I may be late....and I just might not stray from my normal selection enough when I go out...but I had Sam Adams Hefeinweizen the other day.......it may just be my favorite beer now. I don't know how long its been out....even the Sam Adams produces many flavors of beers...but it was my first time and god damn that was delicious. I recomend it to all of you...even if you're a recovering alcoholic...this beer is worth it for you to go back. If you're at work, take a 45 minute break and find one. Get one for your boss too so he(because females can't be boss) can give you a raise for bringing him such a good beer.
i had the Sam Adams Cream Stout the other day....got to say i was very impressed, it was quite delicious.
Hefeinweizen is pretty good, I recommend floating lemons in it if you haven't already. (Makes it 1000X better)
Lately I've been drinking a lot of Belgiun imports, mostly Hoeegarden and Chimay.
Any beer that requires some sort of fruit to make it taste better is not high on my list of things to drink.
Heif is excellent, I agree....but the Sam Adams version is great.
God I wish I worked for Sam Adams.... :drool

This past weekend I went to Santa Barbara and ordered a beer at the hotel bar...the barkeep recommended 'Fullers' from England. Great tasting beer. It's an ale. Kind of cool because they only make a limited number of beers for the year. I think mine was 55,333 out of 95,000. It felt kinda special, but not in the short yellow bus kind of way.

Creme Stout is one of my all time favorites. One of the things I hate the most about Northern Illinois is the shtein beer selection. I haven't seen Cream Stout since I moved here.
Once you go black, you never go back.
Pacifico over Corona. Always. You never see women drinking Pacifico...and if you do...marry her. Coronas are cool....but I also feel they are chickish. Too many girls drink them...makes me feel awkward sometimes. I kind of laugh when I see these tough acting motherfargers....sucking on a corona. Bitches.

Corona sucks ass, but if someone handed it to you for free with a lime in it would you:
A) Remove the lime and drink it
B) Drink it with the lime
Budweiser
If it was in a bottle I would drink it as is.
If it was in a glass I would remove the lime, find a bottle, beat the bartender with it for serving a Corona in a glass, and then drink the lime-free Corona while loudly explaining that "I would never drink this if it wasn't free."
Guinness, Murphy's or Beamish any day of the week.
Hefeinweizen is good beer. I drink the Michelob variant.

Guinness/Murphy's/Beamish (insert other delicous Stouts)
Bass/Harp
Yuengling/Red Stripe
Sam Adams/Sam Light
Miller Lite/PBR

My only problem with the CS is there is a lot of variance in the flavor. Some lots are awesome, and some are a little too bitter, without the real oomph it's supposed to have.
My favorite Sam Adams to date is The Winter Lager. I like red lagers and cream ales most. Does anyone remember Molson Redjack? I used to love that stuff when I was in high school. They discountinued it though, :'( - i just did a quick google o of redjack and not one pic showed up.
I actually enjoy a Corona everynow and then, mostly in summer. Its refreshing and easy to drink. I think a lime is a must, otherwise it not too good.

After having been stationed in Japan and most of Asia for three + years I've also kind of got a fondness for some of their beers. Kirin Ichibahn is pretty good, so is Sapporo. Thai bears like Beer Chang and Singha are the goods too. Not the kind of stuff I would say run out and get, but if you are in some joint and see them, grab one. Especially the Sapporo.

Not true. After mowing the lawn on a hot summer day, or a bitch of a work week, there is
nothing else I want to drink more than an ice cold beer while sitting on the couch. This also includes watching a game, eating a pizza/sushi/or a steak, playing poker, and watching some YO! MTV Raps.
*Edit, I will say during the teenage years and up until about twenty-two, I wasn't a big beer kind of guy. Liquor mostly, and just normally getting shteinfaced. I grew out of that, and in years since have become a huge beer fan. I will normally choose a beer over soda, or anything else when at a dinner, or hanging out.

I wouldn't say all that. I like the taste of beer. I drink beer with some foods, depending on what it is... most foods, I'll just have a soda, but with some wings in front of a game... gotta have a beer.
Good rule of thumb: Rice tastes like nothing, wheat is very flavorful.
Don't make beer with rice.
Saying people don't like the taste of beer is like shooting fish in a barrel. Too easy. Guaranteed way to get a reaction.
By the way, I have two family member off the top of my head who can't hold their booze who drink O'Douls for the taste.
I love birch beer. :paranoid
For the past five years, I have been drinking mostly Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, and various Belgian products. Agreed on Hoegaarden, it's a current favorite, and Chimay, Ommegang, and Delirium Tremens are also excellent Belgians. Victory's beers (especially Hop Devil) are also very good, as are the Old Domion products in Virginia. And, Guiness (and most stouts) is of course a staple.
Yuengling is a fallback if I'm just looking for a decent beer, but nothing really flavorful. All of the Bud, Miller, and Coors flagship products suck ass...I'll relucantly drink these at a party, if that's all they have, unless there's Captain Morgan.
Haven't had the Sam Adams Cream Stoudt yet, but will check it out based on the positive feedback on this thread.

