Bad start Titans 7-0
Mike Lewis strikes again. >:(
The Eagles have a monopoly on starting ugly.
Titans introducing their new light blue pants today. They look like a bluer version of Dallas...
Bad start for the Eagles offense :P

???
Because the Eagles think they have to make up the deficit all at once, instead of just make a nice sustained drive down the field. Instead of taking what's there they try to force the deep stuff. Not very smart.
If we don't blow this game open, this season is lost.
OK, they have a turn over....
Now bury them, don't be looking towards next week, put you foot down!
I see they're off to a stellar start again this week. Hopefully the O will convert here.
All right. just punch it in.
Damnit. Don't get cute.
Gamecenter said McCoy forced the fumble. It's awesome having a WLB that can make plays instead of Keith Adams.
I wonder what feed is on that TVu... might as well check...

Good for the Eagles - great for my FF team!!
With 6:35 left in the 1st quarter, Lee Evans has caught two 83 yard TD passes. He has 180 receiving yards.
I don't think TVU picks it up this week. Their CBS affiliate is in San Francisco. The Eagles game is limited this week.

Lee Evans has 204 yards after the first quarter. The record is 336. That would be awesome if he broke it. So far it looks like Losman won't farg up either, he's 8 for 8.

It was an obvious QB sneak situation. There's no good excuse for making ANY other call than that in that situation. Even a Westbrook run would have been stupid. Throwing the ball is EXTREMELY stupid.
Birds offense stinkin' up the place today.
This team looks awful. What did Andy have them doing this week?
another dropped pass leads to a 42-yd FG....7-3
Out of all my 30+ years of being an Eagles fan, this is by far the most annoying team I've had to watch.
3rd and short...pass...of course. A wide open Greg Lewis can't handle the McNabb laser at 5 yards. Combinaton of patheticness.
Solution run the ball, catch the damn ball, and put some damn touch on your passes. :boom
That was a nice play by Barber.
I have the feeling this game is over already regardless of how much time is left. I tell ya, if the Titans run the ball, the game is over. Vince has almost throw 2 picks already...not good playcalling
Mahe with some decent returns today. I still hate his damn bubble head...
Reno Mahe is MVP of the game so far for the Eagles.

McNabb is down and wasn't hit :-\
And so begins the Jeff Garcia era! Goodbye season...
Excuse me while I shoot myself
So instead of running the ball on first and second down....they pass...and now McNabb is dead, season officially dead.
On the bright side, Reno Mahe...continues not to suck.
Seriously, i hope this is just a minor ankle sprain or something.
Eagles receiving:
Stallworth 2 rec./54 yds
Westbrook 4 rec./24 yds
Worms 5 rec/198 yds

Ran towards the Tennessee sidelines, threw downfield, and as he came down, his right leg was locked/extended and he appeared to have landed wrong. Couldn't get up....tried to and collapsed...
Alright, let's go, Garcia!
Andy Reid calls 5 straight plays...the 5th play was a super fake play action...McNabb had to scramble to the right...gets the the sideline and guns one. He landed and tripped and never got up...
Did it look like a torn knee ligament? farg.
Well look on the bright side.
I am going to win my fantasy game today.
KILL ME NOW! >:(
IT looked like his ankle/lower leg to me. We can only hope its a severe ankle sprain, or a REALLY bad cramp or something.
My bet is on high ankle sprain. If it's worse, ti's a broken leg/ankle/foot.
And I would have won today no doubt if I put Lee Evans in my flex. :boom
I don't know, if no one landed on it and it was simply what he did I don't think it will be that serious.
He might have hyper-extended his knee, but that would only probably cost him this week and he'll probably sit out the rest of the game.
If no one landed on him it might not be as bad... And we pray...
They just said it was a right knee injury
It didn't look bad at all...its wasn't like anything twisted...he just rolled when he hit the ground and ended up on his knees...grabbing the right lower leg...couldn't tell if it was knee, fibula or ankle??? Either way Reid is calling the plays so we're screwed...we can only hope for the defense to win the game

