keyshawn johnson just got released by Carolina I like him for a year or two. He is big and I think he could help teach our younger WR.
If we signed him I wouldn't complain and if we didn't I wouldn't complain either.
The only issue is he stops the development of Baskett.
People wanted him last year, too. Carolina liked him so much that despite drafting a big-bodied WR from USC, they didn't keep Keyshawn around to show him the ropes.
farg Keyshawn.
Pass.
On a related note, I remember last offseason people screaming for Eric Moulds. What the hell happened to him, he was released from the Texans, right?
And they loved him so much that they paid dude a $3M roster bonus only several weeks ago and then cut his ass.
Whats funny is he was on ESPN on Saturday talking about how he's got about 1-2 years left in CAR and how he's going to mentor Jarrett.
Beat it, Keyshawn.
I don't want him. He's trash.
I thought the same thing, but after looking up his stats... 70 catches for 800 yards isn't bad.
He has absolutely no speed, but he definitely is a threat on fade patterns in the red zone because of his size and experience to get in position. Also he is as sure-handed as anybody.
no way reid era would ever go with a receiver considered to be a loud mouth arrogant, selfish prick.
He's a grade a fleshpophead. Maybe he should go for a drive into a towtruck.
That's all the rage these days.
On ESPNEWS, they just replayed Keyshawn's speech at the draft when they drafted Jarrett.
The end the clip with Keyshawn's words, "... I'm gonna take care of you as long as I'm down there."
Then the anchor pops up and says, "Well that didn't last long." :-D
The thought of Keyshawn Johnson on an Andy Reid coached team makes me giggle a little.
I don't.
He's garbage. He's slow and useless and we already have enough players like that on this farging team.

I didn't know Keyshawn was your type.
ha... During Andy Reid's interview with ESPN on Sunday, he joked that he wanted Keyshawn to be on his team and everyone from ESPN started yelling "THAT'S TAMPERING!"
I'd be happy for the Eagles to have Keyshawn for a year or two.

same here.
I don't think they will do it i just think it would help for him to teach our young WR mainly Baskett
teaching them how to be an egomaniac deadset on putting themselves above the team?
Keyshawn isn't going to teach anybody shtein if you sign him to play. If they can sign him to replace Culley, fine.
Apparently Keyshawn wasn't paid that roster bonus....and here's why he was cut according to their beat writer Pat Yasinksas
QuoteWhy Panthers canned Keyshawn
Here's why Keyshawn Johnson is gone:
Although the receiver, who was followed by controversy in his previous stops, seemed to be a model citizen in his one season with the Panthers, there were some-behind the scenes issues.
Some very important people in the organization weren't happy when Johnson failed to stand up and take blame away from quarterback Jake Delhomme after some critical passes intended for Johnson were intercepted. At least one very important person in the organization urged Johnson to do that and he didn't.
Johnson also didn't endear himself to some key people by questioning some coaching moves. The Panthers are on the hook for $3.75 million in salary cap space because of remaining signing bonus prorations. They may designate Johnson as a June 1 cut and spread the cap hit over two years.
The decision to part ways with Johnson actually was made at least several weeks ago. When a rumor was circulating about this move last week, Panthers general manager Marty Hurney told The Observer that information was "not accurate.''
Apparently, the Panthers wanted to make sure their bases were covered before officially making the move, and the clincher came when they drafted USC's Dwayne Jarrett in the second round Saturday.
Ohmygod! Panthers people are babying Delhomme!! He's a whiner, Mommas boy and organizational golden boy! He's mentally weak. Cut him.
I hate that guy, but if you're a team that likes to throw on 3rd-and-1, he's a good fit....

He's a fleshpop, but I can't remember anyone ever saying the guy doesn't play hard all the time.

