QuoteEx-NFL player facing rape charge in SC
Wednesday, January 14 | 5:52 a.m.
The Associated Press
Former New England Patriots running back David Meggett faces another rape charge in South Carolina.
Authorities say Meggett was arrested Tuesday and charged with raping a 21-year-old woman in her North Charleston home.
Meggett was free on bail for charges of raping a 17-year-old in September in North Charleston. He was serving probation for a 2006 sexual battery charge in North Carolina.
The 42-year-old was being held Wednesday in the Charleston County jail on charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and first-degree burglary. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
Meggett lives in Summerville. The running back played 10 seasons in the NFL with the Patriots, New York Jets and New York Giants.

With his football career already in shambles due to a bad knee, receiver Terry Glenn likely has seen any chance of playing pro football disappear, due to a recent arrest on multiple charges.
Glenn was arrested last week on charges of public intoxication and marijuana possession (it's not known whether he had a "turkey bag" at the time).
The incident arose after police were called to an Irving, Texas hotel, apparently after receiving reports that Glenn had been roaming the halls of the establishment naked.
We hope Joe Cullen has a good alibi.
It's Glenn's third arrest. In 2005 (and we're not sure how we missed this one), Glenn was popped for public intoxication after officers caught him urinating behind the dumpster at a fast-food restaurant.
After being released by the Cowboys before training camp, Glenn was out of football in 2008.

QuoteSENSABAUGH ARRESTED WITH THREE GUNS IN HIS CAR
Posted by Mike Florio on February 17, 2009, 4:37 p.m.
Jaguars safety Gerald Sensabaugh will become an unrestricted free agent on February, February 27.
On Friday, February 13, his luck turned bad — for the third straight year.
Sensabaugh was arrested in his hometown of Kingsport, Tennessee for driving his Bentley on a suspended license.
His initial arrest in the NFL came nearly two years ago in Kingsport. At that time, Sensabaugh was busted for speeding and carrying a firearm without a permit.
But maybe his luck was actually pretty good on Friday the 13th. This time around, Sensabaugh also had a gun in the car. Actually, he had three of them — a Bersa .380-cal. pistol, an AK-47, and a Glock .22-cal. handgun.
And. for reasons neither known nor apparent, he faces no weapons charges.
Last year, Sensabaugh was arrested in Kingsport for reckless driving after being found doing wheelies on a motorcycle.
So while Sensabaugh has been arrested so often in Kingsport that they're about to name the back seat of a cruiser after him, the fact that he's done no time suggests that someone there likes him.
A lot.
I never knew Glock made a .22.

QuoteANOTHER ARREST FOR MATT JONES
Posted by Mike Florio on March 9, 2009, 7:43 p.m.
Just as the "Days without an Arrest Meters" was hours away from getting back to double digits, Jaguars receiver Matt Jones has been arrested, again.
A reader has forwarded to us this link to the Washington County, Arkansas Sheriff's office, which shows that a man named Matt Jones, a 25-year-old white male with brown hair and blue who stands six feet and five inches from the ground and weighs 205 pounds and having an address in Jacksonville, Florida, was arrested at 6:21 p.m. CDT for possession of a controlled substance.
Jones is listed on the Jags' official web site as 6-6 and 216 pounds. He's also 25.
We suppose there's a chance that it's not the same Matt Jones as the one from Arkansas who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars, especially since a mug shot as of this posting has not yet been posted with the arrest information.
If it is Jones, he could be in big trouble with the NFL, and the law. Last year, he was arrested for felony cocaine possession, but agreed to enter a diversion program, which among other things requires him to stay out of trouble.
He also was suspended three games by the NFL.
So if the Matt Jones from Arkansas who plays for the Jags is the same Matt Jones of identical age and similar dimensions and Jacksonville address who was arrested within the past half hours in Arkansas, he's got a big problem.
UPDATE: The mugshot is now posted. Yep, it's him.
SECOND UPDATE: Jones also apparently is charged with violating the terms of his probation.

