Seattle vs, San Fran tonight...
QuoteThursday night's game between the Seahawks and 49ers is expected to be played under very windy conditions in Seattle.
Forecasts predict gusts over 70 miles per hour, which could mean a lot of carries for RBs Frank Gore and Shaun Alexander. "Wind changes a lot of stuff, if it's real, real windy," coach Mike Holmgren said. "Then it's a little more problematic when it comes to throwing the ball, or kicking it. That's the worst. That's worse than snow or rain."
Andy Reid sez "Throw the ball. They'll never see it coming."
I'm hoping Frank Gore puts up huge numbers. Papa needs a new pair of shoes.
Me too. I have him and Alexander starting in my $$ league.
Doesn't Seattle have a retractable roof?
The Mariners do but the Seaslugs don't.
40.5 O/U...I wasnt gonna bet because I got hammered last week, but those 70 mph winds makes me think the under is a good bet...
Thoughts?
I'd say that is a decent bet. Remember when SF and CHI played in that windy ass game in 2005? That was when Nathan Vasher took the missed FG 107 to the house.
The only thing to be wary of is that both Gore and Alexander can run it up. They mess around and get 5 TDs between them it could get a little dicey. SF's run defense is not good.
Games affecting the NFC playoffs this week; who do we root for?
San Francisco at Seattle
Dallas at Atlanta
N.Y. Jets at Minnesota
Pittsburgh at Carolina
Washington at New Orleans
Philadelphia at N.Y. Giants
St. Louis at Oakland
SF is 5-8, SEA is 8-5 -- root for the 49ers
DAL is 8-5, ATL is 7-6 -- do we want DAL to lose to help at maybe winning the NFCE or ATL for WC purposes?
NY is 7-6, MIN is 6-7 -- root for the Jets
PIT is 6-7, CAR is 6-7 -- root for the Steelers
WAS is 4-9, NO is 9-4 -- root for NO so we can point and laugh
STL is 5-8, OAK is 2-11 -- root for the Raiduhs
I thought the similar thing re: Gore and Alexander. Plus, I could definitely see an ill-advised INT being taken back for a TD, especially watching how Hasselbeck played against GB a few weeks back in the snow.
As far as the Dallas game, heres how I see it...
I'm rooting for Atlanta. Hard. Very, very hard. True, a lot has to do with the fact that I hate Dallas about as much as I do Osama, but it makes sense too...As long as we are a game back of Dallas or better, next weeks game becomes a first place matchup. Wildcard is fine and all, but if were gonna make the playoffs and ruin our chances at shuffling the coaching personel, I want the division. So, if Dallas loses, we could get by with losing on Sunday and still win the division. Plus, the ATL on New Years Eve game will become a must win either way - wether it be for the last WC spot or the division clincher.
Personally, I know the shot at winning the division is next to none, but Im pinning any playoff hopes on it. The WC is for nancies.

Sure. Why not.
It's not even a question. Unless they're playing the skins, you can't even consider wanting Dallas to win. Ever.
Yes, of course. AFC team.
Naturally. See above.
No. I want Washington to win, so NO doesn't stay on a roll. Plus, it will add hilarious hope to ES and we can point and laugh at them for that.
Who cares?

If the Eagles win and Cowboys lose this weekend, both will be 8-6 with Philly holding the temporary tie breaker until the 2 teams meet up the following week.
If San Fran beats Seattle and Philly beats the Giants and the Falcons beat the Cowboys, then Philly and the Seahawks would be tied for the #3 seed with Seattle holding the tie breaker.
I feel retarded for even thinking this, but it's still mathematically posssible for the Eagles to win the division and the #3 seed in the conference. And as cool as that would be, it's even more pathetic that it's a possibility.
San Francisco at Seattle - My personal hatred for the 49ers makes it damn near impossible to cheer for them.
Dallas at Atlanta - Go Falcons. Not even a question. Never is. Dallas has to die."
N.Y. Jets at Minnesota - Sure. Go Jets. More space between us and the Vikings can't hurt.
Pittsburgh at Carolina - AFC over NFC. Again... creates space.
Washington at New Orleans - I was a HUGE Saints fan last week. Almost as much this week.
Philadelphia at N.Y. Giants - Not sure about who I want in this one. Can't decide
St. Louis at Oakland - Just win, baby. Although I couldn't care less. The Rams won't catch us.
So with that wind, should I bench Deion Branch? My other option is Chris Henry. And yes, I'm a game away from the championship.