I think you were deluded and didnt want to believe that Marty calling the plays wouldnt make a difference.
Marty is as bad as Reid I dont see why people have such a hard time understanding this.
No need to fire him...just hand the goddamn playbook over...jesus...what a tease. I mean seriously Reid fargin finish the job before you give us blue balls.
I think Marty was calling a lot of the games from the outset. Andy just wanted to keep it in house and when they had a decent game last week he wanted to give Marty a little credit.
Cue the Benny Hill theme. This is going to get comical.
Return of the dink and dunk?
Oh boy.
I didn't see Reid carrying his plastic play list from the stands last week, but he sure as hell got it today. Man Garcia sucks...Feeley time? :-D
I just dont get it. How can someone on the level on an NFL coach be so goddamn stupid?
GET GARCIA OUTTA' THERE AND PUT IN FEELEY!!!
Why not? Feeley has proven he can win in this offense before.
Haha oh man this is going to be an interesting year.
So what do you do on the first 4 plays when your star QB gets injured?
You pass the ball 4 times.
My hopes that this injury might force Reid to run the ball...have been dashed.
Okay, thats 3 INT's almost thrown by Young. Lets get a turnover here D!
Does Andy Reid adjust with Garcia at the helm? Not yet...
Feeley is inactive for today. Garcia is all we got. I don't know who the emergency QB is... Bartrum?
Feeley can only play if Garcia gets hurt. Them's the rules folks.
It's on the shoulders of the defense now. They have to make these plays when opportunity arises.
And Young scrambles for the first when the defense breaks containment.
Holy shtein Mike Lewis got launched 12 ft into the air...I can't believe the Titans are calling so many pass plays!~#!~$%@
Vince Young prances for 1st down
Hard to see the Eagles winning this game unless the defense or special teams come up with some points.
What the hell? Will someone catch a farging INT.
4 INT's opportunities BLOWN!
Lito..............you had that!
So this game could be 17-7, if the defense could catch...
Why do we have retarded players?
At least they got a TOD.
bad bad call by Titans
William James, son of Peter helps defend the 4th down pass. Eagles take over.
Get a first down!
SI calling it a knee injury
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was carted off the field with a right knee injury early in the second quarter of Philadelphia's game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
McNabb was rolling to his right near the Tennessee sideline and was bumped out of bounds by Kyle Vanden Bosch after throwing an incomplete pass. He grabbed his leg and was immediately tended to by trainers. There was no immediate word on the extent of his injury. He was replaced in the lineup by Jeff Garcia.
GARCCCCIIIAIA!!!!
Garcia makes a throw longer then 10 yards. :o
Pound that shtein.
oh i like that! buck and westy in backfield, westbrook goes in motion, buck pounds it. marty ripped playlist out of reid hands and gave him a burger
So I guess that Morninwheg took over the play calling now that they are running again? ::)
Assuming McNabb is out long term, they could end up activating Moats for the rest of the season and going with the 3 headed monster type approach. Of course I'd rather have Duce then Moats....but Moats is a threat to break one every time he touches it.
Keep running the ball. It's a shame it takes a McNabb injury to make you do it.

Too many drops by Brown....should get some signing bonus $$$ back for every drop
Morningwood walked over to Reid and said "NOW LOOK WHAT YOU DID!" and took the play card away from him.
Reggie back into form. Drops the first down.
This team simply cannot catch any sort of balls.
McNabb's arm strength cannot be an excuse. Reggie Brown just has butter hands.
Even if Reggie should have caught that, they got 21 yards on 3 carries and then had to pass twice in a row.
Reid finishes his burger takes playsheet back. Receivers can't handle Garcia's weak throws, and drop them
Akers keeps us int he game
I guess the drops aren't all McNabb's fault.

Dude, you should see Reno Mahe's returns man.
QB, I was talking about the 2003 version of Duce. Meaning I'd rather hve the Duce/Westy/Buck trio we had. But I'm more then happy with Westbrook/Buckhalter/Moats. Duce did a lot of things that Moats can't do...but Moats is a bigger threat to score from anywhere then Duce ever was.

