I'll never tire of that photo. That the guy on the receiving end also looks like Norm from Cheers allows me to hate Boston a little bit more when I see it, too.

Anyone else?

Hard to say, I want to think they win, but can't. They are to inconsistant, the D suspect, if anything they are do for one of those crap games like the vs the Raiders.
Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II
Post by: Eagaholic on December 09, 2009, 06:15:37 PM
I think the Eagles can (and will) win. The Giants are even more inconsistent, with a more suspect D, and the Giants are overdue for a loss since they won last week.
Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II
Post by: Munson on December 09, 2009, 06:37:44 PM
As long as Reid keeps using McCoy/Weaver and eventually Westbrook in the running game, they can keep winning.

I don't know how much faith I have in it sticking though.
Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II
Post by: Sgt PSN on December 09, 2009, 08:05:13 PM
they most certainly can win this game but i can't say that i have any warm fuzzy feelings inside of me that says they will.  of course, the giants are so inconsistent that i don't have any doom and gloom feelings either.  should be a good game though.

 :-D You girls are funny,
Jackson is back
McNabb throws the long bomb all day to the kids
Defense squashes paytons little bus brother

42 - 7

Thats right.

eagles have beaten one team all year with a winning record...of course that team was the giants...but its time for the eagles to receive a reality check and on the road national tv against a tough division opponent is the perfect place for this to happen

the one wild card might be the weather....its supposed to rain/sleet/snow sunday night and eli in bad conditions (especially wind if thats the case) is bad news

That is one case where McNabb's usual avoidance of INTs would be a big plus.

the giants suck too much to 'beat down' the eagles.

The Giants always make me nervous. I thought last game was going to be close or a loss and they came out and laid a beatdown on the retard.

McNabb has a big game, I think.

good news: the eagles dont have letdowns in december....andy reid is 27-11 in the month....BUT...in years where the eagles entered december with a winning record they are an incredible 23-6 in the month

bad news: two of those december losses were to the 49ers
Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II

the Eagles are a terrible matchup for the Giants without Plaxico.  combine that with the fact that Eli can't throw in Giants stadium late in the year, i really don't see why the Eagles can't go in there and handle business.
Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II
Post by: reese125 on December 10, 2009, 09:08:47 AM
I really cant see how anyone can think this team can go anywhere and just handle business. Unlike previous years, this is a team still without an identity.

Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II
Post by: PhillyGirl on December 10, 2009, 11:02:36 AM
The Giants can't cover anyone. Jackson is back and the Eagles have an offensive line who has been better the last few weeks. Too much offensive firepower for the Giants to stop them.

Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II
Post by: rjs246 on December 10, 2009, 11:29:25 AM
I have no faith in the Eagles' ability to win this game. They should win because I think they match up well with the Giants, but if McNabb goes on one of his 1 for 10 streaks and they string together 4 or 5 three and outs as they're capable of doing the Giants could run away with this one. This is a team that lost to the farging Raiders after all. They are capable of anything.

Jacobs looks like he's ready to play football again. This game will probably need to go like just about every other Eagles victory - score early, preferrably 30 in the first half, and see if they can hold on to the win by putting up a couple of field goals in the second half
Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II
Post by: JackStraw on December 10, 2009, 01:08:26 PM
Osi still demoted? They seem to have momentum building and they will be tough.. If Andy goes pass-happy, McNabb has a slow start Gints establish the run and gash with TE Boss, a long night and good night.

Run Weaver, long(er) drives interspersed with field-stretching plays here or there, and get maybe a ST/INT jump on them, a win.

I want to believe the latter, but have seen the former all too much. Only upside is December. You know they lay at least one egg in the run, but is it Sunday? I don't think so and Eagles win 34-24. (Any stats on results the week after a big fat coaching extension?)

interesting, but i will be there with the only person in the world that i know who talks more shtein and loves to argue more then i do.. and he's a niners fan.  i think they keep the trend up with the losses to the niners in dec.  it would just be appropriate.

Washington last year says what up...

I'm torn on the game because the Eagles have owned the Giants late in the season for years now... even moreso in the Meadowlands.  Close games, blowouts, when the Giants were the better team, when the Eagles were the better team. So there's reason to think they've got a good shot this weekend.  But I'm not overly confident about it because the Eagles have a real shot to knock the Giants out of the NFC East/playoff race with a win... and we all know how good they are at shteinting opportunities like those away.

I was at the one when it was freezing cold I don't remember what year that was.  I remember it was so farging windy that one time Akers kicked the ball and it just stopped in the middle of the air.  Pinkston also fumbled it out of the endzone.

Rushing wise Jacobs is averaging less than 3.3 yards per carry through the last three games. Seems like the Eagles always give up 5 a clip though

trying to think....was that game in the vet or the linc?  if it was in the linc then i don't think it was the first time they wore black because i went to the giants game that year sometime around week 10 and they wore black for that one.  that was the game where dawkins returned after a foot/ankle injury and did little combat rolls coming out of the tunnel.  remember....it was the injury that was going to end his career.

For people who are interested in that kind of stuff, Football Outsiders has the Eagles ranked overall #2 in the NFL, and I think the D is also ranked #2 in DVOA.
Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II
Post by: Sgt PSN on December 11, 2009, 03:38:16 PM
lol.....the eagles are absolutely not the #2 team in the nfl.  way too many holes and inconsistancies for them to ranked at the top of the league.  andy reid.  linebackers.  o-line.  de not named trent cole.  safety.  rb depth.  inaccurate qb.  no team is without it's holes or weaknesses but the eagles simply have too many ? in too many vital areas.

i'd probably rank them somewhere around 11-13 but i suppose an argument could be made to put them around 8-10 because there is room for debate outside of the top 5.

