Just heard on WIP that Kearse and Hunt are inactive which means Westbrook is a go.
WHy make Hunt Inactive. farging andy
He needs to keep a roster spot open for the Scott Young and Nick Cole types.
My favorite episode of Family Guy is the one in your avatar, that scene is classic.
Eagles Inactives
DE Kearse, RB Hunt, S aschal, G Jean-Gilles, DT von Oelhoffen, G Young, DT Reagor
Dolphins Inactives
WR Reed, S Tillman, RB Gado, DB Perry, LB Thomas, DT Bryant, DE Ninkovich, DE Roth
Seriously, at this point I am starting to wonder if Tony Hunt is going to be Ryan Moats. Normally with a rookie RB, they aren't on the field much because of protection and ability to pick up a blitz. That was one of Hunt's strong points in college.
Reid treats rookies like a high school coach treats freshmen. It's bad enough that the fat cock picks lousy players in the draft. What's worse is he doesn't even allow them a chance to prove they suck.
Blow this farging team up. NOW.
anyone have the sopcast link? cant seem to find it anywhere.
What the farg are we actually paying von Oelhoeffen and Reagor for? Seriously, LaJuan Ramsey is one more flip out from a suspension, Reagor can't beat this guy on the field. Nice off-season, Kotite.
And you can't say that Hunt hasn't had a chance to prove himself. He got 1 carry last week, and didn't break it for a TD. Proof he sucks.
Hunt was not even "Big Ten" fast. He probably doesn't get to the hole quickly enough on the NFL level.
Oh well.

He's Buckhalter but much slower. I thought at best he was a 5th round pick.
He's probably a better blocker than Buckhalter, and his knees are healthier.
But still, if he can't be activated for this game.... B-U-S-T.

GO JESSE CHATMAN!
Great start for the offense
nice hold by LJ
A microcosm of the Eagles' season right there.
Unreal. McNabb looked great scrambling for 31 yards. Has all day to throw the ball and throws a pick.
No, the Eagles' defenders aren't undersized at all...
The hold on Cole on that pass to Ginn was far more flagrant than LJ's hold on the flea-flicker.
That was a farging embarrassment

The kiss of death was the 10 pt. favorite. Ted Ginn Jr. probably runs one back and Marty Booker dominates our corners. Jason Taylor forces at least one McNabb fumble.
1 for 3 so far
glad i stepped out of the room for a second to miss that. abortions for all.
1 of 3 td's so far for ginn.
he'll probably return a kick and maybe another punt against us for a td.

Reid would have Westbrook throwing before he's actually run the ball more.
That punt dang near hit an Eagles blocker.
Donovan's ankle getting X-rayed.

Is there anyone out there who still makes the argument that Donovan is not "injury-prone"? C'mon.
AJ's actually slower than one-legged McNabb. :-D
Andy's done it again. Pass, pass, pass, pass until his QB gets killed.

Interception.
LOL, they're gonna lose to the worst team in the NFL.
As soon as they flashed the stat of Feeley not throwing a pick in 134 attempts I knew how this drive would end.
4 scoring opportunities, 3 points.

any qb we have will be injury prone. unless reid changes his pass, run, pass, punt or pass, pass, pass, punt philosophy and his zesty wr core. plus his shteinting coaching. plus his shteinting special teams. plus his zesty drafting.
if we lose this game, we could very well not win another game the rest of the season. our souls will be crushed, then NE will put up 70 on us, then we'll just tank the rest of the season bc everyone will be fed up with andy's shtein and won't respond to him.
At least we beat the taterskins.
McNabb's X-rays are negative for a break. He has a sprained ankle.
Unbelievable.
EDIT: Luckily, the Dolphins were more zesty on that play than the Eagles.
Way to go Buck... hard run.
Nice, strong TD run by Buck. They still suck though.
Heck of a run by Buck.
It took the Eagles nearly 34 minutes to get a lead on the worst team in the NFL. Gold Standard indeed.
Also, LJ Smith blows. Had it not been for the Dolphins penalty, he would have single handedly cost the Eagles 2 scores. Not gonna miss him at all next year.
They're giving Ginn the Devin Hester treatment by kicking short.
Reid comes back with a human being game plan and they score. he ran the ball, and had 2 tights and threw when he had to. then he got a hardon for the pass again, went shot gun on 1st and 10 then...
look at the end man on the line.
Rich Gannon: "i don't know what lj smith is looking at, he has no sense of what's coming on his left shoulder, and it's a corner, coming off the edge" - causing aj to get slaughtered and fumble and mia recover, luckily some miami douchebag was offsides.

