DeAngelo Williams will run all over us.
Will we win another game this year?
If the Eagles run defense wasn't so zesty I'd say the Eagles would have a chance in this game, considering how bad the Panthers played against the taterskins. But now since the formula to dominate the Eagles has seen so much exposure over the past couple of weeks, I would expect a heavy dose running plays, a very short game, and the Panthers walk out of Philly with a relatively easy win.
The Panthers have a much better D than the Colts, so I don't know if the offense can move the ball like they did last week.
57-1 Panthers?
I'm just going to save us all the trouble of having a 25 page game thread and sum it up right now.
Westbrook had a great game.
Garcia is meh, time to start Feeley.
Goddamn the run defense sucks, the line and LB's were being blown off the ball all game
Reno did alright on the returns tonight.
Andy, why did you pass the ball on 3rd and 1?
Alright, you can close the thread now.
You didn't explain how they got the one point. Probably one of those 'NFL firsts' that would only happen against the Eagles.

Kinda like being beat by a 62 yard field goal by a guy who's never made a kick past 50 yards in his 5 year career?
Yep, sounds like it was meant to be for the Eagles this 2006 season.
What are the odds we'll be the first team to go 0-16?
I know it sounds stupid, and I know someone will say "you're right, it does sound stupid," but I actually enjoyed watching the Colts game. I really didn't give a shtein what happened, I knew they'd lose. I just enjoyed the game. It's been awhile since I haven't been emotionally involved in the game. This game will just be like the last...fun time watching it, lose by 20.

It'll never happen. They'll accidentally win on the last play of the last game of the season when the opposing team's running back gets all turned around and discumbobulated and scores in his own endzone. This team will never be first at anything.

So, what...is this one of your proclomations of absolute certainty? If they beat the Panthers they will win enough games the rest of the year to get into the playoffs?
I didn't know "are in the playoffs" had subtle differences of interpretation.
i think its pretty clear that i meant if the season ended this weekend
What's sad is the offense is good enough to get them into the playoffs this year, even without McNabb.....but the defense is such shtein that they have no chance.

Yeah, but at least the country pretty much already knows who DeAngelo Williams is.
Brad Hoover then.
if the Eagles loose 2 more games like they did to the Colts and the Titans, taking all the tie breakers into account, I calculate they would be mathamatically eliminated from the playoffs for next year.
We're ranked 28th in the league against the run (those numbers mean shtein, we're the worst) and 4th against the pass. You would think JJ would put 8 men in the box vs. the Panthers. You would think.
Pick your poison, really. If they stack the box Steve Smith goes ape shtein. There's no winning this game.

Anyway I think they'll win the next two, get in the playoff hunt, get our hopes up, and then lose out.

I don't think the Eagles are that great against the pass, either.
I think it more has to do with the Eagles getting so badly torched on the ground that many teams aren't really putting up too many passing attempts. I mean Manning had 20 attempts. That has to be way below his average.
But, when you run the ball so effectively you gain a ton of yards and keep the clock moving, effectively shortening the game and not allowing for many passes.
Moreover, the special teams has been horrible in putting teams back deep in their own territory. A lot of teams as of late had a pretty short field to work with and with a short field and an effective run game any team can put up a ton of points and keep the clock moving as well.
If a team really wanted to pass on the Eagles, I think they can. Remember, earlier on this year we were complaining on how bad the secondary was getting torched. I don't think they really got any better, it's just that they haven't been exposed as of late.

I hate to say it, because I never thought it would happen, but I agree with IGY on this one. I like the Eagles on Monday Night.
The only reason anyone likes the Eagles is because the Panthers lost to the taterskins last week.
If Carolina can run the ball effectively, which it seems like they can on this Eagles D, and the Carolina D plays to their potential, I don't think the Eagles will win.
It will probably be a good game, and maybe the Eagles will have a chance to win it. We'll see; but I'm not exactly confident in their ability to win games right now. I guess one can say that 'they're at home' and will therefore play better, but some of the worst games they played this year have been at the Linc. The Eagles have been horrible at defending the homefield. In fact, they arguably played their best on the road.
Smith & Delhomo are going to have a field day on that miserable excuse of a defense.
Panthers 38
Eagles 17
Delhomme has been zesty. He sucks. Its funny about him because he's another QB who the McNabb haters on the radio would rather have than Donovan.
Pass defense has been fine, Romey. If anyone is gonna kill them it'll be DeAngeo Williams & Foster if he plays
Eagles are toast
You know damn right well that the Eagles are going to do EVERYTHING they can to stop the run. If that means putting eight men in the box, then so be it.
Considering the Eagles pass rush amounts to nothing more than gnats smashing against a car windshield these days, someone is going to be open and although Delhomo isn't much, his main weapon certainly is.
It's gonna be a bloodbath, dude. Bad.

