From Spadaro:
QuoteWords don't mean anything this week. Sunday is the only action that matters, so we will learn much, much more about the Eagles from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday than we knew before.
Ha! The game will probably end at 4:15, so he's sneakily setting them up for another last-minute failure.
27-17 if the Eagles win
17-14 if they don't. (And guess when the last 3 points will be scored :boom)
I thnik they have a better chance this game then originally thought. Byron is hurt and looking like crap, and so is thier top (white) WR. Just gotta shut down Fred Taylor/Jones-Drew.
The guy behind those two on the depth chart went to/played for my High School...Owens. I think he's returning punts for them right now. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
Oh...Andy Reid, run the ball. At least as much as you did this past Sunday. Same with you, McNabb.
Leftwich is hurting. But if he plays he is immobile, even moreso now because of the bum ankle, and it takes him forever to wind up to throw a pass. There is no acceptable reason why the Eagles should not have at least 5 sacks on Sunday.
They lost their MLB recently too. Peterson is a big loss. I believe they are starting a rookie now (Clint Ingram - a player who I liked coming outta college) at SLB, Darryl Smith at MLB and Nick Griesen at WLB.
Rashean Mathis is a ballhawk. Stay away from the right side of the field. Go after Brian Williams on the left or use the slots - just keep the ball away from Mathis.
Matt Jones is likely out too.
that's funny

No way they lose to a struggling Jacksonville team who got killed by of all teams Houston. They (Eagles) have something to prove going into this weeks game. Of course I'd like to see a healthy dose of Westy, Buck and Moats first and foremost. Followed by alot of looks to LJ this week and Westy for passes. The occasional deep ball to Reggie. Def stay away from Mathis, he's the kind of DB that eats QB's for breakfast. I'm not worried about giving up the big pass becasue Leftwich is hurting and the back-up has no chance. Only concern is the run game. I think this is a game where our O-line needs to step it up. They got some killer DT's.

Just another case of the Black Man keeping whitey down......
Good. I hate whitey anyway. He's like, white and stuff.
Jacksonville should be quite fired up for this game though given the beating they just took at the hands of Houston so I don't really care who's out for them or how banged up Leftwich is. That mofo lead his team to victory on a broken friggin leg in college so I know he's one tough sumbitch.
Obviously, Jax isn't looking nearly as dominant as they did against Pitt a few weeks ago so that does bode well for the Eagles but I simply can't lean one way or the other when it comes to knowing (or even thinking I know) if the Eagles are going to win this game or not.
On paper, there is no reason why they shouldn't. But there's no reason they should have lost to the Giants or Bucs either......and quite possibly the Saints and yet they managed to steal defeat from the jaws of victory in all 3 games.
So this week, and probably for the rest of the season I am simply going to sit back, watch the game and consume unthinkable amounts of alcholol.
Bottom line:
Jacksonville never had that great of an offense to begin with and their defense is just average now with like 4/5 of their best defenders banged up.
There is no reason the Eagles shouldn't win and convincingly on sunday. But with this team you never know. Someone will fumble the opening kickoff and the Jags will geta TD go up 7-0 and suck the life out of us early. The Eagles will come out fired up though loaded for bearz.

Nah, I'm just saying that the guy's a good QB who's already had his share of success in this league... long wind-up and all. He's not some scrub who can't really hurt us if we can't get to him and like Sun said... he's shown his toughness in many games before so I don't think his ankle would stop him from making a play if/when he has to.
And I think mussa is really undersetimating him by saying that we don't have to worry about the "big" pass, or any pas for that matter... especially when we've been inconsistent as hell at defending it.
I'm going to predict losses until they prove me wrong. Let's see how long that works out.
And if they win, I'll still predict losses. fargers punched me in the gut three times already this year, I'm not gonna get caught out with high hopes again.

