Take the list of all past pro-bowlers and combine it with the list of all players who have had a 1000 yard season in their career and that is the (incomplete) list of players the Eagles will not be pursuing.

But my girlfriends co-workers best friends boyfriend has an uncle that listens to wip and said there's a 90% chance Boldin will be an Eagle

Based on this article, I think that the Eagles are going to get Boldin AND OchoCinco, but probably not Edwards. (http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=17686)
This is totally going to happen.
Can we add Gonzalez to this too?
Don Banks (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/04/22/snaps/1.html)
QuoteThe buzz about the Chiefs resuming their attempts to trade veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez has re-started, and it sounds as if the Eagles might have nosed ahead of the Falcons as the most likely trade partner. Philly is thought to be willing to give up a third-rounder for Gonzalez. But Kansas City is seeking at least a second-round pick for a player it considers a future Hall of Famer, and may not be willing to bear the brunt of any criticism that could come if it's perceived to have given away Gonzalez too cheaply.
Sweet - give the second for Gonzalez then the first and third for Boldin. Then the Eagles won't even have to draft at all
I have to believe that the Jaguars are going to make a strong play for Gonzalez.

Wouldnt mind that. They can use their third round pick to select another RB bust.
I think they would be the favorites in the NFC if they picked up Boldin and Gonzo.

So, "they" means the Cardinals?
Actually, I didnt personally say anything was gonna happen. I simply stated what a caller claimed on 950 - as far fetched as it may have seemed. God, you losers need to get a life.
I have a life. It consists of drinking delicious Miller Lite and getting baited into conversations about politics and the Eagles front office.

so they got their 2nd rounder after all, dang.
I figured he'd be going to the Jags, since they're taking everyone else for their trip to the retirement village.
I'm not sure I'd have given a 2nd rounder this year for him, but I would have strongly considered it. It all depends on whether they plan on using their picks to acquire someone like Boldin/Braylon.
They didn't want any of the Eagles abundance of 5th round picks? Shocking!

In order to get ahead of what the Falcons offered, I'd imagine it would have taken the Eagles 2nd this year, which I would have considered doing.
No way I would have given a 2nd for Gonzo this year. I don't even think next year. A third would be the highest I'd go. Too many good players come out of the second round. Our linebacker history notwithstanding.
yeah, players like Reggie Brown, Kevin Kolb, Winston Justice, Matt McCoy, LJ Smith, Todd Pinkston, Bobbie Williams, and Barry Gardner
we wouldn't want to give up the chance to pick somebody like those guys
2 Todd Pinkston Southern Mississippi
2 Bobby Williams Arkansas
2 Quinton Caver Arkansas
2 Barry Gardner Northwestern
2 Michael Lewis Colorado
2 Sheldon Brown South Carolina
2 L.J. Smith Rutgers
2 Reggie Brown Georgia
2 Matt McCoy San Diego State
2 Winston Justice USC
2 Kevin Kolb Houston
2 Victor Abiamiri Notre Dame
2 Trevor Laws Notre Dame
2 DeSean Jackson California
Since Reid's been here, that leaves 3 unknowns (Kolb--and that's being generous, Abiamiri, Laws), 5 colossal busts (Gardner, Caver, McCoy, Justice, Williams), 3 below average players (LJ, RBrown, Pinkston), 1 average player (M Lewis), 1 above average player (Brown) and 1 player who looks promising (Jackson).
Remind me why I should be more excited about the Eagles 2nd round pick this year than I would have been over another 2-3 years of Gonzalez?

exactly. and gonzo has not really shown any signs of slowing down. his numbers have remained incredibly consistant even though he hasn't had a steady qb for 3 or 4 years now.
Yeah... Gonzalez is labeled as one of those freak athletes like that of a TO, that should still put up solid numbers at his age

Yeah, really. I didn't get too excited about it. I just can't see the Cardinals trading that caliber of a player to a team they just beat by a touchdown in the NFC championship game. Why not trade to an AFC team like the Titans, Jets, or Ravens. I just don't see it.
Economics.
Lowering the price below market value will drive the price up.
Eagles may be in the mix at a 2nd rounder...but true value will be a lot more. This just adds more buyers into the mix.