If they can't figure it out, that may be good. At first look, they may not think it's a torn ligiment, due to lack of movement with the knee cap. So maybe it will end up being something like a very small tear in the MCL or ACL. If so, McNabb can come back from that in a few weeks, depending how small the tear is.
I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. No, actually my high school teammate had a very similar injury. He partically tore his MCL, but the mvoement in his knee cap was so limited that they didn't see it at first. He only missed two weeks.
At first I thought it was a rib injury because I didn't see anything that remotely would even look like he hurt his knee. Plus he was kneeling on his knee which wouldn't make me assume that is what he hurt.
What made me worry though is when he clutched the side/back of the knee. Whenever someone immediately reaches for that it usually isn't good.
I don't even care if he doesn't come back this year, I just hope it's not bad to the point where he can't come back next year even. You see in Palmer and Culpepper that it is hard to come back from.
Put Reno at QB.
If the injury was so severe and obvious, We would have heard about what it is by now.
Unless they are waiting till after the game to reveal it. It seemed so harmless though. This is agonizing.
Garcia uses a timeout on 2nd down, 40 seconds into the half :boom
That's what my thinknig was.
I mean I really believe it cvould be something like a very small tear in one of the ACL/MCL/PCL's, but not something they can find without an MRI.
I'd give Garth a pass, he hasn't played all season.
A catch... :o :o :o
Who really cares if LJ comes back. He can't catch a ball in his bread basket. The guy is more of a joke instead "one of the better passing catching TE's in the league" -- please. When has he displayed that this year besides the first couple of games? He's been non-existent when the Eagles need him the most.
Looks like they're still heaving the ball all day. Stubborn without end.
Garcia can't even throw 30 yrds,
Oui!
They should have just let Akers try a 57 yard field goal.
Awesome. Great run D.
All of a sudden things are feeling a lot like the second half of last season's Eagles.

I'm officially at the point where if this team doesn't make MAJOR changes in the offseason(ie coach and multiple players) then I will root against this team next year. I'm not putting my time, heart, and soul into them for 3 hours every week to get back NOTHING.
season over
If this team were a race horse, they'd be heading to the glue factory right now.
apparently the Refs missed a holding call.
Everything that could go wrong for the Eagles has gone wrong this season. I was expecting that all the positive and negative things that could have happened to the Eagles this season would probably balance out, and the talent of the team would get em to 10-6. But there really haasn't been anything that could have happened when it comes to the "luck of the bounce" that has been positive for the Eagles. 62 yard field goals, costly drops, injured QB's, etc...
Just really wasn't meant to be this year.
This team is the biggest bunch of losers I've seen in a long time. With the talent they have it is just horrible.
These guys are lazy, incompetent, and just plain dumb. Absolute retards.
Merrill Reese is calling it a mess "he hasn't seen in ages", and from a homer like him you know it's pretty bad.
I'm guessing McNabb is done for the year. What's the point in coming back to try and lead a bunch of chumps?
Actually I probably won't root against them if they don't make changes, but I definitely won't buy tickets to any games or attempt to. They don't deserve my money or any fan's money.
If anyone had a DVR go back to the Travis Henry TD and watch how IMMEDIATELY Darwin Walker gets blown on his back the second the ball is snapped.

Of course it's a taterskins fan. Only a toothless hick taterskin fan would make come on to CF to make racist comments about McNabb. (you know what word "stillupfront" replaces, right?)
Toothless hicks? haha... yeah and the Eagles fans that come down from Philly every year are really classy people. All Ivy Leaguers I'm sure. Haha.
Wait I keep hearing how the taterskins crowds are so "corporate" or that we have the "wine and cheese" crowd of the league. And I also hear from other people that we are "toothless hicks"
So which one is it? That's a pretty big difference don't you think?
Good game today by the Niggles....helluva team. I guess neither of us are playoff bound this season huh?
Super Bowl score remains 3-0.
And go ahead, go ahead....I know you don't want to talk about history....seeing as how your franchise doesn't have any.

I think it's funny you like to point to your super bowls whenever your team is in the shteinter. I don't care how many Super Bowls the Eagles win, after they win one and have a zesty year, I'm not going to go "oh well at least we won a Super Bowl 20 years ago".

LJ Smith caught one! :crazy
Looking at the Linc field and the ugly muddy grass, I'm wondering how much longer before they install FieldTurf....
Cincinnati
New England
Baltimore
NY Giants/Jets
All had grass fields and switched, and Buffalo has turf too....
we're driving here 3:25 3 pass 6 rush...we get into scoring position and they abandon the run, 3rd and long....let me guess PLAY ACTION FAKE!
Heinz Field still has grass too, and people are calling for FieldTurf here in Pittsburgh.
Oh for god sakes. :'(
jesus we can't get a break...
:puke
This team is embarrasing.
They need to blow up this whole team and rebuild... with a new coach.

agreed. 1 1/2 seasons of this garbage is evidence enough this "team" isn't any good.
what's all this negativity about? The Eagles are winning the yards passing stat.
The refs have been only slightly more competent than the Eagles today. Not a well-called game by any means, though it hardly matters the way the Eagles have played.
Dirk Johnson made the best catch of the game on that FG attempt. He should be the WR coach.
Everytime I watch that replay of McNabb it boggles my mind. What the hell happened? ???
No hope...no hope...