QuoteSTALLWORTH DETAINED IN PEDESTRIAN FATALITY
Posted by Mike Florio on March 14, 2009, 12:22 p.m.
Friday was a good day for Browns receiver Donte' Stallworth. As of 4:00 p.m. EDT, he officially earned a $4.875 million roster bonus.
But Saturday is turning out to be a very bad day for the one-time first-round pick. According to CBS4 in Miami, Stallworth has been detained after an automobile accident that killed a pedestrian.
Per the report, the accident happened at the intersection of Fisher Island Drive and the MacCarthur Causeway in Miami.
We've separately been advised that police are investigating whether Stallworth was driving under the influence. According to a source with knowledge of the investigation, authorities performed a mandatory blood draw on Stallworth, and they are awaiting the results of the test.
We're also told that prosecutors are involved, and charges could be filed very soon.
Stallworth, per the source, was driving a Bentley. As our own Aaron Wilson discovered while chasing the tip we'd received (yeah, we were responsible and tried to confirm before posting . . . for a change), Stallworth was arrested in 2006 while driving a Bentley.
Man, if I were Stallworth and I was driving, I'd start thinking about keeping away from Bentleys
farg that. Hire a driver.
I bet the Browns are sick and tired of dealing with Bentleys.
Maybe his Bently has MRSA

QuoteREPORT: STALLWORTH'S BAC WAS 0.12 PERCENT
Posted by Mike Florio on March 19, 2009, 4:43 p.m.
Things aren't looking good for Browns receiver Donte' Stallworth.
According to the Miami Herald, Stallworth's blood-alcohol concentration was 0.12 percent after the incident that claimed the life of Mario Reyes.
A source with knowledge of the investigation tells us that Stallworth's blood was taken twice — once after the accident and again an hour later. It's not known whether the 0.12 percent result arises from the earlier test or the later one.
We previously have reported that prosecutors are ready to file DUI manslaughter charges against Stallworth, pending the results of the blood test.
A source with knowledge of the investigation told us on Saturday that Stallworth admitted to drinking at least four Patrons and two Margaritas. Another source said Stallworth claimed that he had his last drink at midnight.
The collision occurred after 7:00 a.m. local time

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4262751
that sentence tells me his only fault must have been that he was drunk
and driving. and running over people.
it's pretty simple though. he owned it from the minute it happened. he didn't run. he called the cops and he cooperated with them fully and he settled with the victim's family.
da's and prosecuters don't get evaluated so much on sentences as much as they do on convictions. so whether stallworth serves 15 days or 15 years is nearly irrelevant as long as he's convicted which is why they are almost always willing to plea bargin, even in a case like this where the evidence was there and stallworth admitted his guilt and they still accepted a plea bargin from him.
what im saying is the guy was randomly running across a busy highway/road and it sounds like the police and court deemed that he was as much at fault for getting hit as stallworth was for hitting him...in other words dook would have or easily could have gotten rolled even if the driver wasnt drunk
in other words stallworth got punished for drinking and driving basically not for killing someone
got it. yeah, dude was jaywalking. the only real punishment stallworth is getting out of it is a lifetime suspension of his driver's license. but he can eventually apply to have it reenstated with restrictions to allow him to drive to and from work.
he's an idiot for driving drunk but i'll give the guy some credit for showing a little integrity and doing the right thing. most people don't even stop their car in that situation.
It will be interesting to see what the league does with his house arrest, I'm not sure if others have played under that circumstance. It should bring up questions about traveling with the team and (presumably) the ankle bracelet with the TO rule (no foreign objects permitted on the field, which is a good rule because it prevented Plaxico from playing with a gun in his jock strap).
QuoteBILLINGS, Mont. -- A federal judge Wednesday sentenced former NFL player Travis Henry to three years in prison for financing a drug trafficking operation that moved cocaine between Colorado and Montana.