Trade the 1st, 3rd, and a 5th, move up and get Moreno. Then take the 2nd round pick, a 5th, and a 4th in next years draft and get Boldin. It would be the greatest offseason in team history and they'd still have late picks to play with. Offense would be set for the next 5 years.
Or they could just trade all 10 picks for Ricky Williams.

I just finished my journey from TX a few hours ago and there was hardly any mention of Boldin being dealt on NFL Radio. Of course most of the talk centered around the draft. The trade that was most talked about was Edwards to the Giants and how the whole its dead was a smokescreen. I really can't imagine Boldin being dealt for anything less than a first.
I really cant see Boldin not getting an extension from the Cardinals

I disagree.
They were asking for a 2nd round pick to begin with. You can't seriously be going after a player like Boldin by giving them less than they were asking from the jump with a 3rd round pick. They already just decided to settle for a 2nd, and you expect them to jump at a 3rd? Then, by the time you're ready to commit a 2nd round pick, you can't expect them to wait until
next year's draft to cash in on it.
The Winston Justice thing is nothing more than an attempt to dump thier garbage off on the Cards disguised as "a player". The guy is going to be hard pressed to be wearing an Eagles uniform this fall and the Cards know that. I could see if we played the Giants that night on regional TV, but the entire nation saw Justice get schooled in all of its national primetime glory.
This offer is fair if they were trying to trade for an above average WR, not a stud like Boldin... and not while there are other teams after him as well. They knew damn well the Cards weren't going to take that offer. But now they can come back with "Well, we tried..." and expect the masses to gobble that shtein up.
Pretty sure that a 3rd this year and a 2nd next year is more than fair if all they wanted was a 2nd this year and "other considerations."
The thing that makes it unfair is asking them to pay Winston Justice more than $3.50.
Again, it's not fair if you want them to part with a player of Boldin's caliber. Don't get it twisted, they're still the ones with the upper hand. As unhappy as he may be, they still have Boldin under contract for the next 2 years... they don't have to do anything. They certainly don't have to trade him to a team that could very well be using Boldin to help kick their asses in the playoffs next year. They may settle for a 3rd in '09 and 2nd in '10 from a team like the Titans or Ravens because they won't have to deal with him. They're not gonna settle for that from the Eagles... you have to give them some incentive to jump. A lesser pick than the one they're asking for off the top ain't gonna do that.
If you're the Eagles and you really want him, you have to do better than "fair" in the eyes of the Cards. At the very least flip your offer to a 2nd in '09 and a 3rd in '10 and then you might actually be able to pass off a waste like Justice.
I'm not saying it should be all they offer, but to say it's an unfair lowball offer is untrue.
I say it was "lowball offer" because it couldn't realistically get them to part with Boldin. In this situation, you've got to give something to get something and I don't believe the Eagles are really looking to do that here. It seems to me that they're still throwing out little niblets hoping the Cards will jump at it. Boldin is there for the taking, and you've got make a hard run for him or don't make a run at all.
But hey, I'm still holding out some sort of irrational hope that it was just an opening offer in a negotiation to eventually land him... so, you never know.
PS - We've got similar avatars. Heh, heh.. that's cute. :CF BFF?

Nuffin. It's wurf nuffin.
So about Rosenhaus' prediction that Boldin would be traded before the end of the first round...good call, Drewcifer.
somethings up if Boldin if nobody offered jack for him. Possibly that hip condition issue vaguely mentioned before.
They mentioned that the Titans left 7 unreturned calls on Saturday about him, which really helps with the "Cardinals are dicking everyone around" theory.
still hope?

QuoteWide receiver Anquan Boldin and defensive tackle Darnell Dockett showed up for the Arizona Cardinals minicamp but begged off of workouts because of "injuries."
Both players are upset with their contract status and coach Ken Whisenhunt told reporters that everyone knows what is really going on with their absence.

I'm going to make up a hypothetical trade situation in my head, then pound my keyboard in impotent rage when the Eagles don't give up their next 3 years 5th rd picks for Boldin. Hopefully others will see my trade fiction, quote it as truth and then use it as an argument in other threads. grrrrrr.....grrrrrr
did you guys forget what thread youre posting in
lol
