Favre upgraded to questionable for tonight's game, so it is very possible that he will play against the Eagles.
Good!
theres a game next week?
where are they playing?
on a football field, probably.
well, their homefield won't be ready and apparently this outdoor field is an utter wreck.
we're at home this week, pg.
oh wow. lol
Sinus infections seriously make me no better than bong hits for breakfast. :-D :paranoid
Are you dissing bong hits?
i thought pg was joking....yikes.
lol, no seriously, I have had a head cold/sinus thing for a week now....I was on the phone for work today and I must have sounded like a complete and utter ditz all day.
Ran 8 miles yesterday and felt like my face would explode from the pressure. :-\
They give you medical marijuana for sinus problems now?
they'll give medical marijuana for dry mouth if you live in CA.
You ran 8 miles with a sinus infection? Damn girl. Did you ever get a cortisone shot for that? When I get that sinus crap going I head to my Doctor and he gives me a cortisone shot. Amazing. Opens up your sinuses and your like new again. Lasts about 2-3 days and you may have to go back for one more.
Minneapolis looks miserable right now. Apparently that Univ. of Minnesota stadium was not built for football after November hence no heating system.

I thought it was 14?
well i only looked in one place cause its off the board most places....but the hilton superbook has 10.5
i expected it to be higher as well but this line may have come out before last night im not sure
its gonna be off until they officially name joe webb the starter but id imagine itll settle around 14 1/2
And 14.5 it is.
Also, the early line on Cowboys/Eagles is Eagles -9.

So that makes this weekend having games on thursday, saturday, sunday, monday, and tuesday.
Sweet. :yay
f yea......division champs
they won the division last week easy
for real tho
well if you want to buy an official eagles licensed cap to make yourself feel good, ill support your decision
This is the way to win a division. Not only are the Eagles champs, but all three NFC East rivals are in a fairly demolished state. Particularly if Rexy puts the Giants out of their misery next week.
So Birds game will displace "Minute To Win It" and "The Biggest Loser". Thank you God!

Well, it's gotta happen at least once a year, right?
Plus, the old place used to have "doubleheaders" where the Giants and Jets would play home games on the same weekend, opening up even more quiet weekends for the Meadowlands. I know they did that this year on opening weekend. Not sure if it's to be a continuing thing.

They should have one team who can't sell out their own stadium, like the Bucs or Chargers, play one "home" game there every season in order to ensure 17-week coverage.

Yeah, except the play calls were for guys running 20 yards down the field all night. No adjustments made to that blitz. That's on Reid/Morningwood.
I like Shady and Maclin.
Those calls need to be made at the LOS. They aren't necessarily audibles just sight adjustments. Colinsworth said it late in the game and he was right, the receiver needs to adjust and you throw it to the spot the blitzer vacated. Yeah, they may play Robber on that, but at least make them make a play. Another issue with Vick as far as mechanics go, he needs to stop holding the ball at hip level. Until earlier this year it resulted in a ton of fumbles. He seems to be revertng to it now and he is fumbling a lot more.

Bottom line is that the Eagles are essentially the rebuilding 7-9 team we thought they were pre-season, but lucked/coached their way into getting a QB season for the ages out of some guy from the federal prison system.
The young offensive skill players are pretty much where they need to be, but the rest of the team is either wet behind the ears or just not that good. To be an elite and consistent team, it's gonna take them another couple years to train who they need to train and upgrade what they need to upgrade, and hopefully enough of the excellent QB play they've gotten this year will still be there.
Sometimes a team at the Eagles skill level lucks their way into a ring, but this is a team with glaring holes that someone like Belichick would love to tear apart.

55 called passes to 16 runs....holy farg, pathetic
and its not like they were ever down big that they needed to throw a lot to catch up
plus they were actually moving the ball a bit when they ran...and vick was getting destroyed...and it was a decent idea to combat the blitz...and...and...and...WHAT THE farg
You could visibly see Reid pissed on the sideline tonight.
not that this is why they lost but how amazingly dead was the crowd? lots of no shows...no energy in the building....granted the eagles never really gave them a reason to cheer but this was one of the worst if not the worst performance by a philly crowd ever
even the booing was awful.

in fact the only person who was any good was mccoy...and he simply didnt get the ball enough thank you marty
Looked like Pimp was running some lousy routes out there, but Vick didn't have much time to look for him anyway. O-line was in turnstile mode. There were only a handful of plays in which there was something that could really be called the pocket.
I thought Maclin and McCoy showed up, Celek was his OK self, and a couple defenders didn't look too bad. Eldra Buckley had a nice special teams tackle. Everyone else was subpar. Including Rocca and Akers. Maybe Dorenbos had a decent game, can't say I was paying a lot of attention to that magic bastich.
Four different DE's collapsed down on the backside of run plays allowing long runs on cutbacks. Tapp more than once.
Vick is just now starting his postgame conference because of treatment...........said he played the entire game injured

Excellent observation. I had them pegged for a 6-10, 7-9 finish. I was telling people 8-8 would be huge for this team.
Division champs, 10-6 at worst. Could they be the Cardinals from two years ago? Doubt it. Defense is way to beat up and a huge liability right now. The possible playoff match ups are all brutal.