The good news is that he might be able to start the season next year. McNabb is a rigorous trainer, and he gets himself in excellent shape. 9 months from now will be the end of August.
I think he might be ready to go by the beginning of next season, but the Eagles still need to make it a priority to get someone who might have to start for a month at the beginning of next year.
I was watching the post-game stuff on the official site, and they were showing the cameraman on the sidelines closest to McNabb without actually having him in frame. I turned it off after the 73rd time one of those farging morons in the stands shouted "You're still living in Ricky's shadow."
I hate you people. All of you.

Yeah, but Palmer trained back and clearly wasn't the same. Same with Culpepper. McNabb's isn't nearly as serious, so we'll see, but if he isn't going to be 100% for 2007 then we have zero chance of going anywhere, unless this team can build a Bears-like defense where we don't need to score 20 points a game to win.

I dunno, Palmer looks pretty good this year, and he had a helluva day today.
But, I agree. Even with a healthy McNabb at the start of next season this team needs a serious attitude adjustment. They play uninspired football and it is really disheartening to watch.
good qb, yeah... no ones denied that. he's also a leader of this team, and in that department he's failed miserably. until he wins something he'll continue to hear stupid shtein being thrown in his direction. especially when he lets it be well known that it bothers him. even when he was healthy it was obvious this team wasn't going anywhere this year. and now that he's gone it's a foregone conclusion.

Do you think Peyton Manning hears the same shtein that Donovan hears in Philly? Considering that Peyton has been in the league longer, has more talent surrounding him year in and year out, and yet has never won the 'big game' nevermind ever even getting the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl.
Yet, everyone embraces Manning because he puts up great numbers in the regular season. Nevermind that he lays a big egg every year in the playoffs.
nah..mannings got it made. he didn't get booed on draft day 8 years ago.
i'm pretty sure mannings likely to hear unwelcomed comments in his direction. i'm sure he's even been *gasp* booed once or twice before. i'm pretty sure i've never heard him cry about it. and both of them have won the same thing. nothing.
McNabb is a whiner and (so far) a choker. Anyone who doesn't see that it retarded.
I'll still root for him and he is still this team's best chance to win, but this blind allegiance to him and the ceaseless defense of his psyche is ridiculous.
This team sucks. Literally, sucks. They are terrible. Top to bottom. Can't catch. Can't tackle. Can't block. Fundamentals blow. Play calling is pathetic. Just a bad team.
Never gonna happen, but they need to fire Andy. Need a change. Come and blow things up. It's really over with this group. Continually putting band-aid's on the team isn't gonna work. McNabb is as good of a QB as you will find, no need to change there. But at this point, you need to get an expensive backup. Someone who can win long term. I hate this. farg me why do I care.

No one ever changes their mind about this and no one ever 'wins'. It is just a large waste of time.
so far is right. the guy could've led this team to at least one title already.. he has the physical skills to do so. if he only didn't need to use that thing called a head. it's evident he doesn't have the leadership skills to have his team ready to play week in and week out, and especially so in big games. now he's out for a prolonged period of time for the 3rd time in 5 years. the team wasn't playing that great with him in there.. the seasons over and they still haven't won shtein, and probably won't next year either.
right blame mcnabb for the teams zesty loses this year. your a fargin idiot
i didn't blame it all on him. originally i was saying i don't feel sorry for someone who's still bitching about getting booed 8 years ago when his team plays like it has all year. he does have a large part of it on his shoulders. thanks for noticing though, retard.
Show me where McNabb consistently bitches and moans about his 'booing'. You rarely ever hear him say anything about it. Just because his parents can't let it go doesn't necessarily mean he still holds bad blood about it. Parents are never going to understand it, so who fargin' cares what they think.
All I'm saying is that McNabb has faced a crapload of more criticism and cynicism in his 8 years than Manning has in his 9 or 10, yet both have exactly the same number of titles -- zip. McNabb at least played in the big game and at least the Eagles have an NFC championship over that span. Manning can't say the same.
Does this excuse Donovan? No, he had opportunities to win a title and hasn't. However, if you're in Donovan's position and you're consistently getting ripped apart every week because everyone that surrounds you are a bunch of Hoydas, I don't think it is exactly fair when QB's like Manning are lauded and they haven't done jack shtein, or even has as great of a playoff record as McNabb has.
I think it was proven today that McNabb's hot throws aren't exactly the problem. Our zesty receivers can't even catch a softball from Garthia.