Gocong's been in on a few plays today. Overall, I'd say he's having a decent game but I've seen a few plays where he was caught out of position or seriously overran the play.
Westy just picked up 9 yards on a run that probably should have gained no more than 2 or 3. 132 yards rushing so far today.

Well, the camera angle for the kickoff didn't give a view of Akers but the kick was short again and this time he was kicking with the wind so it would apprear that you may be on to something. Then again, he did kick the ball right to Ginn.
*Edit* I forgot that the Eagles were backed up because of the penalty so Akers put some foot into that kick. And that means I'm right and you're wrong. :)

And now that Miami is inside the Eagles' 20, do you care a little more?
He took a needless penalty that put the Dolphins in a great position to close the lead. Moronic, and that's been his pattern today.
The Eagles have made 11 consecutive stops within the ten yard line.
Holy smoke what a bad offensive call by Miami on 4th down. Almost Reid-esque.
Nevertheless, monster stand on the goalline.
Nice stand by the defense. Eagles really caught a break too with a poor play call by the Dolphins because they get the ball on the 13 yard line instead of somewhere down near the goal line had it just been a run inside.
Career day for Brian Westbrook with 145 yards rushing.

I still can't help but think we lose this game if McNabb was still in and Reid would still be calling 15+ yard routes for his WR's and no pass pro.
I guess Mikell's injured? Reed was in the entire (?) 2nd half.
Good thing Dolphins didn't have Zach Thomas or Ronnie Brown. Probably would have lost this game. oh well, 11-5 here we come!
This might be the last win of the season. Only other games a W is a possibility is the Seahawks at the Linc, saints in the dome, or the Bills here.

Postgame stuff, copied from EMB:
Reid
-- McNabb has a sprained ankle, not a high one, x-rays negative
-- Mikell has an MCL sprain, MRI tomorrow
-- Herremans was a swollen knee bursar
-- Westbrook had a great day
-- Feeley did an OK job, managed the game well, ball was slick
-- McNabb wanted to go back in but he couldn't run. The coaches told Andy to keep him out.
-- Depends on swelling the next two days to determine if McNabb plays at New England
-- McNabb's awful day was not a determining factor in not bringing McNabb back in
-- "It was one of those days....probably a good day for selling hot dogs and hot chocolate"
-- Was not concerned about the number of touches Westbrook got
-- 2nd INT....wants to review it and get back to us tomorrow
-- Kearse was deactivated to give him a break since his knee has been acting up....you (media/fans) don't realize how serious that knee injury was
-- On .500..."it's a lot better than 4-6. I got that figured out." media laughs
Westbrook
-- knee feels good, no pain
-- team was concerned about McNabb but they always move forward when someone else comes in
-- Miami is a good team, has some good players
-- wished they ran more in the 1st half but got into a good rhythm in the 2nd half...OL and FB did great today
-- doesn't know why they had so much success running left
-- when asked why he becomes the main guy when McNabb goes down: "when McNabb is healthy, he's Superman .... Feeley is not Superman"
-- disappointed that the flea flicker was called back ... can't make mistakes like that
Feeley
-- thought he was in rhythm until the INT, then it occurred to him that it's rainy and windy, so they ran the ball instead ::)
-- "here in Philly, the backup doesn't get any reps with the 1s", so you basically make the best of it. Wished he got some reps with the 1s but that's Andy's call.
-- playbook is not scaled down because he's in there
-- conditions sucked for a deep passing game
-- knows his role, isn't worried about Kolb
-- coaching staff and all but 4 players are different from his time there, so he had no input on Miami's players
McNabb
-- ankle is sore but he'll be fine and will do everything to play next week
-- says there was no reason to go back into the game today
-- didn't think about staying in the locker room, wanted to support his team
-- said it hurt to stand and walk around on the sidelines
-- lots of miscues and communication issues in the 1st half
-- they didn't overlook Miami...just stupid mistakes at bad times
-- tried to throw a comeback to Brown on the first INT and miscommunication with Curtis on the 2nd INT...should have thrown it away
-- doesn't matter who you play, just go out and prepare
-- when asked why he played on a broken ankle 5 yrs ago but didn't see a reason to go back in today, says he didn't know it was broken 5 yrs ago and he couldn't run today either, so he wouldn't have helped the offense
-- also jammed his right thumb on a pass today
-- asked about New England....just prepare and try to win, just like every other game
CSN PGL discussing LJ...."what you saw today is a summary of his career.....one good play then disappears or does something stupid". They all seem to agree that he's out of here after this season because all he cares about is his contract. Didinger: "he's one of the most frustrating Eagles ever .... thinks he's elite but isn't"
look at all those comments about how zesty it was to pass the ball, yet when nabb was still in and running for his one legged life, reid still continued to cal pass plays. even after long runs (a 36 yarder) were successful.
reid is the most frustrating eagle to watch. he's the one that think's he's elite and he's not.

