joe buck?
You probably know by now, but it seems to be Buck, Aikman and Bradshaw.
And Buck seems to have a cold. Voice is even more annoying.
How bad did it look like Buck wanted to make out with Aikman? Conversely, he seems repulsed by Bradshaw.
That's a perfectly normal reaction to Bradshaw.
his voice has been farged up for months
"thats exactly right joe," troy aikman followed "you sound weird, which means you don't sound normal. and that doesn't help the broadcast."
National anthem kid = gasface
Alrighty....no injuries please
This Dream Team shtein is sickening. Leave it to Fox hype the shtein out of it. :boom
Oh good, they're advertising all the new shows they'll cancel before they're through the first season.
Babin's lucky he didn't get a flag there
wow that was a flag 20 years ago and they didnt throw it
1st play of the game Aso makes the tackle. Not used to see CBs do anything in run support, especially within 10 yards.
Sack Kullen Jenkins. And of course there's a farging facemask flag PF. Automatic 1st down.
damn some eagle got rolled up from behind, dirty play no flag
casey mathews doing a whole lot of nothing right now
hey look at that, another flag
Te'Owhatever paid absolutely no mind to the screen on that play.
Flags on every play, announcers who are bored, and the video keeps cutting out. Thank god football's back.
Anyone else having problems with Fox? My screen keeps freezing during every play then unfreezing once the play is over.

Plus, he doesn't have nice hair like his brother. He needs to hit up Polamalu after the game for some product.
Zero pressure on third and long. Yay!
I'm not having any issues with the feed btw
flags on everything except jenkins being held on the play where he got the facemask
I haven't had any video problems.
Just a whole lot of yellow spots all over the goddamn screen.
Matthews - BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
mexico fox is good
i dont have hd but im watching on the hd channel. holla.
i know it's washburn's scheme, but seeing a gaping hole up the middle before the play is farging annoying
What's with the wide farging tackles every play? Roethlisberger just exploited that bullshtein
Bradshaw is worse here than on the pregame show.
assante got burrrrrrrrrned
need to spend more on that secondary
Nice coverage moneybags
Wowowow

He was on the other side of the formation....
Jumping the route again assuming Ben rushed the pass.
this 5 yard thing on the kickoff is ridiculous
farg you goodell
i like that Buck is ripping these retarded kickoffs.
farging nate allen for some reason pulled up then went for a pump fake...i dont think he gets there in time for a sack but if he beelines for the qb he may get enough pressure to cause an underthrow or a deflection
was there anyone in the stadium that didnt know andy was going to run that exact play...so predictable
yeah, don't know why he jumped. if the blitz gets there it's actually a bad job by the wr to not adjust his route
this was the type of game where donovan would come out after a long ass drive and throw 3 worm burners and they'd punt
Nice trick play there on 3rd and 1.
Jamaal Jackson got quite a gut even for a center. Thought they were supposed to get more lean and quick for Mudd.

lol those were the days...
cooper was out wide with a 5 yard cushon, he could have easily run a slant on that blitz and they get it
actually this is the game where he tears it up and then spends the last half of the game giggling it up on the sideline doing caucasion jigs and rat tailing his his teammates with his neck towel for the whole second half like he played the best quarter and a half of football in the history of the world
so the run D and linebackers still blow
The pass D isn't doing much better. For farg's sake, they just let the guy sidestep five yard down the field in front of them!
block in the back by hines ward not called
if washburn continues to run this wide 9 gap the team is going to get just murdered all year on that delay to the rb that goes just underneath the end....because the eagles have no linebackers on either side that can fill and tackle there
This is brutal.
Jesus Christ, 9 guys in the box and they still run over the D
3 minutes of offensive time...jesus
Linebackers are for chumps.