QuoteDel Rio says QB Leftwich still hurting, gets Garrard ready
Oct. 25, 2006
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio has changed his stance again, saying quarterback Byron Leftwich's sore left ankle was indeed a problem in last week's loss to Houston.
He even decided to have Leftwich and backup David Garrard split repetitions in practice Wednesday.
"There was no question based on what I saw that there was a problem," Del Rio said Wednesday, reversing his opinion from two days earlier. "He's a proud guy, he's a tough guy, but we've got to find a way to communicate so I can do the right thing for our football team.
"Basically, it was a situation where he really tried to go and wanted to go and I believe for the right reasons. But it didn't go well."
Leftwich misfired badly in a 27-7 loss at Houston. He finished 14-of-28 for 125 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
Del Rio said after the game that Leftwich's ankle must have been an issue and acknowledged that he considered benching his starter in favor of Garrard.
David Garrard is ready to play if called upon. (Getty Images)
On Monday, Del Rio reversed field after watching video of the game and said the ankle didn't appear to be a problem. But after speaking with reporters, he decided to watch the video again, focusing solely on Leftwich's footwork, throwing motion and followthrough.
Now, Del Rio firmly believes Leftwich's injury caused his poor performance.
Del Rio met with Leftwich on Tuesday, reviewed some plays and discussed the entire situation.
Does Leftwich agree?
"Does it matter, really? It doesn't matter," said Leftwich, who was listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Philadelphia. "I missed a few balls, but I don't think my ankle had anything to do with it. That's just my opinion."
Leftwich disclosed Wednesday that he initially injured his ankle Oct. 1 at Washington. It flared up nearly two weeks later, five days after he took every snap in a 41-0 drubbing of the New York Jets.
Despite missing a practice, Leftwich convinced coaches he could play against the Texans.
"See, the thing is I've been worse off with all the injuries I've had in my life," Leftwich said. "I've been worse off than I was last Sunday. I don't want to put not having a great game on my ankle. I did feel it sometimes during the game, but I've played through worse things than that. I've been in more pain than that and played in football games before, so I will not allow myself that excuse."
Del Rio blamed himself, Leftwich, trainers and his assistant coaches for a communication breakdown that resulted in Leftwich playing and then staying in the game when he probably shouldn't have.
"I want to empower my guys to speak up," Del Rio. "I don't want to hear about it Monday. Don't share those great ideas with your neighbor Sunday night. Bring all the good ideas to me, where I have a chance to make a decision. I need that information."
The latest information on the ankle injury is that it had nothing to do with last year's broken bone, which forced Leftwich to miss five games. The Jaguars (3-3) said there was no break and no ligament damage.
"It's something totally new," Leftwich said. "Everybody's going to say it's something from last year. Believe me, it's not. If it was something from last year, I couldn't play. It has nothing to do with last year. It was something that crept up in the taterskins game, something totally different. I've been able to play with it, play with it, play with it. I woke up that one Friday and that's when it took a turn for the worst. But it was just that one day. Hopefully, it will continue to get better."
I can't believe Leftwich would do that. Reminds me of McNabb trying to mask his broken ankle, only McNabb threw four TDs.
Eagles will play this game much like they did against Tampa Bay, hopefully with better results.
I don't see a lot of sacks this game unless they come on 3rd down. Jaguars will try running most of the time on 1st and 2nd downs. Eagles will dial up the blitz on 3rd and long. Eagles played for the run last week and only got two sacks, wouldn't expect more than that this week.
If the Eagles by chance get a lot of 3rd and longs all bets are off on the sacks though. If Leftwich does play on his bum ankle he will be severly limited in his mobility. Leftwich takes a long time before he finally reads the defenses and throws the ball as a norm. This will allow the Eagles make Leftwich wish he stayed back in Jacksonville.
Eagles should be able to get short passes out to Westbrook or LJ. Of course they will also take their shots downfield as well. Don't think we will see much of a run game this week. You never know though. This game will tell if AR was serious about commiting more to the run game this off season or not. The first week of the season Reid dialed up the run 30 times but hasn't come close to that again until week 7 when the Eagles ran the ball 27 times. IMO the lack of the run game has more to with Westbrooks injury as AR wanting to keep his run reps down.
Westbrooks knee injury seems to be coming along just fine and we saw AR run the ball more.

