he didnt a life sentence but i thought he was up against more than enough years where hed die in prison...he was an elder

i take that back....i looked it up and dook was only 48....im assuming thats accurate but god damn he looked old...only thing i remember about  the whole thing was my pops wishing more republicans would pull the same stunt

If I remember correctly, since Dwyer died in office, his wife continued to receive survivor benefits.  Not saying it was the only reason for his decision, but it may have been a factor.

Additionally, I was home that day from school (I was a sophomore) - I cannot remember if I was sick or if it was a snow day, and saw that damn thing live.  I think it was channel 6 I had it on, and they showed the full thing.

EDIT:  In reading the wikipedia article, it said that the suicide wasn't shown live, but with the noon broadcast.

It was a snow day. I was working in Norristown that day, and I had to drive home via the turnpike, following the armada of snow plows a good bit of the way.