You probably say a lot of stupid shtein when you're wasted, too.
2 passes completed vs Allen on first drive and he and LBs get murdered this drive. Teams may be able to move the ball without ever throwing on the CBs.
It's good they have a solid backup plan to this Casey Matthews experiment. Whew.

this shouldnt be a surprise....the defense is going to be suspect all year...plus lets be fair this is the steelers....the eagles are trying to get to where they are...its a franchise led by a coach who takes every single second of every game like its the superbowl...clearly the eagles have a long way to go to get to the highest levels of the nfl...this is men vs boys
This is pathetic
Good god. Not to harp on this, but Matthews literally just got tossed out of the lane with ridiculous ease.
Haha the zesty qb rules just gave the Eagles a sack.
Wow, that was a gift call.

the right end got held big time on that play, and oh look nate farging allen

14 plays 80 yds 7:36
14 plays 96 yds 8:15
That is the Steelers two drives.
Preseason or not that is ingoddamnexcusable.
i personally know 15 high school coaches that coach the shteintiest high school ball in texas that could still do a better job than this slop
Got a late start watching the game because I got home late from work so I sped through the 1st quarter and man, the defense looks like ass so far.
Front 4 are getting a little pressure on their own.
Blitzes seem to be ineffective.
Run D is terrible.
Asante should probably play the receiver instead of watching the QB when there's no help over the top.
Matthews is lost.
it was semi nauseating last week watching them in a non descript game but it is testicle exploding anger watching these linebackers in a game where the eagles are getting embarrassed

Felt that way before kickoff. Preseason games are a joke. There is no more vanilla team in preseason than the Eagles and AR. They don't do shtein. They always finish 1-3, 2-2. Don't score a whole lot, always have one real zesty game. We all knew, know the LB's blow ass and will all year. Safety is still a huge concern. If this was week 1 against the Rams I'd panic. I agree with the entire post, but especially the part about Vick. Other than missing Maclin, the offense is the same as last year. The D has a new coaching staff and a bunch of new players trying to gel in a short amount of time so they get a bit of a free pass for tonight.

Yeah, especially on defense. Eagles have blitzed several times....corner blitzes, LB blitzes....much more "creative" than what we're used to seeing from them this time of year. It makes sense though because they don't have the time to work on this stuff in practice so they've got no choice but to do it in the games and make their mistakes publicly instead of privately on the practice field. Hopefully these fargers learn from the film and are able to put it together relatively quickly.

I don't know if I can remember a linebacker tabbed A starter that looked worse. Maybe McCoy? I've seen Matthews get walked out of lanes at least five times tonight, a couple of times the guard or center simply used one arm and brushed him out of the way.
dont get me wrong i dont like chaney at all but its really hard to understand how matthews is ahead of him on the depth chart...he is other level bad
The worst part of this game? The backups will probably play half decent, but barely anyone is going to see it.
For all we know he might develop into a solid contributor, given a couple of years. But as a rookie, he is abysmal. I'd like to think they see the light and do a shuffle or bring in a vet, but that would be admitting they were wrong, which is something they don't do.

Chaney is playing outside. I expect they will see the failed experiment and move Chaney back inside by the opener and hopefully by next game. Matthews is clueless out there as well as being manhandled.

Meh, preseason. hard to get worked up about this game anymore than it was worthwhile to get too amped about the last game. The line gets pressure without blitzing, that's been a huge plus. they just can't seem to tackle for shtein though. The secondary will be scary good. The linebackers blow chunks.

whats even worse is castillo has them playing a 9-wide almost exclusively on 1st and 2nd down. I dont know if hes experimenting just to see how the LB's play the run, but it failed miserably tonight and I expect it to continue.
exposing the middle of the line like that expecting those LB's to fill the gaps is a recipe for disaster considering their lack of talent. matter of fact they were so clueless (or castillo was) when Rothlisberger decided to pull a pop warner qb sneak for 9 yeards.

Yeah, same thing. I had back spasms a few weeks ago and got a boatload of it. Later I used small doses pre-workout and have had some of the best workouts of my life. 1/2 of a 5mg tab is just enough to not feel any head effects but still blocks pain/discomfort, so even heavy lifting feels somewhat effortless. Kinda strange maxing out the set but not feeling it, the body just won't do any more. Obviously not recommended post op though.
My attempt to look at the bright side..
Vick was dropping back, making all of his reads...and then forcing it into a place. I think once we get to the regular season, he takes off and runs if nobody is open. He seems a bit tentative to run in the preseason.
-the Eagles did not get dominated on either line
-linebackers mostly looked lost
-not sure what Vick was looking at, very bad decisions with the football
-depth/backups are good
-it's only preseason, thank God
Quote from: FastFreddie on August 19, 2011, 07:06:18 AM