YEah, Montel is the one from my high school. I wasn't sure if he was the one returning punts or not because I know they had him (Montel) back on kick returns with Jones-Drew, at least on the play I saw he was. Apparently he recovered an onsides kick earlier this yaer or something. But it's cool to see someone from around here get to the NFL, especially to make the team as an UDFA. He graduated the same year as my brother I think, or a year behind him, who was the QB for the team. He went back to visit my high school a couple of weeks ago, I think when JAX was on bye?

yeah, cause the birds eat up second string QB's. baffle them, confuse them, get inside their head, force them to do stupid things, etc. ::) Damm, remember how many people on this board were pimping Gradkowski? He would have been a cult hero in Philly, even as a third stringer.
And yes, Jags backup is very good. Garrard(Depadeau)has always done well when he is called upon.

Elaborate??
An Eagles f-up in a situation that is normally only seen every 10 years in the NFL.
*forgot you could only follow via net*
Ok, they just explained it, but they should have some protection for punters that get mauled like that consider all the babying they do for QBs.
Thanks GF.
The defensive line finally made it to the stadium. Two stops against the run in a row.
This is the first time I listened to Mike Quick on the radio in awhile. I didn't realize he sounded so drunk.
And Dawkins whiffs on a hit on Garrard.
QB outruns Howard, spins off of Dawkins, gets just enough for the first down.
TVU kept crashing on me, so I'm listening to the game again this week. From the way things are going today, maybe it's for the best I don't get to see it.
Tito with the hip tackle on that pass.
Seriously, this team farging sucks. They really need to get their shtein together.
What's the D-line sucking all of a sudden. They were great for a few games now they can't do shtein.
Reid needs to look into this "lead blocker" gimmick teams keep trying against this defense.

3rd and ten, Westbrook up the middle for 4 with no lead blocker. Boos getting louder.
McNabb looks like crap on GameCenter. How does he look on TV?
Only one more quarter of ineptitude before the Eagles start playing.
So, pass on first and 2nd down and get nothing, and then run on 3rd and 10.

Sheldon blows the tackle. Nobody else catches up to Taylor, and he dives for the first down. Probably.
They need some serious shakeups after this season. The ineptitude of this team is farging outstanding. Sheldon is made to look silly on the tackle.
Another missed tackle, McCoy cleans it up.
And again no pressure from the line... fumble... Eagles ball... shocking.
Drew fumbles. Eagles recover.
Fumble Eagles recover yeah
If anyone is interested that Link that Phreak put up is showing the game. Its about a minute delayed.
The link is in the "ongoing who gets the game" thread around page 7 or 8.
Is it bad that I'm not excited about that because I now fully expect the O to go 3 and out... again.
The defense steps up and makes a play.
Too bad Reid won't run the ball on first down. And if he does, it will be a toss play, with our 330 pound+ linemen.

D finally realizes they're allowed to pick up the football if the other team drops it.
Holy shtein the Eagles recovered a fumble!

You should have seen the play. A huge run up the gut formation... Schoebel in motion to the left. Snap... shoebel runs up the field, the line blocks down to the right, McNabb bootlegs to the left... right to the untouched Jags defend... manages to elude him, then tackled for a sack by the rookie LB. It was a thing of beauty. ::)
Worst playcalling I've ever seen.
At least Stallworth's playing.
I think I'm just going to stop caring until Andy Reid figures out that it's time to run the ball when the pass isn't working, not time to keep passing.

14 yard pickup for Taylor. Even he's disgusted with this defense.