He pleaded guilty in April to a single count of trafficking cocaine. In handing down Wednesday's sentence, U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull in Billings also gave Henry five years of probation upon his release and recommended he enter a 500-hour drug treatment program.
Henry has said that at the time of his arrest, he was struggling to keep up with child support payments after fathering at least nine children with nine women. But Cebull said it was Henry's addiction to marijuana that destroyed the defendant's career and ultimately landed him in federal court.
"This is a unique case in that you're a unique individual. You're a heck of a football player," Cebull said. "You are not unique in this sense: your drug habit."
Clad in a blue prison jumpsuit and wearing handcuffs, Henry apologized to the court and said his criminal actions did not reflect his true self.
"If given the chance, I want to tell kids around the world that using drugs and abusing drugs isn't way," he said.
He had faced a possible 10 years to life in prison and a $4 million fine. Cebull waived the fine because he said Henry could not afford it.
Henry rose from a childhood of poverty -- his single mother picked oranges for a living -- to become a record setting running back at the University of Tennessee.
He was drafted into the NFL in 2001 and joined the Broncos two years ago. His descent from the pinnacle of professional sports to federal inmate took just 13 months, beginning with his release last June from the Denver Broncos.
Just one season into a four-year, $22.5 million contract, Henry was cut following allegations of drug use and a perceived lack of commitment.
With his income gone, Henry turned to the drug trade in part to cover his mounting child support payments, according to court documents and testimony.
That criminal career proved brief.
A driver moving cocaine for Henry from Denver to Billings was arrested last September in Montana and quickly agreed to turn federal informant. That person later helped authorities set up a sting operation against Henry and his co-defendant, James Mack.
Two weeks later, as Henry was leaving a Denver-area apartment with 6 kilograms of cocaine, the authorities moved in. Henry attempted to run, but was chased down and caught after a short pursuit.
In court briefs filed prior to his sentencing, Henry's defense attorneys asked for leniency for their client and argued that he turned to drug trafficking only out of desperation. They say he went into a "downward spiral" after losing $40,000 in drug proceeds that were stolen from a house in Billings.
Following his arrest, Henry initially was released on $400,000 bond. He was jailed after being arrested again in Florida in May, for violating the terms of his release by drinking alcohol.
Sentencing for his co-defendant -- Mack, 29, of Bow Mar, Colo. -- is set for July 24 before Judge Cebull.

Oh that's fair.
i don't really understand why people get so bent out of shape when a sports league (nfl, mlb, nba, etc) takes further disciplinary action against a player after they have paid their "legal dues." whether it's vick or stallworth or whoever. i don't get why people don't seem to understand that the nfl is not obligated at all to ever reinstate any player that is convicted of a felony. no business is obligated to hire a convicted felon.
stallworth should (and seems like he does) consider himself lucky for only getting a year suspension from the league.
Considering Stallworth has never really done anything except get hurt, I think he is probably pretty done.

Only a few weeks after Mike Vick finished a federal prison term, his brother Marcus is going up the river. (Or it is down the river?)
The big difference is that Marcus Vick, who for a short time in 2006 played for the Dolphins, has been sentenced to only 20 days.
Marcus Vick was found to be in violation of his probation arising from a 2008 DUI conviction, per WAVY-TV. The court found that he failed to complete an alcohol education program, he tested positive for marijuana, he missed appointments, and he didn't pay court costs and fines.

Gun laws should be even stricter than they are in NY. You use a gun in the commission of a crime, you should be going away for 25 years minimum. That's exactly the kind of crime we should enforce with extreme malice. Gun criminals are far more dangerous to society than dope fiends, thieves, etc.
Law stating that law abiding citizens can't carry guns, like the one in new york city, are draconian. But you know that, gun-lover.

QuoteAnother day, another AFC West domestic violence arrest
Posted by Mike Florio on September 7, 2009 8:45 PM ET
On Sunday, Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested for battery and false imprisonment.
Broncos tight end Richard Quinn didn't learn from Merriman's example.
Quinn, a second-round pick in the 2009 draft, currently is behind bars as a result of a Monday domestic violence incident. Per Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, Quinn is being held without bail pending a Tuesday morning court appearance.
Quinn's girlfriend called 911 from a neighbor's house, and she told authorities that Quinn "grabbed and shook her to the ground," and that he took her cell phone to prevent her from calling police. He faces a concisely-worded charge of "harassment -- obstruction of phone services/domestic violence."
Quinn reportedly admitted to taking the phone, but he claims that he did so only because she "started hitting him in the face." And that excuse makes sense only if she started hitting him in the face . . . with her phone
Obstruction of phone services? I guess Verizon lobbied to get that law put in.

Jones spent seven years with the Vikings (1986-92) and one with the Chiefs (1993). He pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic battery in 1996, and he was charged with drunk driving in 2006.