He'll still break 2000 from scrimmage though, that's good enough for me.
I'm changing my want from trading for Fitz to trading for Chad Johnson. Not only do I think Chad would be a better fit, but (someone said it) McNabb isn't talented in throwing the behind the shoulder fade route in the corner of the end zone. Something Fitz is great on.
Anywho, I think we'll be ok if we get Suggs (even J. Allen) / CJ / Asaunte Samuel + run the ball. that would make us unstoppable. But this organization is just too retarded to let that happen. At least Kearse was deactivated, that made me happy. What a pile he is.

i love the front offices spin on kearses knee....that we fans dont realize how bad the injury is...thats fine...but if that is indeed the case then why did you continue to start him thru the first ten weeks of the season
greg lewis should be cut for his pathetic effort on the ginn return....gocong got merked on the same play
mcnabb has never really been good at it but he currently is 100% incapable of throwing the ball to a spot...he has to be able to throw it directly into the wr or he isnt completing the pass...problem is the team has no wr's that can get open which makes for a lethal combination
It's gonna be just like last year, see? They'll get crushed by the future SB winner next week, McNabb will hurt his vadge, AJ will come in for the rest of the season, go 5-0. They'll make the playoffs, lose in the divisional round. Reid will keep his job, McNabb will get traded for 1 cent on the dollar, and the team will suck just as bad next year.
Of course I don't believe anything but the last sentence will happen, but I can see the headlines.

Yup. I woke up this morning just as pissed off that Reid only runs the ball when McNabb isn't playing.
Still hate him. :boom
QuotePhil Sheridan | McNabb questions still unanswered
By Phil Sheridan
Inquirer Columnist
It isn't going to be that easy.
The Donovan McNabb era flashed before your eyes as the Eagles' starting quarterback made the all-too-familiar trek to the X-ray room yesterday. McNabb's history - a broken ankle in Week 11 of the 2002 season, a serious groin injury in Week 10 in 2005, a blown knee in Week 11 last year - told you this was it. His season, and possibly his time in Philadelphia, had to be over.
That would have freed Andy Reid to do whatever he wants at the position. He could have gone with A.J. Feeley for a couple of weeks, then eased rookie Kevin Kolb into the lineup.
But no. McNabb returned from the X-ray room for the third quarter. His right ankle was sprained. His right thumb was injured, too - jammed on a first-half throw. The injuries were severe enough to prevent him from returning to this game but not likely to keep him out of action for the long term.
"If Donovan's healthy, he's the quarterback," Reid said after a plodding 17-7 victory over the winless Miami Dolphins.
That part is simple. The ramifications are not. McNabb did not play well in the roughly 20 minutes before blitzing cornerback Michael Lehan rolled up on his ankle. The offense had that same listlessness it has shown almost all season.
McNabb wasn't the sole cause. The pass protection was abysmal. The Eagles were confused by the blitz scheme of Dolphins defensive coordinator Dom Capers. Two of McNabb's first three passes were dropped. His best pass, a gorgeous touchdown throw to Reggie Brown on a flea-flicker, was negated by a holding penalty on L.J. Smith.
But McNabb did throw two bad interceptions, both to safety Jason Allen. He tried to force one ball to Brown. The other was a "miscommunication," he said, a deep throw where there were no Eagles.
When Feeley came in, there was more of the same. Pressure. Covered receivers. Another bad throw that was intercepted. Then came halftime and a chance for sanity to seep in.
After the game, Reid said the Eagles' run-oriented approach was "what we planned on doing." But the numbers say otherwise. McNabb was in the game for 21 offensive plays - 13 called passes and eight called runs. After Feeley came in, there were 21 called passes and 27 called runs.
McNabb: 62 percent pass plays.
Feeley: 44 percent pass plays.
We can linger on why Reid would pretend the play-calling didn't change because McNabb was out. But the more interesting and ultimately era-defining issue is why Reid and his staff stubbornly refuse to give McNabb the benefit of a more-balanced offensive approach. Year after year, regardless of McNabb's health or the quality of his receivers or the state of the offensive line, Reid makes No. 5 throw the ball a ridiculous number of times.
On a cold, windy, wet day against the 30th-ranked run defense in the NFL, McNabb was throwing 62 percent of the time.
When the coaches turned to Brian Westbrook, the Eagles moved the ball, took pressure off their quarterback, and seized control of the game.
It's hard to tell whether Reid's blind spot here is a kind of compliment - he just believes McNabb can and will do the impossible - or a sign he's hell-bent on getting McNabb maimed. There is ample evidence for both theories.
And you wonder where all this plays into McNabb's thinking. Five years ago, a younger McNabb played most of a game after breaking his ankle. This time, he took himself out.
"I know what I can and can't do," McNabb said. "There was no reason to go back out there. . . . I knew that I was done."
A few questions later: "I can't really run," he said. "I can't drop back. For me to go out and be a sitting duck, that takes away from what we want to do on the offensive side."
Just to make things even more frustrating, McNabb ran the ball with more quickness and elusiveness than we've seen since he hurt the knee a year ago. That reinforced the sense that he has been playing all season at some fraction of full strength. Now he will have to rehab a sprained ankle as he tries to prepare for the best team in the NFL.
"I am going to get right to get back out there and make sure I'm capable of doing what I can do," McNabb said. "We'll see how the week goes."
Here's how it will go: There will be debate over whether the Eagles are better off with Feeley or McNabb, then the Patriots will win and there will be more debate next week and the week after.
It could have been so easy, but no. With this team, it never is.