McNabb brings this up? Not the ever intrusive interviewers/media, who focuses on personal issues more than the player on the field. Not when countless others have unfairly judged the type of player/person he is. Put yourself in this guys shoes. Does he deserve even a quarter of the shtein he has taken since being drafted?
Give me a ten year contract for over $100 million bucks and you won't hear a goddamned peep out of me nor would I give one flying shtein what the fans thought of me eight years ago.
The arguement is pointless nobody knows if he does or doesn't. That shouldn't matter to us as fans. All I care about is what he does on the field. If the media didn't paint pictures no one would give a shtein...the fact is the Eagles season is over as of now and McNabb should be the last person to be pointing at for the way this season went.
The Bucs game is entirely on his shoulders. And beyond that he is the self-proclaimed leader of this team. He is one of the FIRIST people you should point at after ANY loss. It comes with the territory.

McNabb also made the plays to get the Eagles the lead late in the 4th quarter. What else did you want him to do, run out and block the 62 yard field goal?
RJS, when you say things like "McNabb constantly brings up being booed in interviews", it really shows how much you just WANT to be a negative POS. I know you're not stupid enough to believe that McNabb just brings it up, and it has nothing to do with the media asking him about it and constantly dragging it up over and over again.

why do you think they ask about it? because he constantly talks about it, they know they'll get a sound clip about it.
and if he was really past it, he'd respond to the media's questions about it by saying, "That's in the past and I don't talk about it anymore."
but keep blaming the big bad media for doing their jobs.

Hah! Then you'd all be on here talking about how he's such a Hoyda for not talking about it. How he dodges questions and just tries to be the corperate man. How he should just get it off his chest and not be so afraid to tell us how pissed off it made him to get booed on one of the best days of his life. What a puss!
But shame on him for keeping his mouth shut and taking the high road when TO was tearing McNabb and the team apart.

actually no, because if he didn't ask the quesiton, it wouldn't provide the news with a sound clip, and we'd never know he was asked the question.
you probably have trouble following the directions on a box of pop tarts, huh?
This was the first Eagles game I missed in a few years, and it looks like I picked a good one to miss. The high(low)lights of this game are torture enough, I'm so so glad I didn't watch the game.
Poor tackling, dropped passes, dropped INTs, poor coaching... I got all that from the highlights. What a game. Garcia throwing the ball 48 times against the Texans zestyass run defense is disgusting. Andy Reid is a farging idiot. fargin' hell man. How stubborn, how farging stupid can one coach be.
It sucks ass big time that McSlabb is hurt, I'm still a big fan and supporter of his. I think he has what it takes to be a super bowl winning QB. Call it blind allegiance if you want, but there aren't many QBs in the game I'd take over him. I hope to hell he's ready by the start of next season, otherwise I might shoot myself. :crazy

It's amazing what people will try to pick at after a horrible loss...The Eagles played a horrible game and our star QB was lost for the season...lets call him a Hoyda! :crazy
The bottom line is this;
People in this town are too goddamn caught up in what is said to the press or not said to the press. People are also too goddamn concerned about external issues. Meaning what the guys farging parents happen to think about something. The media ask the same questions and they give the same answers year after year.
All that should matter is what happens on the field - and McNabb is one of the best QBs in the NFL and has been for years. Most of the teams in the NFL would kill to have him and their fans would kill to have him as their QB. But not in Philadelphia becuse we're proud to rip our players apart because of stupid off the field bullshtein.
The only thing that we should give a farg about is the on field issues. And he's pretty goddamn good on the field. But people would rather have a guy who is rah-rah in press conferences and see the cameras showing him yelling rather than actually producing.
Exactly.
If and when this guy does win the Super Bowl, I'll put the over/under at 15 of the number of times he gets asked something like..."You're here, you've taken the Eagles to a place they've never been before...Super Bowl champions.....now looking back on the day they drafted you, all the booing....blah blah blah etc etc etc.."
It's not Donovan McNabb's fault that the media will never, EVER let it go.

