Title: Ongoing NASCAR/Auto Racing 2008 Thread
Post by: Rome on January 19, 2007, 02:51:57 PM
What better way to start off a new year than by posting a story about a woman and her stepson who have clearly had sex before and now regret it to the point where business is being fouled up because of it?

QuoteTeresa Earnhardt wants Junior at DEI

Associated Press
Posted: 3 hours ago

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Teresa Earnhardt is willing to discuss a larger role at Dale Earnhardt Inc. with stepson Dale Earnhardt Jr. as part of the ongoing contract negotiations to keep him at his late father's company.

"We are moving full speed ahead with negotiations, moving ahead as we normally would," Teresa Earnhardt said Thursday night in a telephone interview from Los Angeles, where she was promoting the documentary "Dale."

Asked if she was committed to keeping Junior behind the wheel of the No. 8 Chevrolet, she didn't waver. "Absolutely."

Junior's contract expires at the end of this season, and his status with the company has been in question since Teresa Earnhardt seemingly questioned his commitment in a December article in The Wall Street Journal.

"Right now the ball's in his court to decide on whether he wants to be a NASCAR driver or whether he wants to be a public personality," she said in the Dec. 14 story.

The remark angered Junior, who said at preseason testing last week that the two had not spoken since the quote was published because "I figured if anything needed to be said, she'd call me up and say it."

Teresa Earnhardt indicated the two have since spoken but seemed fuzzy on when the conversation occurred.

"I don't know, it has just been a short while ago," she said. "We talk."

Junior said last week his relationship with his stepmother would factor into his decision to re-sign with DEI, and he also hoped to get an ownership stake in the company. But he said Teresa had skipped the most recent round of negotiations, sending representatives to the bargaining table to meet with Junior and his sister, Kelley Earnhardt Elledge.

Teresa Earnhardt said Thursday there's been nothing unusual about these extension talks.

"It's all been very typical," she said. "We're moving forward, discussing everything and trying to get this done."

PS: Before anyone cries like a flag over me started another racing thread, I tried posting this in the old NASCAR thread but was warned that no one has posted there in over 120 days, so I should start a new thread.

Dale Earnhardt didn't even drive for DEI.  He drove for Richard Childress Racing.

There are a ton of rednecks at a race, but on the other hand you have a lot of regular people that are there as well.  Going to a race is very much like going to a college football game, accept you can usually bring booze in a cooler with you to the stands.

my money is on the majority of nascar fans not even knowing what hockey is...much less being a fan of it

i can see where nascar would advertise on hockey games...its a completely white audience so why not troll for new fans there...business wise thats smart...

but really would they even need to advertise during hockey games if both fansbases were the same people?

its all about competition there

sports advertise themselves to garner new fans ie new viewers...nascar doesnt need to advertise to their current fans they are trying to tap into pools of new fans and im sure they see the white hockey audience as a good place to start

I guess that I am an idiot then.

The thing is I was always one of those people that thought it was an idiot redneck sport too.  And it was actually idiot rednecks that got me to pay attention to it.  At my days at PCT those morons would sit there and talk about Chevy this and that; I found it to be quite hilarious and whenever a Ford won I would point and laugh.

Eventually after watching it a little bit just to make fun of those particular idiots I found myself becoming interested in it.  Then finally I went to a race and that is what really got me hooked.  I would think that anybody that ever went to a race would find it enjoyable on atmosphere alone.  Anybody who likes to drink and have a good time that is.

While NASCAR's roots are definately southern, it has far and away transcended that demographic years ago.  You always have idiots that make it look bad for everyone, much like Eagles fans.  Because of this you won't find very many minorities at a race, can't say I blame them.

Oh well, I don't know why I even bother.  I am just an ignorant, racist, neo-con....dipshtein.

That sucks so bad for Martin.  Almost 30 years in NASCAR and no Daytona 500 wins....then he's winning the last 60 laps or so....and loses by less than a quarter of a second.....

Martin has a real estate business in town and my brother-in-law used to date his step-daughter.  As a result, I've met him several times.  He's a true gentleman.

Too bad.

For someone who really doesn't care about Nascar you certainly post in this thread enough.  Mark Martin is truly a good guy and is too good to lick your sack. :P

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a popular dad
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is popular because of his dad
Dale Earnhardt Jr. hadn't won a race in two years because his stepmom's team sucked
Hendrick owns Jeff Gordon
Hendrick owns Jimmie Johnson
Gordon and Johnson have won a combined 6 championships and 4 Daytona 500s
Dale Earnhardt Jr. left his stepmom's team and joined Hendrick's team
Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the first (exhibition) race last night

And they all lived happily ever after.

lulz (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article3649197.ece):

QuoteMax Mosley, one of the most powerful men in world sport, was under pressure to resign as boss of Formula One's governing body last night after he was exposed enjoying a Nazi-style orgy with five prostitutes.

Jewish groups condemned the behaviour of Mosley, 67, whose father, Sir Oswald, was the leader of the British Union of Fascists and a friend of Adolf Hitler.

Mr Mosley was caught on video by the News of the World with five women in an underground "torture chamber" in Chelsea, where he spent several hours allegedly indulging in sado-masochistic sex.

The Oxford-educated former barrister, who is president of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), reenacted a concentration camp scene in which he played the role of both guard and inmate.

Speaking in German and brandishing a leather whip, he beat the women after allowing himself to be subjected to a humiliating inspection for lice and an interrogation in chains.

Mr Mosley, a close confidant of Bernie Ecclestone, who holds the commercial rights to Formula One, paid £2,500 cash for the sex services, the Sunday newspaper claimed.

lol at you bumping this thread, putting it at the top even though you don't want it here.

I don't understand, if you don't like a thread, why post in it? I think hockey is a sport rivaled only by pro wrestling, with refs that are stupid, neanderthal players who fight at most every disagreement. Not to mention it's about as exciting as watching paint dry, but I'm not trying to sabotage the thread. The way people generalize about NASCAR and all thier fans being rednecked racist is ignorant and idioitic. There is a gearhead thread, is drag racing the same way??

generalizing about nascar fans doesnt exist. there is not one person on earth who likes nascar and is not a inbread redneck hick. the two are synonymous with each other. its not even a question.