Fire Reid going into a playoff run, awesome idea..
The game wasn't that important. It was the difference between a #2 or 3 seed, MAYBE. Doubt it. I'm not reading into this game at all. This team has shown they can score with anyone, and stay in any game. This team has shown they can farg it up against some of the worst teams in the league. We've known this basically since 2003. Let's just hope this time the better side shows up 3 weeks in a row..
you mean four weeks in a row...and theres no hope for three much less winning a superbowl....the nfc five years ago maybe...but this aint your mamas nfc...eagles will go into the wild card weekend as probably the 5th best team in the conference
straight up i still think they can beat atl, but if they hypothetically get to the nfc title game against them theyd get run out of the building pushing mike vick in a stretcher
how he is still walking is beyond me
oh they can beat anyone in the conference
with the exception of new orleans
what they cant do
is beat three of no - atl - gb - chi
in a row
oh absolutely...right now im hoping the giants make it so at least we have the shot to embarrass them before getting cut up in chicago
and at this point id put GB in that zone
rodgers might just be the best qb in the conference and their defense is sneaky good and especially strong in the middle.
Eagles are capable of beating anyone in the NFC, the only teams I'd be real worried about are NO and GB.. hopefully they'd only have to play one. They're capable of beating both teams, but Brees or Rodgers would make it a 40+ point game. Hopefully the Eagles get an easier matchup in the Wildcard, every team in the conference is capable of playing like shtein and losing to a lesser team, so ideally GB or NO take an L early and wouldn't have to deal with
take out the nfc west champ who the eagles arent going to play and you are most likely left with no - gb - chi - atl...you really think the eagles can beat three of those four teams in a row....god bless you if you do but that is just lunacy imo
I just went thru every scenario and I think the easiest possibility I came up with is NY/TB - CHI - ATL ... good luck with that.
The eagles could very easily beat Atlanta. They're the least of worries.
It'd be more can they beat GB and CHI in a row, and if they get past Green Bay I think it's possible. Jay Cutler could tear them apart or he could throw 4 INTs.
The game was a very forgivable pass/who cares as the #2 spot was a pipe dream anyway. The bad thing is this now makes the Cowboy game irrelevant so the starters likely won't play much, if at all, and it's likely an easy win for Dallas which farging blows. :boom

you think gb beating chi at home this week is a pipe dream?...thats a coin flip at best with gb probably getting a small advantage
or are you saying the pipe dream was the eagles beating minny and dallas to close out the season
I didn't see GB beating the Bears with or without Rodgers. They'll probably lose now because they have nothing to play for, but prior to tonight I had the Bears taking the W.
thats fine but with the way gb has played the last two weeks i dont see how them winning at home against anyone in a 'playoff game' is a pipe dream
Meh, call it what you want, I didn't see them winning the game (which, to me, makes it a pipe dream). I'm not sure what else to tell you...
This team won't beat Chicago, Green Bay, or New Orleans in the playoffs. Only reason they've made a season of it is because of Vick's legs. Good D's will contain him and beat him into the ground. If this team can build a decent line within the next few years, then it'll be time to think Superbowl, but not now.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel, though I don't think they did their best. They were flat all night. In the grand scheme of things this loss isn't that terrible, but Super Bowl teams win these games.
So apparently the Eagles FO pushed the NFL hard for a reschedule for 2 reasons:
1. Thought the elements reduced their advantage in the game.
2. Were concerned that people would cite the state of emergency and attempt to get refunds.
Had I known this, I would have been rooting for them to lose. Assfaces.

Except this is incorrect. They shtein the bed so bad, Reid will put all the starters out there for at least the 1st quarter if not the whole half. Now that they convinced me otherwise, they're playing exactly how I thought they would - get in, one and done (two if lucky).
Anyone else get the bad feeling they're going to get blown out again round 1 of the playoffs? I just see too many late season similarities from the coaching staff to think they'll change.

gb will blow them out...i think they will play the giants close but ultimately lose
Sub in Woodson for Winfield off the edge now, plus Matthews on the other side....then trying to keep up with Rodgers with Kurt Coleman spells big time blowout.
I still think they have the Giants number though as that win mind-farged the hell out of Eli and Coughlin.