You can't blame Reid for that. How is he supposed to know it gets windy in Philadelphia when fall rolls around?
It can be in the middle of June and its windy down there. Its always windy down there.
Please get it going offense. I cannot take another loss. Especially heading into a bye. So in the best interest of my mental health, please get it going Andy and Donovan.

26 dropped passes. Most in the NFL.

I don't care if he has a few good TD receptions. He drops so many easy balls. He has such crappy hands.

Andy has no confidence in his offense. He's looking to win this game 10-7 if need be. Maybe get a lucky TD by the D and a FG that barely clears the uprights by Akers. That's all that we can ask for today.
This team is a farging joke. An absolute joke. From the head coach all the way down. farg 'em.

I dont understand how the players dont even give a shtein. If I was a 330 pound dude like Jackson or Andrews, or if I was mentally ill like McCoy I would KILL somebody.
The big guys are always laid back. McCoy is just as sucktastic as everyone else.
What's worse is when you have talent, and squander it.
They Eagles have talent, but they play like shtein. That is more disappointing.
I rather have a team of retards that plays hard every week than a bunch of players who have talent but play like a bunch of farg tards.
They stopped the run on 3rd down. It was idiot #2.
Game. Over.
Can't man up.
And now Dhani has given up as well.
The wide recievers are not very good.
The d-line hasnt gotten consistent pressure for weeks.
The linebackers are horrible and the d-backs are mediocre.
^^^^all caused by the Eagles not caring
Finally they make a play.
They're lucky the QB didn't throw that away.
10-0. An insurmountable lead the way they're playing right now.
FG Good. Jags 10 Bums 0
10-0
Ten more points than the Eagles will score today.
San Fran has a better chance of coming back to beat Chicago than the Eagles have of winning this game.
this game is unbearable .......
This is a farging joke. Amazing it's only 7-0. Exposed is a farging understatement.
workout tip? I went to 24 hour Fitness this morning, turned the TV on to the game and had the best cardio workout I've had in months. More I watched this shtein the faster I peddled and sprinted. I should have stayed at the gym.
10-0. Swell.
One more three and out and I'll probably turn it off again this week. I actually wish I could be upset about the way they're playing.

his receivers just aren't getting open, though. so they deserve plenty of blame.
Batted down.
With just over 4 minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Eagles just made their first completion to a WR.
Buckhalter tackled by the Sho Boat.
I can't wait to see this team get blown out by Mark Brunell and Tony Romo lead teams.
Greggie with the catch on 3rd and 4 for a first down. I'd still rather see a run.
Aww, the defense wasn't set. Those poor guys.
High snap to McNabb. Those years of catching dog toys finally paid off!
Kosar gets three on the scramble after eluding the sack.
Reggie stonehands another one.
Reese: "Let's see if he comes over and kicks the flag."
Quick: "Did he go to Miami?"
Forget benching the guy...farging cut him.
Screen to Westbrook. Almost stopped in the backfield, 4 yard gain. Flag against the Eagles. Westbrook is limping. Penalty declined, 4th down. Here comes Akers.
Kick is good. Woo.
Jags 10 Bums 3
Not good enough, bastiches.
3 points in three points....Westy got absolutely pounded on that last run. I bet he hurts all over!

They've played fairly well all game despite being given horrible field position by the offense. Having said that, it's about time for them to stay on the field for the next 7 or 8 minutes before surrendering some more points.
Again: The Eagles almost NEVER make the tackle on the first hit. Awful.
Westbrook's getting his left foot looked at.
Drew for another big run. First down Jags.
This D line is being man-handled.
Dawkins makes a tackle, gets into a scuffle.
I'm glad they stopped the game for that. Jesus.

Joe Jurevicious Matt Jones striding through the middle of the field.

Pathetic. 6 missed tackles on that run.
I bet we still wont sign anybody of significance in the offseason.
I already made it clear that they had to win this game to have any chance at 10-6.
A loss means 9-7 if they're damn lucky. A 9-7 team has never won the Super Bowl. So, yes. Season over.