QuoteWoman says Suggs hit her, spilled bleach on her

Last week a restraining order was issued against Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs. Today the Baltimore Sun has published the ugly details of that restraining order, in which a woman who says she's the mother of Suggs' children claims he hit her, knocked her down, and spilled bleach on her while threatening her with it.
The woman, Candace Williams, identifies herself as Suggs' fiancee and the mother of his two children, although Suggs told the Baltimore Sun he is not in a relationship with her.
Williams said Suggs threw a soap dispenser at her head, hit her in the chest with his hand, and held a bottle of bleach over her and her 1-year-old son. According to Williams, Suggs said he was going to "drown [her] with this bleach." She says she put her hands over the cap, but the bleach spilled onto her and her son.
Suggs has not been charged with a crime. He is not commenting publicly on the allegations.
Ravens vice president Kevin Byrne noted that Suggs "will have his chance to tell his side of the story."
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the NFL will "take a look at it as we would any such matter to try to understand the facts."

Santonio sued for assault, battery
Posted by Mike Florio on March 29, 2010 9:37 AM ET
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger isn't the only member of the Steelers currently facing challenges via the legal system.
Receiver Santonio Holmes, the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII, faces a civil lawsuit for assault and battery.
According to CourtHouseNew.com, the suit was filed on March 24, 2010 for an incident occurring only two weeks earlier in Orlando.
The civil complaint contends that Holmes confronted plaintiff Anshonoe Mills after she refused to leave the arm of a couch in the VIP area of the Rain nightclub. Holmes allegedly "put his hand" in Mills' face while attempting to remove her from the couch. Holmes then allegedly "threw his entire glass cup of liquor" at Mills' face, allegedly causing a laceration below her eyebrow and "blinding her temporarily."
She claims that, outside the club, she asked a police office to "reprimand" Holmes for his conduct. The complaint then alleges that "he" (it's unclear whether the pronoun refers to the officer or Holmes) "proceeded to inform the plaintiff that he was an NFL football player and that he could not face criminal charges." Mills also alleges that Holmes then "offered to give [her] money because he was a [sic] NFL star and could not get into trouble."
Mills claims that she "felt pressure from [Holmes] and the Orlando Police Department not to press chargers," and that while under said pressure he made "a short victim statement incoherently stating that she was hit in the face and bleeding near her eyes, however, intended not to press charges." She claims that the Orlando Police Department failed to write a police report.
Holmes faces claims of assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The owner of the club at which the incident occurred also faces a claim for negligent failure to provide adequate protection. (Hopefully, the security tapes haven't been covered up with new footage.) Mills seeks unspecified damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum of $15,000.
Stay tuned for more.

Brent Schrotenboer of the San Diego Union-Tribune has compiled a database involving arrests of NFL players since 2000 that were more serious than speeding tickets. Schrotenboer says on the database that the list should not be considered as the comprehensive record but it does help out in charting a couple statistics.
According to the Union-Tribune there have been 31 arrests involving Bengals since 2000. They are not the runaway leader though. Minnesota trails by one with 30 while Denver, Jacksonville and Kansas City are tied for third with 25.
In arrests since 2005, Cincinnati and Jacksonville are tied with 20. Tennessee has 19 and Minnesota and Denver are tied with 17.
In arrests since 2007, Jacksonville (15), Denver (12), Miami (12), Tampa Bay (10) and Atlanta (10) have more than the Bengals' nine. Pittsburgh also has nine while Cleveland has eight and Baltimore four.
Here is the list

Quote(CNN) -- Seven players from the Green Bay Packers were questioned as part of an investigation into the alleged sexual assaults of two women early Saturday at a Wisconsin resort, authorities said.
Six of the men were later released and are not considered suspects. A seventh man, who was not identified, was also questioned and released, and remains under investigation, according to Lake Delton police Chief Thomas Dorner.
Police in Lake Delton, about 50 miles north of Madison, were alerted to the alleged assaults after the two women placed a 911 call at 4:17 a.m. Saturday, a police statement said.
The women directed officers to a condo at the Wilderness Resort Golf Cabins where the alleged assaults occurred, the statement said.
Dorner said the women had been invited back to the rental condo by the seventh man after the women met the group of players earlier in the night at a local bar.
Seven men at the condo were asked to go to the police department for questioning. Six of the men -- all listed on the NFL team's current roster -- were later released and are not suspected of any criminal activity, the statement said. The seventh man was also released, but "his involvement in the incident is still under investigation."
The Packers released a statement Saturday saying "we are aware of the reported incident and still are gathering facts."
The men were staying at the resort after participating in a charity golf tournament on Friday, Dorner said.
Dorner described the incident as a "he said, she said situation," with the seventh player claiming it was a "consensual sexual act."
Dorner said police "weren't able to develop probable cause to make any arrests at this point" and will forward all information to the district attorney's office, who will then decide whether charges will be filed.
The incident comes less than two months after Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after being accused of raping a woman at a Milledgeville, Georgia, bar. Roethlisberger had faced the threat of criminal charges in the case, but prosecutors ultimately decided that they could not prove that a crime had been committed.
Week one might be a little easier
The 7th player still under investigation is Brandon Underwood, and the six cleared players are Matt Flynn, Khalil Jones, Josh Sitton, Korey Hall, Brad Jones and Clay Matthews Jr.