sounded like a setup to keep him.

Possibly, but he counts for how much actual salary if they keep him...? $8 million? Considering his lack of production, a $3-4 million savings to tear off the band aid and kick him to the curb is a small price to pay.
Kearse is gone. He's completely useless. Even when spelled a crazy amount, he's almost listless. The Birds will cut him. This makes me happy. What sucks is that they will use his few million in dead money as one of the excuses for why they don't bring any "big name" guys in.

hes 8.5 in actual salary next year....im not saying they wont cut him but banner really hates dead money almost to the point of it being an obsession...id be mildy surprised if they cut him next year but certainly not shocked

--game plan wont and doesnt change regardless of who the qb is
--donovan had no swelling in the locker room after the injury....thats why he came back out to the field
--says the eagles have been on the other end of this weeks game where they were considered the best team football
--field condition was not a factor in donovan not coming back in..."field is in fine condition"
not one single question re: the play calling when feely came in vs when donovan was in...weak
I hate that fat man.

the eagles have never been considered the best team in football, not under reid

it's a joke that a NFL team plays on that field
I was at the press conference. Didn't ask any questions. Andy is...yea.
Spadaro sits in his own table to the left of the reporters with his girly headphones over an eagles hat. Good thing he didn't ask any questions, the man is not a media member.
Eskin was off to the side talking to Butch when I walked in, then stood on the right side with the team employees during the press conference. Breaking news there.
Les Bowen is the bossman. Yup.
There was no food. iceholes.

he usually does ask questions, that's why it's such a joke, he is obviously not a media memeber
i wasnt allowed to ask questions since i wasnt writing anything. i wasnt even allowed to go the lockeroom. the eagles are real stingy on these things, and im just a silly little intern.

don't know if it was mentioned here earlier or not, but on sports final that big tall dude interviewed curtis on mcnabb's (2nd?) int and curtis said if he had pressure he was supposed to run the route differently, instead he flattened the route off and nabb threw a pick.

This proves Andy is a liar.
If this statement
were true, he would be even worse than a liar, he would be retarded. Adjusting a game plan to take advantage of the differing capabilities and strengths of different QBs is a no-brainer.

He's NEVEr game planned for McNabb. Ever. EVER.
And as a GM, he's never provided McNabb with the players he needs to win a SB. OR provided him with any consistency with WRs. Oh, unless their names were Thrash and Pinkston.

Bank on it.
They have tough games left, but look who they are one game back behind... the sucky Lions.
There are nowhere close to 12 good teams in the NFL this year, so you'll see some pretty zesty teams making the playoffs. I'm not saying the Eagles will make the playoffs, but the sad fact is that they are probably as good as some teams that will.
i think my favorite part of the game yesterday was when they game out in the shotgun from the 2 yard line, i literally got dizzy. the best part was, i told my cousin they were going to run a shovel pass before they came out of the huddle, the formation threw me off a little, obviously not the Dolphins though.
have another drink homeboy
you had to have seen it Dio...not picking out drapes for your panic room

IGY was right. Playoff talk in full bloom.