Were we watching the same game? The D line had no pass rush and left running lanes open that you could have driven a caddy through. Some of that you can attribute to the 'wide 9' but not all of it. Cole and Babin were basically swallowed by whoever the Steelers threw out there at Tackle.
The O-line I'd say was average. Run blocking was okay, pass D was meh.
I saw the DL getting upfield consistently, which is what Washburn coaches. But as expected, the linebackers weren't holding ground. Run defense was awful. But ROFLburger was getting hit quite a lot.
The disappointing and surprising thing was that the pass defense looked like shtein. The safeties are below average, and the linebackers are worse. This is the manifestation of the Eagles placing disproportionate value on DL and CB.
the steelers offensive line is garbage....they dont dominate anyone...but even as zesty as they are they still basically handled the eagles d line and put up points at will
if the eagles pass d isnt even close to ready for a run-oriented team, cant wait to see a pass-oriented one.
Oddly enough, the O/U on Steelers and Eagles wins has not changed since last night.
This is what happens when someone other than me starts a game thread.
Are you complaining about the coat hangar abortion game, or the coat hangar abortion thread?
my bright note would be that i knew pittsburgh was the superior team going into the game and they still were coming out of the game

It was a preseason game. Settle down, Mary.
Id like to curb stomp Vince Young for ever opening his frigging mouth.
shtein is getting out of hand. the media frenzy is cute and its cool to see your team spotlighted on espn all the time, but lets face it--a lot can be said for continuity in this league. the d coach is 1st year, 6 of the d-lineman are brand new, and 2 new corners were brought in. if castillo gels this group in one year hes a friggin genius.
pains to say it, but the creeper team this year might be those guys they call americas team down in texas. they are loaded, nobody is saying a word about them and that its exactly how I would want it as an eagles fan.

Yes.
And leave it to IGY to put all of this stock into the preseason game....make it CLEAR that the Steelers are the better team.
Best things to happen from that "game"?
No injuries
The media can now focus on the "clearly superior" team, the Steelers and stop with the Dream Team garbage. Let the Eagles do their jobs instead of deal with the hype.
you are disputing that the Steeler 1s ass farged the Eagle 1s?
It has nothing to do with just last nights preseason game.
It has everything to do with the glaring weaknesses that we all knew they had from the jump. Seems to me that we are making excuses because its a preseason game. The d-line can get pressure and the corners can play balls out, it still doesnt excuse the fact that inside the hashes will be abused game to game.
I think the mindset of reid is the "explosive" offense they had last year will be the same (and it very well can and should be), so the d can stay in nickel with all 3 corners as the other team plays catch up with the pass...but as you saw last night if they get behind it can be a whole different ball game.
Are you kidding? It was a preseason game. It doesn't count anymore than the first game counted.
If some people want to throw themselves off the Walt Whitman Bridge over it, that's fine by me.
I think I'll wait until the regular season starts before I start panicking like a little bitch.

:yay
I think this team could be really good, but we probably won't know until midway through the season if they are gonna be. They traditionally start slow under Reid and with all the new pieces I don't expect this year to be any different.
I'm nervous. Just tell me everything will be fine.
The same Steelers team got beat by the taterskins last week, Rex Grossman put up yards against their first team defense. I wouldn't put too much stock into a preseason game.
I don't put stock into the outcomes of PS games
However it doesn't take much to see when a team is whipped physically or to see certain parts of the team have issues (LBs)
That is what concerns me the most.
Yeah, forget the score or even Vick's picks.
The steelers manhandled the defense. and yes, they were missing Dixon and Patterson, but with this new 9 wide technique, i don't know how much they will help vs the run, you need a big lineback to come fill the center gap and casey ain't it.
You've convinced me. Why even bother watching the rest of the season? They're doomed.
If you want to commit suicide after a preseason game, I say go with the feeling.
The LBs did not look good, but as far as having big LBs I don't think that is the answer. Tennessee doesn't exactly have monsters in their LB corp. And they were usually pretty successful against the run.
Matthews didn't look great last night, but really there wasn't one player that looked good on the first team defense that did.
it's cool, rome said it doesn't matter. it's preseason so it doesn't count that the steelers got 10 yards per carry
The d looked like shtein but I'm trying to keep a semi optimistic view as to why. There's several new starters, a new coaches and a new DC with a new scheme and they've had a little more than 2 weeks to practice. Castillo mixed in a few blitzes last night and I'm hoping that's because they were treating this game more or less like another practice. The offseason was short and they didn't have the luxury of having the last 4 months to teach schemes and techniques so they are forced to do it in the games.
That said, the interior of the DL is a concern considering Patterson's health. Cole and Babin were lining up extremely wide last night to get better angles on the pass rush and that left the interior exposed, which was a large reason the Steelers were able to run right up the gut. LB's didn't help, but the Eagles were simply outnumbered in the middle because Cole and Babin were out of the play before it even started.
The offense is what concerned me the most though. The players are mostly unchanged and the system is the same. Last night they played as if they all just met for the first time in the locker room.