why do u guys even try to fight it...we all know mcnabb is to weak mentally. he will never win cause mentally he isnt good enough.
Alright, take all the negative factors that McNabb has as a player. Not most accurate passer, can get happy feet when pressured, has shown tendancies to hold onto ball too long, can get in a rut if bad decisons made early, add to the list as you wish...
Yet the gameplan offensively has not changed in years! It's still a pass happy gameplan. Nothing has changed. No teams are fooled. The coaches have proven that they don't and won't adjust to different teams and or adjust if something isn't working during the game. They continue to put the pressure on McNabb...30-50 passes a game! Why put that much emphasis on a QB when he has proven to have some of the above negative factors? I'm not saying McNabb sucks. He's def top 5 or top 3 QB's in the league, but look at the other successful QB's in the league...look at the super bowl winning teams and the type of offenses they run.
Not only do they have less passing attempts...they focus on running the ball and clock management. Look at the guy who won last year. An offense driven by the run. Rothlisberger won a damn superbowl! Look at the Patriots, another offense that relies heavily on the run, but has more of a balanced style attack because Brady is that good. The running game opens up opportunities for the QB regardless of his abilities and takes pressure off the player.
All I am saying is good teams adjust to the players on their rosters and the teams they go to battle with. Why have McNabb throw so much when we all know he's not the most accurate. Why throw so much when every team knows we are pass happy and McNabb has the tendancy to hold onto the ball too long. Why throw so much when he can get happy feet when pressured. Why havn't they adjusted to keep defenses honest...McNabb has been a piece of meat that past two seasons due to the obvious pass happy playcalling.

Hopefully bad. Not to mention that he had Donovan throw it to the OTHER TEAM.
But seriously, I just don't get the play call. And I really don't get the signing of Jeff Garcia.
the throw was really really bad...it has to go in the receivers hands or in the front row of the stands
but that was one of the worst calls ever....you run the ball and even if you dont make it (very unlikely) then you run it again on 4th down and even if you dont make that (super unlikely) then you have them pinned on their goal line
what was really sad was andy thought he was so tricky bringing in nik cole as a fb on the play and then passes it...like andy reid is gonna fool anyone into thinking hes gonna run the ball...hello idiot dont you think the whole world much less jim schwartz knows what youre all about
what was really funny was 3rd and 1 on the goaline with a huge qb they pass and have it intercepted and then later in the game on 3rd and 1 with a small qb they qb sneak and get it
just baffling
The sneak with Garcia was pathetic. Did he actually make any forward progress there, or was it just a generous spot?
thats irrelevant
the point is andy reid is a clueless game coach
Since I'm assuming it was his decision to sign Garcia, I don't think his cluelessness stops on the field.
marty = garcia imo
but again doesnt matter as this team cant win with donovan so who really cares who the back up is
i am just furious at the front seven they have built on defense...its a joke
i just dont get how two profeesional football coaches (reid and jj) expect to have a competant defense with matt mccoy and dhani jones as your lb's...how come i know they cant play but they dont...it defys logic
and not replacing hollis with another run stuffer was a huge gaffe as well
watch the henry touchdown run and check how far the d tackles got blow off the LOS...ive never seen anything like it

that would be hot and my boy digs would be happy cause he has a eagles throwback jersey with iversons name and number on it
If he didn't buy it in the parking lot off of a nervous-looking young man, it doesn't count.
The good news is that I don't think Rod would have made the difference between winning and losing yesterday.
Unless he can play QB.
Because if I haven't mentioned it clearly enough, Garcia is an old, skiddish, noodle-armed smudge of donkey diarrhea.

Absolutely infuriating.
In my almost 20 years of following this team, I can't remember getting much more heated than I was after watching that bullshtein.
The absolute dumbest single call Andy reid has ever made here. How farging sad is it that even at the motherfarging 1/2 yard line... our farging coach STILL can't resist the urge to throw the damn ball.
Of all the things that pissed me off about that game... from the zesty tackling... to the non-existent run defense... to McNabb blowing out his knee... to overall losing to the motherfarging Titans... that playcall farged with me more than any of them combined... and still does.
With the ball sitting inside the 1 yard line:
1. The biggest o-line in the NFL - rendered useless
2. A 240lb QB for purposes of a QB sneak- rendered useless
3. A 350lb lead blocker - rendered useless
4. The "power back" Buckhalter - rendered useless
Again... Andy teased us all with that farging "power" formation... yet he proved again that he just doesn't understand the importance of running the ball.
The ENTIRE time before that snap... I was saying, "there is NO WAY that this play should be anything other than a QB sneak." Even handing the ball to Westbrook or Buck was more complicated, leaving more room for something to go wrong. If it came to that, I could have lived with handing the ball off to Westbrook/Buck two times and being turned away. At least I would have known that Andy realized that you HAVE to run the ball in that situation. But seeing that motherfarger try to get cute and throw the ball AGAIN (coupled with one of the worst throws I've ever seen McNabb make) was just too much to take.
That play was a microcosm of exactly what the hell is wrong with Andy Reid's offensive philosophy. This shtein needs to stop... and it needs to stop before the QB who represents our best chance at a Super Bowl is 40 years old.
Get him the farg outta here.