Sad to say the Giants game has actually been entertaining. I doubt I'll even watch the recording of this mess.
I can't believe they punted the ball when the Eagles have been RIPPED UP in the run all day. Yeah, lets give it to the Defense who can't stop someone from running the ball.
So it looks like we're currently enduring a month-long stretch in the middle of the season during which the Eagles have 0 wins.

This team's won a lot of the time inspite of Reid, not because of him. Let's not forget that for a while the Defense was stellar too and helped the team win by keeping scores low. Now the D sucks and the O, while able to throw well when everything works to perfection, can't grind out the clock with a decent running game because Reid doesn't want to run the ball.
I'm dying to see what a new coach could do with this team, but I have the feeling that by the time a new coach comes in McNabb will be all used up (Westbrook too) and the team will have to start over again with nothing.

Although I cant really blame McNabb because of the really high winds, if he hits Reggie for that bomb TD, the Eagles would have tied it with 30 seconds left or whatever it was.

Maybe. Considering they lost by 7, and the momentum probably would have swung the Eagles way. Even though when the Eagles finally drove down the field and kicked a FG, the Jags just ran the ball 150 plays in a row.

There were a dozen "almosts" that could have changed this game.
If Brown (or any WR) could catch any of three balls that hit him near the hands.
If the defense could actually tackle the runner/qb on the first contact... or the second... or the thrid.
If Big Reid would actually run on 1st down - in the first quarter.
If McNabb would actually listen to his instincts and run when there's no one open in his first or second read. He took several tough sacks just trying to wait for a WR to come open.
The point is, none of this is happening - for three games.
Can't blame injuries. Or TO. Right now this is a very
mediocre BAD football team. They're getting beat on offense, on defense, on special teams - and because of a lack of discipline.

McNabb played bad today, but I can't say awful. He was put in the worst position to succeed. Andy and Mart did nothing to help him today. Dreadful playcalling, dreadful execution from teammates and poor blocking in chunks. It was good in chiunks and bad in chunks. It got better as the game went along, but doesn't matter. I don't blame the defensive scheme. They're in the right place mostly, but the bum players aren't tackling anybody.
The tackling is a major issue.
They rarely get the fargers down at first contact. How many times did we see Taylor and Drew drag guys today? Or simply truck guys?
They are out of position a lot too. On that goddamn TD run by Taylor Darwin Walker was WAY out of position.
And on that pass play to Matt Jones Dawkins and Tito blew the coverage.
But mostly it is tackling.

That looked to be 90% Dawkins' fault.
And yes.
The Run D has always been horrible under JJ.
But now, the secondary blows in coverage, too. Plus, the D line is getting no pressure at all. Poor, poor performance.
Like I just said in the other thread...
Trotter had 2 tackles and 1 assist.
Piss poor performance. Inexcusable and horrible job by the MLB when a team is running that much. Terrible job by Trotter.
Trotter wasn't the only one blown up all day though. McCoy was consistently blown up by their O line and FB.
Jags always had a body on someone. The running lanes were gigantic. It was like watching a college football game. The tackling just compounds the problem. I don't think one person made a nice open field tackle or stopped someone dead in their tracks.
Major yards after first contact today.

They had a nice end zone view on Taylor's TD run where you can see Trotter going in the TOTAL opposite direction that Taylor was going. He was part of the reason that hole was 18 feet wide. McCoy getting his ass blown up by the FB didn't help either.
a halfway decent team would have won that game by probably 21 or 28 points. the eagles really should not have even been close enough in the fourth quarter to try an onside kick. better teams would have destroyed today. the jaguars just absolutely blow.... and we STILL made them look like a real nfl team.