They destroyed Baltimore. I guess that doesn't count either, right Sunny?
for 2 defensive series of the 1st quarter? not really.
lol at destroyed
So, to recap...
They played very well against the Ravens in a meaningless game and they played like shtein against the Steelers in a meaningless game. So should I be encouraged by what they did against Bodymore or should I panic like a funhole about last night's awfulness?
Decisions, decisions.

they played an entire half against pittsburgh and looked like shtein.

This is from the NFC East blog on ESPN:
QuoteIn conclusion, it's like this: As the Giants did Saturday, the Eagles looked lousy in almost all respects Thursday. So I point this out, as I did with the Giants on Saturday. What I am not saying here is that the Eagles are in trouble as a result of anything we saw Thursday. The sky is not falling. This game matters not at all, except as a potential learning opportunity. Did it point to some potential trouble spots? Sure. But it doesn't mean the team isn't as good as people thought it would be. It just means the Eagles had a bad night in August. Kind of like the Steelers had last week against the taterskins. And you saw how they bounced back from that.
Pretty much exactly how I felt about last night.
i'm not telling you what to think...just trying to help you understand what your watching on tv
by the way, overreacting nancy, no one has said they are doomed or they suck, or they won't do anything in the season.
we've all pointed out they played like shtein last night and they better fix shtein if they want to make any noise this year

no you got Hoyda hurt cause people talked negative about your team
LOL @ "your" team.
Ray Diddy broke down Matthews performance on sportsrise. As we all know the Steelers guards and center were getting open field blocks on the lbs because of the wide 9. He showed Matthews getting dominated and the safeties and corners having to make plays.
MLBs are successful for a few reasons, some are just physical, can shed a block at the point of attack and make a play, some are quick enough and instinctive enough to avoid blocks so that they're in a position to make tackles. Some are just great at seeing the play develop, filling holes and making the tackle. Matthews is none of the above. Because he's so inept at reading plays he was biting on play action fakes and letting the TE run free unchecked. Throw Chaney back in the middle, at least he can defend the run. He didn't look good on the outside.
I'd also like to throw out there that Tatupu is still out there. I'm not his biggest fan but he's light years better than what's already here and it doesn't look like he's getting a lot of offers. Maybe get him in here on a 1 year deal.
Tatupu is still out there for a reason. It makes me wonder why no one has even sniffed around him yet.
He was released because he wouldn't restructure his deal with the Seahawks...meaning he probably wants too much money. He's obviously not getting it and the closer to the season we get the more leverage he loses. Bring him in here on a one year deal. He plays the MIKE and is sadly better than our other LBs.
He is not very good anymore. That's the real problem. Even the skins opted not to make a deal.
The Skins LBs are much better than the Eagles. In fact, is there any teams LBs you wouldn't take over the Eagles? I'm not saying he's a stud, what I am saying is that he's an upgrade over Casey Matthews.
Quote from: SD on August 20, 2011, 11:15:57 AM

People are suggesting his knees are shot and he had an operation in the off-season.
So how does it hurt bringing him in for a physical? They did that with Smith and it looks like he will play.
I'd rather see them bring in Kirk Morrison.
QuoteCasey Matthews is the starter at middle linebacker, and while that seems to have some Eagles fans in a state of panic, the coaches aren't worried at all. They want the fourth-round draft pick to get as many reps as possible running the defense. Clearly, Matthews didn't play a great game on Thursday -- nobody did on defense, or on offense for that matter -- but just as obviously the coaches aren't down on him. They know where Matthews is at the moment and they know where they hope he is in a matter of weeks and months.

He should be suspended for the season for that. That's the type of shtein that ruins peoples career.
expect coach omar epps to do nothing
If that was a QB he did that too they'd empty his bank account.
If it was Brady or Manning Goodell would fly in from NY and execute the guy at halftime on the 50yd line.