exactly and he has size which i like. i would feel more comfortable with him than baskett. i would feel even more comfortable if it was baskett, kewshawn, curtis, and brown.
big, inexperienced, and averagish all around - Baskett
big, old, and slow - Keyshawn
white - Curtis
sporadically brilliant - Brown
It sounds like a great top 4 - get Keyshawn immediately!
Seriously, all of you fargers couldn't be dumber if you had your frontal lobes removed. How many teams have to jettison Keyshawn Johnson before you realize his production is simply not worth the trouble, especially as he continues to age and slow down?
The top WR on this team last year had 46 catches last year. Forty. Six.
yeah but ONE guy had two 80 yard catches
Oh, then farg it. Screw you, Keyshawn!
The top quarterback on this team had 180 completions last year. One. Hundred. Eighty.
That's only like 11 completed passes a game!
Jon Kitna had 372. Three. Hundred. Seventy. Two. OMGGETKITNA!
Silly, we don't need Kitna. We've got Kolb now!
Exactly.
I think we should get Dietrich Jells back.
Kolb needs Keyshawn, though. Someone slow enough to not have the QB looking all over the place trying to find him as he adjusts to this fast-paced professional game. And while also running slow, he can catch. The perfect training wheels for your new franchise player.
I'm a genius.
if the eagles were closer to a superbowl i think keyshawn would be a good veteran to have...correct me if im wrong but does anyone on the eagle entire roster have a ring besides bethel johnson ...or if this was six years ago id take keyshawn
he would be of no value to the eagles now tho

he brings that edge and mental toughness that we lack for whenever mcnabb starts tearing up in the huddle about being booed.
QuoteKeyshawn Johnson might have to put his television career on hold. Word is there might be a pretty good market for him. The Eagles, Chargers, Giants and Titans are rumored to be among the teams that are at least thinking about pursuing Johnson.

meshawn and plexiglass? oh that's a match made in heaven.
He'll end up in San Diego...I hope.
San Diego seems like the best fit for him.

I guarantee the Eagles are listed just because of Reid's banter on Saturday.
i would hate to see him go to the giants. burress gives us enough problems with his height and he would be another tall target who can out leap our corners.
They would still have Eli at QB though.
And Keyshawn is not a down field threat like Burress. He's a chain-moving type and pretty much has been his whole career.
Yeah, but he can catch a jumpball which is about all Eli's throws.

I think that just goes to show how much pull Reid's got in the NFL.
Andy clamoring for Keyshawn on Saturday = Tampering.

This post makes no sense, really...
Eli at QB = need bigger targets for him to hit = Keyshawn a fit
Keyshawn not similar to Burress = good complement to Burress on the field
Right?
Nah, I was thinking about the clueless portion of Eagle fans who were clamoring for "a guy like Delhomme" to be the Eagles QB a couple of years ago. He was the flavor of the month to replace McNabb.
FF,
My point was Eli sucks and I don't like Keyshawn. I have always thought he was overrated because his YPC and TDs are low.
Reggie Brown has 8 career 40+ yard catches in two season; Keyshawn has 10 in 11 years. My point in typing that was Keyshawn is not going to be the guy who beats a guy deep all the time.
It may have been BS, but Keyshawn said numerous times on his NFL Radio show that Carolina was his last stop. He said he's getting too old to learn another system and doesn't want to adjust to a new coach.
Of course, now that the gravy train is off the tracks he might change his mind...
[edit: these comments were made toward the end of the season last year]

yeah but he wouldnt really be needed to go downfield for a team like the giants. i was picturing more like in the redzone/goaline fade patterns where he could burn teams with short corners.

shockey, plaxico and meshawn in the red zone? that's not a happy thought.
Don't worry, competition with his taller counterpart will surely light a fire under Sheldon Brown.

QuoteOne reason behind Keyshawn's cut
Down 27-24 with little more than a half-minute to play against the Eagles, Keyshawn Johnson ran one of his favorite routes, a fade to the right corner. But Lito Sheppard got in his way and Johnson cut his route short. Jake Delhomme's pass went about where it was supposed to, but Johnson did not. Sheppard picked off the pass to preserve the three-point victory. Delhomme took responsibility for the interception. Some teammates, as well as the gentlemen who employ them, waited for Johnson to acknowledge his role. But he would not say the fault was his. Rather than share the criticism from the media and fans, Keyshawn let Delhomme absorb all of it. The interception probably ended any opportunity Johnson had to remain a Panther
OMG IF THE EAGLEZ SINED HIM LITO WULDNT BE ABLE 2 DO THAT SO GET HIM NOW!7!&7!!

Michael Smith says the 4 interested teams are the Raiders, Packers, Titans and Seahawks
Michael Smith makes things up, but I hope he's telling the truth.
Please sign him Eagles. I hate him, but he would make this offense better.
What happened to calling him MeShawn? Is he not selfish anymore?
KingCole or not, I think the Eagles signing him is a good thing. Get a 1 or 2 year deal at no more than double the vet minimum.
Done, and done.
Michael Smith said he is hearing he could get a decent sized contract, which is why I think the Eagles will stay away.
The Eagles wouldn't sign an aging, big-mouthed WR for $3.50 right now.