Hmm, so you're rollin with the Eagles then, eh? :D
I'm going to say 28-20 Panthers. The score will be close, but it will feel like the Eagles never really had a shot. Foster and Williams will have average days statistically but will get the yards when needed. Smith 100+ yards and a TD, and Delhomme will throw atleast 1 interception.
I have never been less motivated to watch an Eagles MNF game in my life. I am done rearranging my schedule to watch this team until they get their shtein together.
Translation: my boss is in town and my son has basketball practice tomorrow.
I'm hosting a poker game tomorrow night. The game will be on, and I will have the prime viewing seat. I'm actually looking forward to it.
I'm not even going to the sports bar tomorrow night. That way, when I'm drinking away my sorrows in the 3rd quarter... I don't have to worry about trying to get my drunk ass home.
I'll just have to put a dent in my own supply.

I'll be asleep by the end of the 3rd quarter.

From an analysis that I read on Football Outsiders the #18 pick is in the optimum range for a team. High draft picks (those in the first 10) are actually less beneficial for teams on a average basis, due to the fact that there is so much guarunteed money tied up in a such a hit-or-miss event like the draft. Lower first round picks actually provide more value per dollar spent. Of course there are times when the high-risk high-reward works out (see Merriman, Shawn) but these are outwieghed by busts. It's one of the reasons why sometimes teams that do well and have low draft picks continue to do well and why teams that consistently draft high never seem to get out of the bottom. A few bad picks (see Millen, Matt) and your team is financially hostage to those guys for years.

What's scary is if the defense shows up at ALL, and they can beat the Panthers.....3 out of the last 4 games are winnable (taterskins, Giants, Falcons).....If this team somehow sneaks into the playoffs, it'll be a disgrace. But then again, looks like any one of the teams that ends up the 6th seed should have no business even thinking playoffs.

Can never make up for all of the ones he's given to Eagle fans.
Mike should try wrapping up next time.
We need a couple more paralyzations before these iceholes will stop leading with their heads.
Panthers are gonna get a TD here. Swell.
:-D That shot of Reid! Priceless! :-D
Retarded defense strikes again.
That's the D we all know and love.
Let's face it. It's for the better. The close we are to losing Reid. :poison
how do you have mikel 1 on 1 with johnson on a pass play???!
Hooray for Quentin 1v1 on the outside.
This team just has a massive stupidity streak a mile long.
Broken nose for Mike Lewis.
Bring out the boo birds! Boooo!! Boooo you fat farg!! Booo!!
Stellar defensive effort to end the half. Well done, guys.
Way to be.
So the Panthers had the ball on their own 22 yard line with 54 seconds left in the half, and they scored a TD. Great job, defense.
My duty was cancelled, so I now get to watch this game. What a defensive effort to end the half. Is there any doubt they will start to run the ball down the Eagles throats in the second half?

at that rate they can still give up an additional 233 points this game, as long as it doesn't go into overtime.

What is with the ugly black box around the Iggles logo?
Had to paint over the Army and Navy logos from this weekend.
This team is an absolute embarrassment. Blow it the farg up and start over.
Job 1: Get the Deliverance Double off the field and put Feeley in there.
- Run defense looks good
- Garcia looks like warmed over shtein
- Can the OL run block? I doubt it. Pathetic
- Can the DL get pressure on Delhomme please? They are starting JEREMY BRIDGES for chrissakes!! And Evan Mathis. And Geoff Hangartner. GET. PRESSURE.
- Darren Howard is playing a lot of DT tonight.
Gaither playing very well.
The OL play is definitely the biggest problem along with the play calling.
They won't win this game, but it's better than last week. And the week before that. So...I don't know, Dave Spadaro spin on the way.
I do like that stat though Korny said about the Panthers losing 4 straight 2nd half leads
Is Feely listening to an IPOD on the sideline?
nice 2nd effort bucky
Theismann advocating total abandonment of the run... if that doesn't convince Andy that the all-pass offense is bad, nothing will.
CBuck looking fresh so far this half.
3rd and 1. Dont tell anybody.... but we ran the ball! :paranoid
Holy crap the OL blocked!!
Impressive drive there. For real.
STALLWORTH!!! :yay
Theismann seems to have something going on with Garcia. This man-love seems to be going way beyond Favre or Vick-lovin'
Now if only the D can stop sucking for a change.
Ballin'
I really think Stallworth could be a pro bowler if he and McNabb could stay healthy. I'd give his health the benefit of the doubt and try to re-sign him.

Will this D ever make an important stop? EVER?! :boom
:-D :boom :'(
In-freaking-credible. :boo
Really, Sean Considine needs to be cut. He NEVER makes a tackle. He's brutally bad. I think IGY was understating his terribleness.
On a positive note that just won my fantasy game for me.