So the Eagles game is on in St. Louis this week, which is rare. Plus, it's a beautiful day today hovering around 70 degrees, and Phanatics daughters birthday party is at a nice park. No problem -- I Tivo the game so I can watch it when I get home.
8 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter, and what happens? They switch from the game to the friggin St. Louis parade going on downtown. Live coverage of the god damned parade!
Of course, knowing now what I (didn't) miss, I'm really not too upset about it.
I'm sure the parade was more entertaining than that game.

Why? Because of that one play where Taylor outran him? I thought Dawkins had a real solid game. ???
Dawkins also got shook out of his jock by Garrard on one of his early scrambles for a first down.
And blew the coverage on Jones' long 3rd down conv.
Watching that game and then watching the Indy/Broncos game that proceeded it was depressing as hell.
Manning basically hit every receiver in stride, had full command of the offense, and knew exactly where everyone was on the field at every moment.
It was like watching Joe Montana at his peak shredding a defense to pieces.
As for the Eagles, what really needs to be said? The defense was obliterated at the point of attack all game long and the Jaguars basically beat the living shtein out of the Birds on the line of scrimmage. Whenever the Jaguars needed tough yards, they got them. They didn't have much success throwing the ball, yet somehow, when they needed a catch, someone stepped up and actually caught the ball.
On offense, there was no rhythm, no urgency, and the offensive line got destroyed when they weren't busy committing idiotic penalties or allowing an undermanned Jaguars defensive line to blast Donovan into tiny pieces.
The punt coverage team was mediocre, the kickoff coverage team was awful, the return teams sucked, and Dirk Diggler had another awful performance.
Just a complete fiasco from start to finish.
The Jaguars got manhandled last week by the Texans. Yes, that's right... the TEXANS.
SEASON OVER.
hank baskett with another O furr today
Pretty much everybody had an 0fer today. Stallworth and Brown were zesty too.
he could've laid out to try to catch that deep ball by the end zone, but that would require extra effort and the Eagles just aren't into that
hank baskett doesnt go to the ball the ball comes to hank baskett

no but hank had like zero catches...none...played a whole nfl game and had NO catches....i believe thats his third game this year with ZERO NONE ZIP catches
stop dude, he's awesome.

Did you get to see the Chargers/Rams game today? If the indy game was what passing should be about, the Chargers game was what running the ball and defense was about. I would like to think that there is a chance that Andy boy will look at the film of those 2 games, but thats just smoke up the tailpipe.
Tivoed the game as Demon said. Initially I was very angry about losing the game to the Cardinals Parade. With the way the game was going I suspected I might be happy about it. I always think that the team will wake up and make a game of it. Looks like that didn't happen on this day. The team didn't even seem prepared to play this game from what I saw. Looked like a pre season squad. Depressing.
So I treated myself to a new avatar... meh...
Can we just stab and burn this thread already?

Sometimes, it's good to not be able to out-think yourself.
its not like the eagles have a mensa member for their head coach either
The Eagles were out thunk?
one more gripe. tito gambling yesterday instead of defending...lovely. the haters of dawkins, just stop it. fred taylor was running downfield, dawkins had to stop, turn and sprint...the RB is going to win that race anytime no matter if your deangelo hall or champ. your toast.
Lito went for, and missed, three INTs yesterday instead of just breaking up the play. All three passes were caught. Two for first downs.
In addition I don't think I saw one player make a tackle on the first attempt. Jags were shedding players and getting yards after contact on every play. This defense blows ass.

I counted four times where the defense had Taylor or Drew
stopped for a loss at first contact... and they let them slip forward for positive yards. Once for
5 yards.
I knew it was a wrap when on 4th and 1 the Jags go QB sneak with Garrard and he picked up
4 yards. The D was totally getting blown off the line all day long.
Disgusting.
i don't have a problem with Lito trying to pick balls off, it was obviously the only way the Eagles were going to score a touchdown
he wiffed bad on all three. i mean a cripple could of caught those balls.
not really
Yuh huh!
hmmm...i didn't look at it from that perspective, you might be on to something