This post would have meant something before last night. Now it's drivel. Yes, if they can lose at home to the Vikings, they are obviously a flawed team. It's not a "bad feeling" or anything novel unless it's a little less obvious. Now go eat a burrito.

Don't forget to sub out Adrian Peterson's 125 yards and sub in Brandon Jackson's 25 yards.
The Packers, Giants, and Eagles are all pretty much the same. Deeply flawed teams with some good core players and coaches. They've all had really questionable games. The Packers have a better defense, but I think a blowout loss is far from a sure thing or even likely. There's a reason they're still fighting to get into the playoffs.

The problem is the coaching staff could have gone one of two ways after the Giants game. One way would have been to game plan differently since every team in the league is using the same defensive game plan against the Eagles, way 2 would have been to adjust. They're not going to adjust as evidence by the Vikings game. Just like they didn't want to adjust after the end of the season loss to Dallas. Similarities galore.

Im not worried about their rushing game as you shouldn't either. They are a passing team that can expose flawed secondarys, especially the deep pass such as the eagles right now. In case you missed it, Kurt Coleman and Lindley are starting. If you're happy about Jennings going up against either of them then I give you credit. Not to mention this is a changed defense right now compared to when they played that first game of the season. I dont like the way Green Bay can continuously spread this defense 4 or 5 wide and use the short dumps and intermediate routes across the field. That equation doesnt work well for the multiple 7th rd talents on this eagles roster.
blowout might be a bit strong because the eagles can score with the packers if vick is on....but a gb easy win (if not blowout) is somewhere btwn very possible and likely
the eagles have played exactly eight good minutes of football in the last two games...they didnt play particularly well against dallas and were losing to houston at home in the fourth quarter...hopefully this 10 day 'break' will allow them to get some shtein straight on both sides of the ball
and swapping peterson for jackson is meaningless...the eagles have shut down almost every running back they have faced and still have been bludgeoned thru the air...shtein they gave up a thousand pts in the second half to friggin kerry collins and they shut out chris johnson that game...teams dont need to run to beat the eagles
^yeah they've gone downward steady and fast which is why I see them getting blown out. There's no doubt offensively they can hang with GB, but I see the coaching staff not adjusting and I see GB using the same gameplan Chi/NY/Minn did. Like I said earlier it would be great if we had coaches who could make changes but these knuckleheads will stick with their 40 yard passing plays while Clay Matthews tee's off on Vick.
Joe Webb fined $5000 for a facemask during the game. Ha.
It's all well & good to suggest they should have changed the plan, but on defense they just don't have the players to do so. On offense they should have rammed the ball down their throats but we all know that's a farging pipedream.
Running the ball=scoring less. The only reason our running game looks good on paper is because we pass so much. Our offensive line is awful, I'd rather at least go down slinging.
it not about running it 25-30 times. its about running the ball when you should. the way the vikes were coming at vick the draw would've been an almost guaranteed 6points.

Ignore.
Listen, you can cry all you want about running the ball and think that makes you smart because that's what the oldheads have always said, but you win by passing in the nfl. Our offensive line can't run block or pass block, but at least we have the biggest athletic freak in the history of the QB position who can maybe negate some of that.
I'm confused by the constant 5 and 7 step drop backs with almost no screens or hot routes, but passing the ball is definitely the way to go.
you win by keeping the opposing defense off balance and guessing. both young and old know that.
Luckily you don't nearly defend all pass plays the same way, so we're still good there.

the running game was getting blown up by the blitzes as much as the passing game...you just dont notice it like you do when a qb gets acked or is running for his life...for whatever reason they have gotten away from running screens...part of the problem is vick is not a good screen qb...he doesnt sell it at all and he throws the ball to quick and hard which deosnt let them develop like they should....but they still needed to attempt them against the vikings...if you dont wanna do it to shady then how about some bubble screens to pimp or mack and let them get in the open areas that were being vacated by blitzing corners and lb's all game...they also should have been releasing the te on a hot routes...let him read the blitz and coverage and have him sit in an open area vick drop three steps and hit him
in the end running it wasnt gonna work against what minnesota was doing...they needed to adjust the passing attack by shortening it....something they refused to do...i think because of the giant comeback and an inferior opponent they had blind faith in the offense which ended up getting them killed jonestown style