I've got McNabb and Celek going in fantasy. If the fat farg wants to air it out all night, the fan in me will cut him some slack as long as it's working.

I've got McNabb, Celek, McCoy, Steve Smith, and Akers...

The wet turf bothers me for the big plays down field.

Keep that loud mouth, do nothing bit Jacobs with his shoulders turned and go sideline to sideline and not let him go straight ahead.

Two penalties on Mikell - pull your head out of your ass, dickhead.

Asante tries to jump it, knowing he has safety help, and they both whiff on the tackle.

Goddamn, shtein ass series!

10 yards hardly matters to this offense. They're either going to score from wherever, or punt.

These ref's are horrendous. No bullshtein.

Missed false start by Diehl on the play before Bradshaw ran it in.

Missed assault and battery on Celek in the end zone

farged up call on the "forward fumble" (arm was going forward anyways)

Down by contact with :02 left cost a FG attempt

No holding calls

Am I missing anything?

he would've dropped it if it hit him in the hands anyway.

isn't that why he's on the bench? he doesn't have break away speed and his hands suck.

Because that play was to Reggie Brown who can't catch worth a lick anyway and it's 3rd and 4. Call a play to get the first down, stop going for the home run on 3rd and manageable.

I'm glad the defense still can't tackle.

lol no, you just got owned because you have no idea what attacking the seams means and now you're embarrassed. The safety's are backed up deep and playing half coverage...I'm gonna assume you know what that means and realize it opens up the deep middle of the field.

Go take a bottle of Tylonal PMs and chase it with some drain-o you fargtard.

40 degrees is not cold weather for football.

Not for them big boys.

But for the asante samuels who get hurt trying to tackle as it is, 40 degrees makes their wittle fingers hurt when they get their hands hit.

yeah because assante is an excellent tackler in warm weather

second time this game manningham didnt know how to use his feet

That was a tough catch to make.

not really...at least not for a good nfl receiver...its a simple foot drag rather than trying to tip toe

Chris Collinsworth agrees with you.

funny part is, the ref had no idea what to call it, he looked around for support and then just raised his hands.

Exactly my thought, he was really indecisive, had to think of which city he was in

flozell didnt throw a punch...so im not even sure why you would bring that up

tommie harris threw a punch 100 times worse than what killa did just this year and didnt get suspended...do you even watch football?

i told you earlier in the year what a seam route was...so i think you might remember what it is but saying the safties are playing deep then also say the eagles should run deep seem routes is what was hilarious...
again you try to hard to fit in with adults...learn first from the people here that know shtein then try it out on your friends or the moose lodge people...dont comne on here and embarrass yourself to where everyone ridicules you to death...its not a good look
Title: Re: Eagles/Giants Part II

Because Adams didn't throw a punch and there were still people calling for him to get suspended and thought the fine wasn't enough.

lol you are such an idiot.

Yes deep seam routes...behind the LB's and between the deep safety's playing cover 2 half to compensate for Jackson burning them on the outside. That's what seem routes do...attack the deep 15+ yard middle of the field.

You're lack of knowledge about how to play the game is somehow shocking and expected at the same time.

They hung 85 points on them in two games this year....that's gotta be close to if not a club record against a divisional opponent.

Careful, the Cards were in that division for a while. I don't even know if this one is the record:

November 8, 1981 52-10 over the Cards
December 20, 1981 38-0 over the Cards
shtein, i was under a year old then

Looks like that is the record. Weird fact that I found while looking it up. The Eagles have scored 38+ points against the taterskins 11 times, but only once since the creation of the modern NFC East in the late 60s. The Eagles really beat the piss out of the Skins a lot during the Steve van Buren era, but they've generally been low-scoring affairs ever since.

The one modern game in which the Eagles scored 38+ on the Skins? A classic 5-TD comeback game from Randall. (http://sportsthenandnow.com/2009/10/23/classic-rewind-eagles-comeback-shocks-taterskins/)

So 90 is the record....85 has to be the most  they ever put up against the Giants in two games. Did they even put up 85 in 3 games last year?

this would be second biggest # of points for the eagles against a team in the post-1967 nfc east... last year against the cowboys was third.

in fact tonight's game was kind reminiscent of that game the eagles lost to dallas last year

Until he does it for a couple more years or until Larry Fitzgerald retires.

But after Fitz and A. Johnson, you gotta put Pimp at #3 at the least. Maybe over Johnson. He's #1 in terms of big play ability though no doubt.

but what i wanted was for the season to blow up and for reid to get canned or at least let next year be it. since that didnt happen and since he got the extension, you're right. might as well take what we can get and enjoy 1 or 2 extra games. especially since the vikes are beatable and sending favre back to dixieland will be jizzingly spectacular.

67
75
70

91

yet they got outgained by 150 yards and out timed of posession by 10 minutes

Poor tackling will do that. Especially when the safeties are the ones doing it too, because they are the last line of defense.

pretty farging impressive and makes the time of possesion all that more baffling

They definitely have been sustaining drives better. The play calls are good, the offensive line is blocking and everyone is getting involved in the offense. Even Reggie Brown.

" Reid and Jackson celebrated one score by doing a little post-big-play chest bump in which Reid vaulted about .5 inches off the ground.

Even with his negative vertical, Reid covered Jerkson better than any Giants defender ever did. "

That's what happens when your defense and special teams score td's.  It basically took 2 possessions away from the offense. I believe the total tds and top disparity was in favor of the panthers in in week 1 as well.

Total yds and top becomes a little less relevant when the d/st finds the endzone.

The showboatin' doesn't piss me off at all. I'd get pissed when Dmac would smile after throwing a pick and I was actually glad he looked pissed after his pass to Celek was intercepted.