Doesn't matter. You'll be wrong either way.
Probably, yea.
taterskins/Saints and Steelers/Panthers are the 1PM games being shown in the Philly area on Sunday...
I wasn't planning on watching tonight's game, but if it's a freak weather game I have to check it out. I enjoy watching football being playing under the most extreme conditions possible. (Unless the conditions are farging over the Eagles. See: Fog Bowl.)
This game is being broadcast only on NFL network, right?
Hell... you don't have to go back that far. Just look back to the JAX game where AR's entire gameplan was farged up because of wind.

That's true, the team is one of the most susceptible to poor gametime conditions in the NFL. Any game with sustained winds perplexes Reid, and any game over 90 degrees on the field has DMac puking left and right.
7-3 Seattle at halftime. Ugly.
Branch is a dork.
I hope DH took the under.
The wind hasn't been that bad though. Gore has been nonexistant.
Julian Peterson is playing well tonight.
if only the Eagles would've had a chance to sign a playmaking OLB, hmmmmmm
For the love of God, throw it to Branch.
No, I need Hasselbeck to have no TDs.
SF leads 10-7. Of course they don't feed Gore inside the 10. And VD scores.
SF just stuff a 4th and 1.
Great play by Smith! TD throw to Gore after avoiding the sack.
Points for me. And SEA is going to lose...helps the Eagles.
Not really, that division is god awful they'll wind up winning anyway.
True.
Gore is going off now. 140+ rushing.

Nice fake :-D :-D :-D
24-7
Man that had to be embarrassing for Seattle. Got totally taken in by that naked bootleg.
Branch just got JACKED UP
personal foul too
24-14 final
Seattle got swept by San Fran
Every time I think the Eagles suck, all I need to do is watch some NFC action to remind me that us being bad is in the norm these days.
9 points for Branch. I'm pleased. He's been unproductive this year, but not everyone in the family can be a breadwinner. Just ask mpmcgraw.
Thank god the birds drafted Moats and not Gore :'(

Gore was taken 12 picks ahead of Moats.
This isn't like a Freddie Mitchell / Reggie Wayne / Chad Johnson / Steve Smith thing, where the Eagles actually could have taken any of those Pro Bowl players instead.

No matter. Gore would be inactive every week then.
they traded up for Herremans... The sad part is draft day i really thought the birds would draft gore since he had an extended stay at the novacare before the draft. He had the bad knees that andy looks for.

QuoteNFL HOOKS UP GIANTS, EAGLES FOR COWBOYS GAME
Later today, the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons will play in a game televised only on the NFL's in-house network. With the Cowboys leading the NFC East at 8-5, the 7-6 Giants and 7-6 Eagles are keenly interested in the game.
But there's a problem. The Giants and Eagles, who play on Sunday at the Meadowlands, are staying at hotels in North Jersey that don't get the league's in-house network, since the league's in-house network generally isn't available on cable systems in North Jersey.
The hotels, we're told, are wiring banquet rooms with DirecTV so that the Eagles and Giants can watch the game.
And the NFL is footing the bill.
Very cool.
Great they get hooked up, i have to go to my inlaws w/basic cable and no NFLN :'(
You should have ran a 4.2 in the 40 and you would have been hooked up.... or waited until you could confirm your lady's parents had DirecTV before you married her.
If i had not found beer that might have happened!
Go Atlanta.
Hopefully Vick can give TO the Herpes.
Dick Vermeil is filling in for Collinsworth and his voice is scratchier than ever. It sounds like he's taking a huge bong rip before everything he says.
He probably is, he owns a wineary, he probably has a couple trees :paranoid
The Falcons needed to complete a pass so they put Schaub in for a play.
This game could get ugly. Vick is DeMarcus Ware's bitch.
Dallas' Reid-like pass call on 3rd and 1.5 leads to a tipped ball, interception, and Falcons TD two plays later.
14-7.
14-14
Ike Reese made a monster hit on a return.
Cowboys D falls for the same TD play three times (one was called back). Horrible coaching job right there.