HERE HERE! :yay :bow
First, let me say that I agree that a run would have been the right way to go. If you expect to be a good team, you need to be able to get those short yards, especially when the other team knows that you're running. If you can't power ahead for that first down (or score), you don't deserve to win anything.
That said, I will also say that the play call was good on that play. The play action drew in most of the coverage, and LJ was pretty wide open. Runyan was on DNL explaining that they didn't do a good enough job selling the run, so the LBs weren't all fooled. Regardless, had McNabb thrown the ball with more of an arc, it would have been a TD, and there would be no bitching about that play at all.

youre arguing against yourself sus...you cant say it was a good call and then say it was a bad pass or the play wasnt run properly...the reason it was a bad call is precisely because those things you describe can happen when you throw the ball...passing the ball is is much lower % play than running exactly because so many things can prevent the play from being successful
it was a brutally bad call sent in by a pathetic coach
The line didn't do a good enough job selling the run? Is he f'ing serious??
Come on, Big Jon. The Eagles don't run the ball with any sort of conviction, and even when they do, it's for no other reason than to set up yet another pass. I appreciate Runyan trying to take the responsibility for a failed play but when the play is doomed to failure because of a flawed overall philosophy to begin with, no amount of "selling" on the o-line's part is going to work.
perhaps a draw play there would have fooled the defense
I agree with Feva, that was one of the most infuriating playcalls that I have seen in my 17 years as an Eagles fan. I didn't think it could be anything but a sneak on that play. It was definately a bad pass by McNabb, but he shouldn't have even been throwing in that situation.

I think a run play there would have fooled them too. :-\
I also agree about the goal line nonsense. Even more so because just a couple weeks back Baldinger or some other talking head threw out a stat that McNabb was like 23 of 24 on QB sneaks for a yard in his career. sickening.
a qb sneak is almost instinctual at that point...he had to do it just because he wanted to show how smart he was and just let everyone know that he was in charge
he had to do it just because he wanted to show how smart he was
yep thats why nik cole was in the game...to sell the run even more by putting a lineman back there....so sneaky....and then SHOCK! everyone with a pass play...
what an IDIOT

I love Big John... but he's full of shtein on this one and he's missing the point. The point is... there should be no "selling" in the first place. This team and coach shouldn't be trying to "fool" anyone for 1/2 yard. Again... a 240lb QB should be able to pick that up behind the biggest O-line in the NFL against one of the worst defenses in the league. The LAST thing you need in that situation is a turnover so you should do everything you can to minimize the chances of it happening. If they stopped us on 3rd (and then 4th) down... fine... good for them, but they're pinned back inside their own 1 yard line... which creates positive opportunities for the defense.
Even if we had got a TD on that pass... of course we would all be happy they scored... but it wouldn't change the fact that Andy's philosophy is flawed. He still opted for the play that has a lower chance for success.
Andy simply tried to outsmart the Titans instead of using his personell's strengths and it blew up in all of our faces. There's no excuse for the stupidity of that call.
Reminds me of the old quote... There are 3 things that can happen when you pass, and 2 of them are bad.
I'm not surprised he called a pass play in fact I said out loud, watch he's going to pass. How many times this year and last have we watched 3rd and short being blown by a pass play. It common fargin sense on 3rd and inches to QB sneak! I can understand on 3rd and 3 and under, MAYBE everynow and then, attempt a pass. His playcalling is absolutely predictable.
Reminds me of the old quote... There are 3 things that can happen when you pass, and 2 of them are bad.
i always wondered about this tho because when you run you can:
1. lose yardage
2. gain yardage
3. fumble
Luckily we don't ever have to worry about this team running.

heh, yeah I agree I have also wondered... because when you pass you could also be sacked, the WR could fumble, intentional grounding etc.
You get yards
You don't get yards
You lose the ball
I think sacks are covered by the middle one there.
