then
I like the pick, too. Agree that they may be best served with him at safety which might be the position with the least talent in the league outside of a handful of the top guys.

Words can't explain how blessed I am to be an Eagle! I can not wait to get to Philly and work! #EaglesNation
Another kid who the Eagles were all over the past 3 months. Senior Day, Utah pro day, private visit and workout here. Seems like a great pick, especially in the 2nd round
Chip said they targeted Byron Jones and Rowe. If Jones has fallen to the 2nd I think they would have traded up for him.

Ignore list.
Will wear #32
don't remember seeing rowe on the field last night. did he play at all???
they actually used maragos at safety last night. ???
nope.....jenkins played the nickel
I saw him out there on special teams, that's it.
Traded to New England for OL Josh Kline and a draft pick.
Don't like this.

Kline's coming off shoulder surgery but he's depth at OL which they desperately needed. Wonder what the pick is, can't imagine anything more than a 5th.

Conditional 4th
That conditional 4th could become a 3rd
Rowe looked to me like he was on the bubble anyway, so it's great they got some value for him. I'm also not sold on McKelvin...but he's apparently here to stay.
rowe has been terrible this camp, but theres obviously some talent there. if hes out of position, which he may be, then hes expendable since you have 2 good safetys already.
regardless schwartz was done with him. gotta let the man shape his own roster.
and cross off another chip pick.
Kline is a solid interior OL depth guy...so that's good.
What'll really make me happy is if the 4th turns into a 3rd.
A 4th that could turn into a 3rd and a solid depth guy at a position of need is good value. I like Rowe, I just think the Eagles D coordinators have been too stubborn keeping him at corner when every one in the world can see he's better suited as a safety.
theres no doubt belly will get something valuable out of rowe....very possibly even turn him into a pro bowl caliber safety...shtein he might even turn him into a servicable corner....but since that was never happening here might as well get some value out of him
All the better for us if he can maximize the guy's potential.
Schefter now saying they are in "deep discussions" to trade Kline
Damn Howie...rock on, son.
Meh. On one hand, it's good that they got something for him because he just wasn't a consistent corner. On the other hand, I think he could have been a very good, at least, safety. But for whatever reason, that wasn't going to happen...so this is better than throwing him on the scrap heap.
guess is indy for a conditional pick...like a 6th that could become a 5th or something
i cant see them getting a player back for kline.
seemed like the pats thought rowe was going to be cut. howie kept him on the roster and got some picks back for him.

Here igy you prob should have quoted this one and SD's previous too.
within 30 seconds you were happy they got him and happy they might get rid of him
honestly thought rowe would get cut...so getting something for him is a win, imo...albeit a small one.

You're not this simple minded...come on.
I know next to nothing about the dude other than he is interior OL and played both LG and RG. He was pretty solid in NE. That's all I know.
They need OL depth.
Slow ya roll.
PFF - for whatever that's worth - had him as New England's best olineman last year.
I don't know much about him and some of their grades from players I have watched seem curious to me - but it does seem he wasn't a dumpster fire last year.
Rowe sucks and I'm not even convinced he would have worked as a safety for the Eagles. Maybe he'll be a Hall of Famer for the Pats, they even made Patrick Chung useful, but he was worthless here.

That's like saying Nolan Carroll is the best Eagles corner. Anyone who saw the AFCCG saw this line in action.
Time to retire Death Rowe

Reportedly the Pats have removed Kline from the deal and it is now just the draft pick
his medicals must be horrible then
nothing has been announced "officially" but it doesnt strike me as howie's MO to just take this dude out of the deal and go with a conditional pick
you can argue about howie being a bad judge of talent, but this christ killer knows the market

he can't suck and be a HOF
he could have been a really good safety here but for whatever reason they weren't going there....belly will do something with him

Patriots are releasing OL Josh Kline, who initially was included in trade to Philly before his rights reverted back to NE, per source.
In the end, Rowe was sold for a 2018 4th rounder. No value coming back for 2 years. I guess it was either this or cut the kid.
another chipper pick, gone.
Looks like Howie had a 3rd team involved almost from the get go that was going to take Kline, but they backed out at the last minute, which is why Howie dropped Kline from the trade.
Wonder which team is was.
Whoever they're playing this week?

Superbowlz!
Conditions of Eric Rowe trade is 4th rder becomes 3d if he plays 50 pct of snaps in either 2016 or 2017, NFL source said.
From McLane
So Belly will be shutting him down at 49.75%
Hoody gives 0 fargs about a 3rd round draft pick if Rowe is worth putting on the field