Tom Tupa threw 12 TD passes. Hell, he started about a dozen games at QB.
Stallworth having a great game.
The defense is better against the run, but they still haven't fixed that problem with giving up the big play.
If anything, at least this game has been entertaining.
Baskett was bailed out there...
AJ time?
It's nice going into a game with no expectations--
What the farg was that? :-D
TOUCHY FEELEY!
Jeff... what the... farg... was that? :boom
Damn it!
He sucks ass.

Timmy Chang!!
Bubby Brister
Wrong way
Andy's facial expressions are classic tonight.
He's trying to do a better job there.
its probably gas
He'll be fine
This defense needs to be blown up. Seriously.
The Birds could use a turnover.
For once... can they not give up points right after they get some back?
Or a blown timeout. Whichever works.
Field goal or bust here...
When was the last time we had 3 time outs left going into the last 5 minutes of a game?
They're talking about Jake Delhomme being the most successful undrafted QB of the last 15 years. It's strange, I vaguely recall an undrafted QB not named Jake Delhomme being the league MVP twice and winning the Super Bowl, in which he was MVP as well.

I'm at the point where I'm thinking... if you're going to let them score a TD, let them do it quickly please.
Just need one stop outside the 40 yard line (not 35, because every kicker against the Eagles becomes the best kicker of all time) and then we're good
It starts with field position. They need to keep them inside the 30. Good.
Hey, the special teams stopped them before the 30! :D
Good time for ST's to make a decent stop there
Kasay's already good from this distance. I'm worried about 7 points at this point.
The Eagles are doing just enough to make this hurt more.....
That and Theisman not annoying me all that much indicates the end is near!

It is amazing that the next three games are so critical now. Who would have thought those games would have been meaningful with the way this team has played the last 6 weeks?
It's nice when the Eagles play an opponent who is as self-destructive and pitiful as they are on defense.
Great win.

TITO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clutch grab and excellent job getting his feet in.
He has been great this year.

What I was wondering was what if Walt Anderson (who is the worst referee in the NFL) did not uphold that INT. They threw no flag on Keyshawn for launching his helmet and taking it off while on the field. So the Panthers would've had the ball at the 7 still. It should have been at the 22 after that.
Skins game and Falcons game should be wins...I guess. There are no guarantees with this team, but if they play like this, they'll win those two games. Season then comes down to winning 1 of Gints and Pukes game. We'll see, but I'm fully expecting them to shtein the bed against the Skins next week.

8-8 might get you into the playoffs. The way I look at it the Skins and Falcons are terrible and should be W's, the Giants can be because that's a team that's going nowhere, the Cowboys will trounce us but if we could somehow injure TO or Romo that would be a moral victory in my eyes.

Just curious, could he change that call or would it be a booth review only? (or maybe you meant the immediate call).
The offense actually scored on 4 out of the 5 possessions in the 2nd half.
9-7? They can probably beat the Skins, probably beat the Falcons at the end of the year, but the question is whether they can win those two middle games. Who knows.

Trendy little bitch rants take precedence over trying to enjoy what little success that we are given as fans. Hey, we all know that our team sucks, but no one pegged this game as awin in the early season.

I was thinking about that when he scrambled. I was like "we know he can truck a fool because he did it to Dawk in Cleveland".
As bad as he looked in the first half, he really got it together later on. And the dopes who booed him for staying in the game after taking two huge hits should kill themselves.
Hopefully he can keep this up. I'm one who wanted AJ but Garcia's playing well.

Sad, but looking at Conference Records, if the Eagles go 2-2, and beat Atlanta and Washington, they should make the playoffs at 8-8. Looking at the schedules, I don't see how an 8-8 team doesn't make it (there may be two this year). I think all the Eagles need to do is win two more (beating either NY OR ATL is very important).
Anyone catch ESPN screwing up the McNabb injury timeline?
One of the sideline chicks kept saying how McNabb lead them to the Super Bowl the year after breaking his leg and then they even put up a graphic showing he broke it in 2003 and missed 6 games.

one of most enjoyable games i've watched in a long time...probably because my expectations were low.
Absolutely, I wasn't even getting pissed like I usually do when there were bad calls.
speaking of....how did jenkins not get flagged when he pancaked jeffy in the 4th quarter?
Garcia specifically requested that he not be flagged, because he loves him some big chocolate man.
man...that was a fun game to be at, 2nd half anyway.
self-congratulating moment of the night:
one of the guys who yelled at RJS to sit down at the Skins game was there and yelled at me and some other guys to sit down. when i turned around, he was wearing a fur coat, not the long kind. to his orders to sit down i responded with, "nice coat, how many dicks did you have to suck to get that?" followed up with, "you should've gotten a free AIDS test with that coat", then we all laughed at him and didn't hear much anymore.
Bravo, SunMo. Bravo.
i had a good feeling about last night's game before it even started. no idea why, i just knew we were going to win. maybe because winning last night actually does more damage to us fans because now some of us have hope.
hey SunMo, is there any way that I can get those seats when you lose your season ticket privledges?
no, they don't like finger-giving up in those parts