QuoteColts' John Gill arrested
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 8, 2010 3:56 PM ET
We often find that NFL player arrests decline during training camp, as players simply don't have time to get into off-field trouble.
But the Colts had a day off today, and defensive tackle John Gill was arrested for public intoxication.
WTHR reports that Gill was found by police on the side of a road in Indianapolis, passed out, barefoot and unable to stand on his own.
Police say Gill was wearing disheveled and soiled clothing when they found him in a ditch, officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol and his speech was slurred.
Colts spokesman Craig Kelley told the station, "We are aware there is an incident. We do not have details and will have no comment."
Gill played in two games for the Colts in 2009, his first NFL season.
Damn...helluva night, eh?
So they found him drunk, that's it?
imagine a rolley eye thing here
300 pound men should not be so drunk that they are shoeless, in a ditch and unable to stand. farging lightweight.
Andre the Giant could drink for twenty men.
It took him a fifth and a half of vodka just to catch a buzz.
The man truly had to work to get drunk.
To his credit, he never shied from hard work.

More details are coming in about former NFL linebacker Junior Seau's arrest and subsequent car crash this morning, as Seau is facing felony charges for the domestic violence incident but was not seriously hurt in the crash.
According to 10 News in San Diego, Oceanside police arrested Seau on a charge of felony spousal assault with injury. Seau was arrested around midnight, and the victim is described as his live-in girlfriend.
After he was released from custody, Seau drove his Cadillac Escalade off a cliff in Carlsbad. Sports by Brooks has a photo of Seau's Escalade being towed from the cliff. Seau was pulled out of the vehicle with only cuts and bruises and taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
Police have not disclosed whether they believe Seau's crash was accidental or intentional.

Yeah and he wasn't even up to .08 nor did he Stallworth or Little anybody...poor guy.
There is something seriously wrong with that story. He either did something that wasn't reported or the cops saw a black dude out late and just said "farg it, here's your DUI, even though you didn't blow .08". 12mph over and .065 gets you arrested? Give me a farging break.
Agreed, something fishy. Perhaps that's why the team has decided he'll play Sunday. Of course, maybe the fact he's their best WR has something to do with that decision as well.
I like how they gave him a piss test too because they apparently suspected him of being high, but at the same time the story said nothing about cops having a reason to suspect drug use....like the car smelling of weed or finding a roach in the ashtray or Matt Jones' credit cards in the back seat.
He was young and black and apparently had 1 1/2 drinks. Obviously on drugs too!

Sergio Kindle, DUI.
QuoteThe arrest is not Kindle's first. Kindle was arrested in connection with driving-while-intoxicated in college and suspended for three games in 2007. In 2009, he crashed his car into an apartment building and left the scene, an accident his attorney at the time said was a result of text messaging while driving.
Plus, there's his alleged narcolepsy, which was supposedly to blame for the skull breaking fall down a flight of stairs he suffered just before training camp. That injury not only kept him out this year, but threatens to end his football career entirely (if his alcoholism doesn't do the favor for him first).
Ozzie doesn't hit them all out of the park.

taterskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth has been charged with simple assault for an alleged road rage incident with another motorist on the Fairfax County Parkway in Reston, Fairfax police said.
Haynesworth, 29, has not been arrested but is planning to turn himself in next week, Officer Shelley Broderick said.
Haynesworth did not return text and phone messages left by taterskins beat reporter Jason Reid. But Haynesworth's agent told Reid there was no assault and the allegations were "ridiculous."
A taterskins executive said the team was unaware of the incident or the charge. "This is the first I'm hearing about this," Tony Wyllie, taterskins senior vice president, told Reid. "At this time, we need to gather information."
Wyllie and team owner Daniel M. Snyder are at the Super Bowl in Dallas.
The episode occurred Wednesday morning, and involved a 38-year-old man driving a 1994 Honda Civic and another driver, allegedly Haynesworth, both driving south on the Fairfax County Parkway, Broderick said. The driver of the Civic reportedly felt that a pickup truck following behind him was tailgating, and issued a "non-verbal hand gesture" to the pickup driver, Broderick said.
About 9:16 a.m., at the intersection with New Dominion Parkway, near the entrance to Reston Hospital Center, the two vehicles came to a stoplight. Broderick said the driver of the pickup truck emerged from his vehicle, had a brief exchange of words, and then struck the Civic driver.
She declined to be more specific about the circumstances of the assault.
The pickup driver then returned to his truck and drove away. Broderick said the Civic driver told police he thought his assailant might be the troubled taterskins player, who was suspended by the team for the final four games of the season for insubordination. Police investigated.
Broderick said she could not reveal what information the Civic driver provided about the assailant or his vehicle. Fairfax Chief Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Ian M. Rodway said an officer assigned to the incident compiled a photo lineup and showed it to the man, who identified Haynesworth as his assailant.
Police could not obtain a misdemeanor warrant because an officer did not witness the incident. So on Thursday night, the Civic driver and the Fairfax officer went to a magistrate and obtained a warrant for simple assault, with the driver as the complainant. The warrant was not immediately available, and typically is not made public until the warrant is served, so the driver's name was not public record.
Broderick said police had been in contact with Haynesworth's lawyer, that Haynesworth was out of town and was making arrangements to surrender next week. Rodway said the charge was the equivalent of a traffic ticket, and that Haynesworth must merely sign a summons acknowledging he has received the charge, a court date will be set and he will not be booked into the county jail.
Simple assault in Virginia is a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in a county jail and a $2,500 fine, though a maximum sentence is rarely imposed for altercations such as this unless the defendant has a lengthy prior record.

Johnny Jolly = certified dumbfarg
Quoterouble brews for Houston native Johnny Jolly once again. The defensive end, who was suspended from the Green Bay Packers for felony drug charges in 2008, was arrested in Houston early Friday morning.
Houston police stopped Jolly's Escalade for a traffic violation at 12:45 a.m. on the 9900 block of Westpark. Jolly presented a state identification card rather than a driver's license, and police learned that his license is suspended and is not eligible for renewal.
While searching the vehicle, police discovered that Jolly was in possession of 600 grams of Codeine, which is a felony charge. Police also discovered another unidentified substance, which has been sent in for testing.
At this time, it is unknown if the amount of controlled substances found in Jolly's vehicle could be heavy enough to be considered for charges of possession with intent to distribute.
Jolly, a three-time all-district defensive lineman at Forest Brook High School in Houston, attended Texas A&M and became a starting defensive tackle. The Packers selected Jolly in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft

I'm surprised there's been no mention of the mother/son crime duo of Aqib Talib and his momma.
QuoteBucs cornerback Aqib Talib isn't going to go down to a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge without a fight.
Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times reports Talib is preparing a "vigorous defense" by hiring a top-notch sports attorney who has represented Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa and Andy Pettitte. He has also hired a Dallas criminal attorney and a private investigator.
The key to the defense: Talib is "privately adamant" he didn't fire any gunshots. Talib has told friends that only his mother Okolo Talib fired shots at his sister's boyfriend Shannon Billings.
"I talked to Aqib two days ago," said Clint Bowen, Talib's defensive coordinator at Kansas. "I told him, 'I just read something about you firing a gun.' He said, 'Man, I didn't do a thing. It'll all come out soon.' He just kept saying that . . . He said, 'I didn't do that. That was my mom. It's all going to come out."'
This is some intense and sad Shakespeare-level family drama here. Or maybe The Wire. [Editor's note: Personally, I think it's a cross between The Beverly Hillbillies and Pulp Fiction.]
The investigation could come down to this: Will Talib's mom try to take the fall to keep her son out of jail?
Put it in the players arrested 2011 thread. This thread is about 2009, so if you post here it's old news, and of course no one cares.
