Title: Al Harris quote on T.O.
Post by: bobbyinlondon on November 09, 2005, 12:44:28 PM
``If he needed a private jet to pick him up, I'd get it,'' Packers cornerback Al Harris told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. ``He's a hell of a player.''

He Flag Me knows first hand since TO has beaten him like a drum every time they face each other.

2001 - scores a TD on Harris in SF
2002 - scores a TD on Harris in SF
2004 - scores a TD on Harris in PHI

Joe Horn is saying he'd  love to have TO on the Saints. That if TO said something about Brooks, he'd take the 2 of them out to dinner and get it all worked out and it would never get to where it got with the Eagles.

OK, Joe. I'm sure no one on the Eagles ever thought of that.  :-D ::)

Horn would love to have TO on the Saints so he could get some tutoring on how to do great endzone celebrations.

And all season long, Trotter and Dawkins worked with TO as well.

Horn might want to re-think his thoughts that just taking them out to dinner would smooth it all over.  :-D

I love that other players commenting on Owens is somehow news. I was flipping through channels today and saw Saint farging Favre on FavreTV talking about him. Somewhere in New England twenty three ESPN executives were furiously pleasuring themselves over that.

Well the reason they're keying on Harris and Favre is that Green Bay is first in line on the waiver wire. And I think New Orleans is probably pretty close after that, thus the "need" to interview Joe Horn.

Won't matter, the NFLPA can't make the Eagles cut Owens. They think they have a right to, but they can't. The Eagles have been documenting TO's BS since AUGUST when all of this first started. They have a laundry list of reasons they can suspend him for the 4 games and the NFLPA's basis that KEyshawn wasn't suspended first before being "keyshawned" is preposterous. They have no leg to stand on.
Title: Re: Al Harris quote on T.O.
Post by: PoopyfaceMcGee on November 10, 2005, 08:40:23 AM
The main reason Keyshawn was "Keyshawned" was because the Bucs literally couldn't afford the cap hit they would have taken by cutting him.  They had no CHOICE but to keep him on the roster.  The Eagles are in no such predicament, so while it's unlikely, it's not totally out of the realm of possibility that they'll cut T.O. after the 4 games, rather than pay him and use up a roster spot on him.

keyshawn also put up zero resistance to being deactivated for 6 or 7 games.

I just began to hate vick even more:

QuoteVick says he wouldn't mind playing with T.O.
/ Associated Press
Posted: 7 hours ago

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - Michael Vick wouldn't mind having Terrell Owens line up at receiver for the Atlanta Falcons — as long as T.O. understands one thing.

"This is my team," Vick said Wednesday.

Besides, No. 7 already has provided a resounding response to those who criticize his passing numbers and deride him as nothing more than a freak of an athlete masquerading as a quarterback.

Last week, Vick completed a season-best 22-of-31 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown, with no interceptions in a 17-10 victory at Miami.

Asked if he was out to prove a point, Vick shrugged his shoulders and said, "Kind of, sort of. I just wanted to win the game. I did whatever it took to win the game. That is what it took."

Vick still ranks 26th in the league in passing efficiency, working with a group of nondescript receivers led by Brian Finneran (27 receptions, two TDs).

So, it was no surprise when the quarterback's weekly question-and-answer session quickly turned toward Owens, who was suspended by Philadelphia after an interview critical of the organization and teammate Donovan McNabb.

"I think I could play with anybody," Vick said. "It's all if they could play with me. He would have to understand my style of play and what I do. And if he can do that, he can be here. Other than that, this is my team."

Even though Owens issued a public apology Tuesday, the Eagles plan to deactivate him for the rest of the season after his four-game suspension is up.

Owens, of course, is eager to get back on the field. Though he has a home in Atlanta, he recently put the 18,000-square-foot spread on the market for $4.5 million, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

He would certainly be a major upgrade over the Falcons' current group of receivers.

Then again, T.O. has always been a major disruption in the locker room, the kind of player who could upset the tight-knit bond that coach Jim Mora has instilled in his team.

"We understand that it takes 11 guys to win a football game," Vick said. "We do not have any selfish guys on the football team. That is fine with me."

The Falcons' offense is built around the league's most effective running game, and that wouldn't change no matter who's at receiver. Much of the running is done by Vick, who gained nearly 1,000 yards last season and ranks second on the team this year with 340 yards.

"I run the ball a little bit more than other quarterbacks so, that might take away from some of his catches," Vick said, referring to Owens. "You have to be a team player when you come here."