#6 seed bitches! :D

If the Eagles lose tonight: move up to the #12 pick
If the Eagles win tonight: #6 seed and drop to the #18 pick
hmm :-\
what made you change your mind?
nothing. I want the Eagles to win, but I was saying that if they lost, they'd have a top 12 pick and could end up with #4 overall if they lost out....
I Got way too blitzed last night. I knew I killed a full bottle of Captain, but then discovered this morning that I also killed my sixer of Blue Moon. I don't even remember drinking beer..
Anyway, the game is a blur, I lost a little bit at poker, but thought all was well because I Tivo'd the game. Found out my kids were watchinig Nickelodean, so the game wasn't taped. Damn....
Stupid kids.
Lets be honest the Defense really didn't look as good as they were in the beginning of the season. A decent team could of trampled them. I thought the Titans and Indy had a better gameplan, they just straight pounded the ball. Panthers ran, from time to time, but didn't commit. I honestly think if they would of ran the ball more, they would of won the game. Either way kudos to getting pressure on Delhomo and causing 2 crucial INT's at the end.
Offensively they started slow and very sloppy. Again a better team will take advantage of those situations and could easily rack up the points until the offense gets going. The O-line I felt did okay. There were many times where Garcia was flushed from the pocket, but then again I think Garcia feels more comfortable outside the pocket. I don't know if its fair to say thats the o-lines fault or just Garcia's style. I think last nights win was a good confidence builder for him and the team. If they have any chance in the next few weeks they need to get on track early and not play catch up.
Overall I'm damn proud of them finishing the game the way they did. The started slow but caught up and fought to the end. Made my week :yay
I think Garcia is better when he is outside of the pocket. He's kind of on the short side and needs to see the field. The Eagles will probably be running more roll out plays for him and whatnot. He has his limitations but if they can change the offense a little around him they might get a game or two out of him. Better teams will be able to shut him down easier.
Runyan had himself a game against Peppers though.
Hell yes he did :yay
He had Peppers' number all night, usually by a fistful of jersey. Ha.

Like my Highschool coach used to say: "It's not holding unless you're flagged for it"
Agreed.
re: zebras last night...they called that game awful loose. lots of crap was going on throughout the game that other crews would have flagged.
I for one was glad to see it that way. Rucker didn't deserve a flag for hitting Garcia; unlike others here, I'm glad he didn't get one
What scares me about the Birds is that they need the opposing QB to have a spirit-crushing game in order to win. Teams with effective QBing and decent game plan can easily topple the Eagles.
But that being said in two key wins this year - Dallas and Carolina - the QBs of each team made catastrophic errors that led to an Eagles victory. Fortunately there seems to be only two teams in the NFC that can beat us with a kryptonite-like game plan of effective QBing (using three-step drops) and a stout running game. Those teams are Dallas and New Orleans. And we already beat Dallas and should have beaten New Orleans.
I guess it comes down to who is better between us, the Vagiants, the Falcons and the Panthers. We absolutely must beat the Foreskins next week.

According to this, Lito knew a fade to Key was coming because of game tape study
QuoteThe end zone interception that sealed Philadelphia's victory against Carolina on Monday night can be partly attributed to the fact that the Eagles knew the fade route to the Panthers' Keyshawn Johnson was coming. That's according to cornerback Lito Sheppard, who made the interception.
According to the Eagles, when quarterback Jake Delhomme looks over to a receiver and pats himself on the backside, it means the fade is coming to that player.
Wednesday, a Panthers' player confirmed that.
"Yeah, that was the signal," he said. "We'll definitely have to change it."
"We saw it on film," Sheppard said. "We watch film and we share the things we see, and that was one of those things. When he patted his butt, I knew to stay to the outside for the fade."
Delhomme wasn't sure his signal gave the play away.
"I did it on the (earlier) touchdown," he said. "But that doesn't say what route we're running or if it's even a pass. I kind of do that throughout the game. I don't know; I think the ball just kind of fell into him, if you ask me."
Wahhh..Delhomme is a whiny bitch. Give lito credit, he said the same thing on the post game interview, they ran the play earlier same signal, he picked it up and played the right spacing.
knowing the play is one thing....intercepting the ball is another
money made a great play

that's not being disputed, brah. but yeah, you told us.
Delhomme might have patted his butt throughout the game, but he patted his butt in a similar circumstance down on the 6 yard line. I'm sure patting his butt at the 50 yard line and patting his butt on the 6 going in when time is expiring and they want to go for a TD means different things in different scenarios.
Delhomme is just made because he made it obvious in a similar situation that he was going for a fade to the right corner of the end zone. Putz.