yep...i need a crumpler td for my fantasy team but those dopes keep doubling him in the end zone & leaving griffith WIDE open.
Herps up 28-24.
Dallas losing hurts the Eagles more than them winning, contrary to popular belief. Oh well though, doesn't matter. Eagles still need to at least win 2/3 to make the playoffs anyway.
Evidently Mexico's herpes flared up at the end, Schuab had to finish.
That is just a cover up. Mora pulled Vick's ass. One of those 2 morons isn't going to be in ATL next season.
TO after the game admitted he spit in Hall's face during the game.
Classy guy. I watched the 4th qtr of this game at the pizza place down the corner from me. A new low.
Go Jets!
Go Saints!
Go Steelers!
Only the Skins: 4th and inches from their own 15 and they punt. Hey Gibbs: You're 4-9 and the season is over. Go for it.
Then they get the delay of game penalty to take away any chance of going for it. Wow.
I love football.
Too bad it doesn't love you back.
New England is absolutely tearing Houston up. 20-0.
Saw that coming a mile away. You don't want to be the team that plays the Patriots the week after they've been shut out.
The taterskins are really frustrating the Saints offense so far. :boo
Jabar Gaffney just caught a touchdown pass from Tom Brady, and Billy McMullen just made a huge first down for Minnesota, who are trying to put up some points before the half.
Longwell wide right.
Jets lead 20-7
Steelers lead 17-3
taterskins lead 13-7
The two most important games (NYJ, PIT) are going in our favor though.
Big ups:
Coles for going nuts
Taylor for getting hurt
Pick it the farg up:
Ahman Green
Drew Brees
Don't worry, taterskins will find a way to choke.
Sean Taylor or Chester Taylor? Bobby Taylor? Brien Taylor?
Jets get another FG at the end of the half; 23-7
Bills up on Dolphins 7-0.
Fred. My pathetic ass team that had no business making the playoffs is now looking like theyre making the championship. I call it, superior managing.
BTW what a shtein game on CBS. Carolina sucks. I'd rather watch VY.

I need Driver, Colston and the Bills D to step up early today. Luckily my opponent, who has a better team, has Smith getting balls thrown from Weinke. But he has LT later on. :-\ I'm down by 20 right now with 4 guys left to play later on today (Garcia, Gates, Larry Fitz & Vinatieri)
Gaffney caught a TD today.
I've got Brees, Matt Jones, and Lee Evans in my money league in these early games and they aren't doing a farging thing for me.
Randle El is good at doing a lot of different things on the field, but being a regular ol' receiver isn't one of them.
The Titans' defense have scored three TDs off David Garrard.
God damn Drew Brees...do something.
34-3 PIT
26-7 NYJ
The taterskins are averaging 5.7 yards per rush against the Saints. The Saints need Hollis and his roid muscles back out there.
Del Rio calls a fade on 4th down. Brilliant.
Gradkowski out... Rattay in.
Tampa pulls to within 7 of the Bears, 24-17.
Skins up 16-10 on the Saints.
Saints ball. About 4:30 to go.
Jesus Joe plays it safe again. Hall of fame.
Barring a tie this afternoon, three of the four NFC East teams will have a W in Week 15. Will the Eagles be the team left out? :-\

Giving up 4 TDs to Tampon in the space of 15 minutes. Wow.
Dammit, why did Chicago let the clock run down and get into OT.
I hope that TB gets a kickoff return touchdown for the first time in history. >:(
Did Larry Fitzgerald die?

Rudy Johnson just went untouched into the endzone.
The Colts run defense makes the Eagles look like the Gang Green of old.
If only that stalwart run stopper Corey Simon weren't so tragically afflicted with weakness.

Big difference between Ocho Cinco and Douche Bag as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah, Johnson is an attention whore. But at the same time, I don't hear about him throwing his teammates under a bus. I don't hear about him sleeping in meetings, showing up late or drawing attention to himself while he's riding a stationary bike. He's out there legitimately having fun imo.
TO used to be like that but somewhere along the line he got addicted to the spot light and now he can't live without it. Bad PR is better than no PR in his case.

Hung on by 10. Phew. Nervous, nervous last qtr and a half. On to the title game!
Is there anyone who didn't see a 20-point Colts win coming? The media was all over the Bengals' jocks and declaring the Colts dead; I felt this win and the dopey "Don't count the Colts out yet!" columns sure to follow were inevitable.