This.
What is dismaying is that the Eagles are "in the hunt" (in the taterskins sense of the term) so there is no reason in Lurie's mind to question the job that Reid is doing. He is going to have to tank, and tank bad before we ever get rid of him.

Yeah, I saw that too. They split Westbrook out wide to try to give a different look. As soon as I saw Westbrook come in motion towards the line, I said "shovel pass" and sure enough...
It's a nice play and all, but they use the shtein out of that shovel pass at the goal line and they need to use some damn imagination and come up with some other go-to plays or everyone's gonna sniff it out just like Miami did.
surely you jest. use another play? use another game plan?
remember in the saints playoff game when he called the play for tapeh out in the flats? and when questioned after the game about it he said "well it worked earlier in the season".
perfect example of reid. if it worked once he will keep going back to it even when the other teams know its coming. i remember a couple of times when ive heard the defenses call out "screen" at the line and the eagles still run a screen only to have it stuffed.
Well... in all fairness to Reid, when he hears one defender yell "screen", he figures, "Well... at least the other 10 don't know it's coming."
I just watched this game for the first time last night. What a piece of shtein.
I feel bad for the people who spent money to watch that in the rain. You should have just stayed in the parking lot and kept drinking.
Before McNabb went out it was like a dramatization of the problems with this team:
zesty special teams, and a psychotic fioxation on the pass, even though it was wet and windy and Mac was obviously off his game. The only thing that was missing was wasted time-outs.
Twice when Mac has gone down in his career the Eagles have had a better winning percentage than when he was in that season. The exception was when they had horrible qb'ing from McMahaon and Koy.
Do they not see the correlation between them changing the way that they play (more running with the teams greatest weapon) with more wins, even with a lower quality qb?
Do they think it is a coincindence? Are they unable to connect the dots?
Or are they just huge victims of Groupthink who cannot recognize any good ideas that come from the outside?
My girl said that this game reminded her of the 'Little League' South Park episode, where both teams are trying to lose so that they can stop playing.
i dont think mcnabb wants to play against new england....hes not the kind of guy that would have that lets go out and shock the world attitude but rather i dont want any part of this game
if he does play his in game sulking will be 100 fold bigger than 04 pittsburgh
hahah thats what i was waiting for...igy's inside knowledge on mnabb's feeling and psyche.
I wouldn't play in this game if I was him either. farg shocking the world. Why would I go up against a juggernaut with a bad knee, ankle and thumb when my coach is just going to farg up and do nothing more than get me steamrolled time after time after time.
I wouldn't blame McNabb at all for not playing, but not because of some supposed weak psyche... but because he has a head coach that either has no clue how or simply refuses to use him and his offense effectively.
It's suicide! You've seen the Patriots... you know how strong they are. THE EAGLES CAN'T WIN!!!
I can just feel the undertow of hope here. Even from the people shouting about there being no chance. There is no hope. Just cut it out.
From McNabb's blog:
QuoteHappy Thanksgiving! I hope all of the loyal readers of this blog have a wonderful day with their families. There should be plenty of food and plenty of good football on Thursday. I know a few of you have asked whether I will be ready to go when we get to New England to play the Patriots. All I can say at this point is I will do my best to rehab both my hand and ankle so that I can try and give it a go. I love to play this game and want nothing more than to be able to compete against the very best in the league. Hopefully, with hard work and a few prayers, if things go right I'll be in the starting lineup on Sunday night. I want to take this time to praise one of my current teammates. I've always said that Brian Westbrook is an extremely talented player and one of the most potent weapons in football. I'm thrilled that he is getting the recognition that he deserves. No doubt he has been our MVP. Speaking of MVPs, congratulations to Jimmy Rollins who won the National League honors today.
Go get 'em tough guy.
I don't think anyone here is hoping for a win. What most are hoping for is that the Eagles don't get thoroughly humiliated on national television again. Personally, I'm hoping for chronic injuries to several Patriots players, and no, that isn't hyperbole either. I seriously want to see motherfargers carried off on stretchers but considering we have the equivalent of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir playing and coaching for our team, I don't expect dirty play of any sort. Well, other than from the Patriots, that is.
So, to recap... I expect a blowout of epic proportions. I further expect limpdick excuses and vows of improvement from the Eagles afterward. What I'm sincerely hoping for, however, is Body Bag Game Part II.
the eagles have been embarrassed each time they have been on national tv so far this season and i do not expect any different result here.
usually even when they face the toughest opponent (like a few weeks back against dallas) i get hope near game time like maybe they will pull it off. not this time. i do not think anyone thinks they can win. ppl can hope, pray, and wish but thats different.