Is he that farging stupid?

i wish mcnabb would say that!

Thats the thing, McNabb HAS said that. He's a leader on the team, either you're with him or you're not.

And stupid? What is STUPID?

That Vick can honestly think TO would conform to ANY locker room. STUPID. STUPID. STUPID.

I'd actually like to see him go to Atlanta. There'd be lines in Vegas as to how long it would take for him to go nuts on Vick for not throwing him the ball.

why would you possibly hate vick for those comments...or is it out of envy??

mcnabb has NEVER drawn a line in the sand like that before...not even close

hell say stuff like everyone looks to me to lead cause im the quarterback...or the quarterback is the leader of the team...he speaks in general terms...but even today at his presser he said hes not a rah rah type leader thats gonna get in someones face...hes the kind of guy that goes out on the field and leads by example...meaning by definition he is a leader because his position is qb...but hes not a true leader like vick showed in that piece

just because youre a good player doesnt make you a leader (see TO)

Post by: General_Failure on November 10, 2005, 05:21:31 PM
Since when does McNabb have to tell anyone it's his team?  Is there anyone that doesn't know that?

That quote doesn't make Vick a leader. It makes him a posessive little kid. The boss doesn't have to tell you he's the god damned boss.

ummm we are talking about TO here...all rules go out the window with him...vick is being proactive in that hes making it loud and clear on what to expect if and when TO comes to the team

and youre fooling yourself if you think the eagle locker room considers it mcnabbs team....again they will support mcnabb because hes the qb and they have to but theres a reason why the locker room was eerily quiet during all the attacks TO laid on mcnabb and theres a reason why many players would take TO back in a heartbeat even now...the fact that no one defended mcnabb when all this ish was going on speaks volumes...mcnabb is well liked but hes not well respected on this team
Title: Re: Al Harris quote on T.O.

Or, and I know this may be difficult for you to understand, we've got a locker room full of guys that follow the Reid/McNabb philosophy of "the press doesn't need to know."

Now I don't listen to any of the crap that passes as media these days. I know a few players have radio shows and whatnot, but I don't know what they say on them. Don't care, either. I do know that I haven't heard much of anything from the players on any of the issues that have come up. Once in a while you hear someone say "we need to run more" or "I should be paid more" but you never see someone banging a shoe on a podium with several teammates nodding in agreement behind them.

These players that say they would love to have TO on their teams are naive. They have no idea how out of control TO is. He respects nobody but himself, and gets offended by the smallest of things. Then when he gets offended he will hold a lifetime grudge against the player(regardless if he says it or not) and then he will act like a child until he gets his way.

So Joe Horn and Al Harris can talk about how much they'd love to have TO all they want, and that's fine if they want him for his talent only, but to think they can keep him under control and in check when the guy gets offended by things like "I think we can still win the SB without TO" then they just don't know what is in store.

TO would be perfect for green bay.  misery loves company.

he can go there maybe help them finish 3-13 and watch farvrah pack it in at the end of the season and be stuck with a real POS qb for the remainder of his career.  i'd do it for a high draft pick.  make it happen.

You need to expand your idea of what a leader is.  You've got to remember that 51 other players are looking to McNabb for leadership too.  The Eagles (and McNabb) have always been about "taking the high road" and keeping the focus on football.  If McNabb, lowers himself down to TO and spews venom back at TO... then the media shteinstorm only intensifies and then you have the full blown distraction you're saying that guys like Vick would be equipped to avoid.

You don't have to get in someone's face in order to be considered a great leader on a team.  You don't think that McNabb's handling of the Limbaugh bullshtein galvanized and rallied his team behind him?  You don't think they gained respect for him for pressing on the way he did?  McNabb didn't say shtein to Limbaugh... didn't call him out... yet he spoke volumes about his leadership qualities.  There's a thing called leading by example and McNabb has got that shtein down to a science.

Through all the TO's bullshtein, McNabb tried to keep himself and 51 other teammates focused on Eagles football.  If that's not a leader, I don't know what is.

I think McNabb is a good leader because regardless of what SAS writes, players have his back. you don't hear it all the time but they shouldn't have to come out and blow him all the time to appease the media and McNabb doubters. As long as they have his back in the locker room and on the field, that is all we need to worry about.

McNabb did say that he was the captain of the ship before the playoffs last year.  It's this attitude from him and the team, that they can win without TO, that started the animosity between TO and McNabb