If I want a cheap beer I'll pick up a 6 pack or two of High life tallboys.
But I drink Molson Golden regularly. That stuff is excellent.
And I love the taste of beer moreso than hard liquor.
I've been drinking Stella Artois lately because the Irish Pub in town has had it on special.
It's actually not bad at all. It takes a while to get used to the taste but overall it's not a bad tasting brew.
I also love Kirin with Japanese food. I don't know why but that shtein goes down like water when your eating sushi or a nice teriyaki steak & shrimp dinner.
As for the American slop they sell, I used to love Yuengling Black & Tan but that gives me a vile headache if I've had more than four or five of them. Same goes for the Lager also. I don't know when that started but I just can't drink it anymore. If I have to drink something American, I'll stick with Budweiser. Coors & Miller products give me the wicked shteins so they're out totally.

What's more, the taste is far better than you'd expect from the gimmick name. It's an excellent beer. Too damn expensive of course, but worth treating yourself once in a while.
I drink Guinness, Bass, or Brooklyn Lager. Once in a while some Red Stripe or Harp.
I think beer tastes wonderful. It's on a par with bacon. I can't imagine living without either of them.
If I'm going too expensive, I buy the 4 pack of Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout. That shtein should come with a knife and fork.
Kirin is also excellent, what I always get at Japanese restaurants.
Ahhh, tis the season to put back a few Killians. rarely drink it, maybe 3-5 times a year, but its always a great brew.
few other favorites, moosehead, molson canadian or golden, lancaster brew pub's amish 4 grain and goldstar pilsner, brooklyn lager, yuengling;s lord chesterfield ale is great, bass, oh the list gets longer.
i need a beer.
IGY your full of shtein. u bash on specialty beers and then say people don't actually like the taste. keep drinking your malt liquer there, ya damn redneck. ^-^
who drink O'Douls for the taste
makes sense since odouls tastes nothing like beer
Bass, Guiness, Harp, Sam are all in the winter rotation. Except when I'm trying to get lean.
In the summer, I'll still hit those...but I'll work in some cheaper, lighter beer. Man, nothing is better than an ice cold Rolling Rock after painting the house, or cutting the lawn. The Yuengling family of beer is also a pretty good choice for the price. A Corona at a BBQ can do the trick on occasion. And Bohemia and Negro Modelo is quite awesome just about anytime.
Oh, and I can't do beer in cans. No matter the quality, they always have a metallic aftertaste to me. If it's a choice between a can of beer and a can of Diet Coke...I'll do the soda far more often than not.
Agreed. I avoid beer in cans as best as I can. But the High Life tallboys are OK in them.
That's because the tinny aftertaste at least gives it SOME flavor.....
PBR Pounders. Represent
That's not beer, that's a laxative.
I drank a bunch of PBR last night. Delicious.
i had 2 icey cold coors lites with a couple of pan fried cheese burgers with barbeque sauce. yummy.
that is a good breakfast.
no, a good breakfast is a cup of cooled bacon fat with a glass of water with used coffee grounds mixed in.

I'm not a huge light beer fan. The difference between regular beer and light beer isn't that great, really. At least not enough to enjoy the beer less. In general, I don't think Amstel is bad in a pinch. Sam light isn't bad.

There are really two categories of beer. Micro and Macro. Macro is made on a large scale, doesn't have as much flavor, but is easy to find and cheaper.
When I'm drinking a Macro I usually go for Bud Select. Really goes down smooth and doesn't tear my stomach apart. After that I like Michelob products. Mich light is pretty good. Amber Bock is another macro that I really like. Reminds me of a great dark beer I had in Germany once. I don't really like Miller products. Coors is OK and I will drink them. If I have to go really cheap I'm all about sum Nat Light. They have some Natty Up with Caffeine in it. Ebil!!
Micro beers are all usually pretty good. Just matters what flavors you like. I like a good Irish stoute but it is hard to find a good micro stoute. They are usually a little to harsh for my taste. Here in St. Louis the local Micros that are very good are Schlafly, O'Fallon, and Fat Tire. Mmmm Good.
Of course I am a company man so take it all with a grain of salt.
is this the beer thread?

Haha...bumping a nearly 5 year old thread. You must be drunk.
For the record on those older posts, Amstel is light in name only.
I had "Wing Walker" Amber Ale this past weekend. Anyone else familiar with it? Where the hell have I been?
FREAKING DELICIOUS. It was cheap too. It was $6.99 for the 6-pack. It is brewed in New York if I remember.

Also still a favorite:
Kona Brewing Company's 'Pipeline Porter'. It smells great too...has a slight hint of coffee. Don Ho should know about this one.

*You have to be 21 to enter the website...WTF? I haven't seen that in a while. Idiots.
Good bump Chuggie, made me go in the kitchen and grab an ice cold Pilsner Urquell. Excellent summer beer.
Related note, life lessons learned under category DUH- if seeing a lady whose ex is a Miller exec and she promises you the few cases/kegs of product still lying around the house/garage (including Pilsner Urquell), don't break up with her until said product safely delivered. Otherwise you'll be back to having to buy your own.
Words of wisdom.
