in reality, would his being snowed into his house make any difference than if he's sitting in a roof top pool in vegas banging hookers?  no.  it won't make the plows move any faster.  it won't make the snow melt.  all it really does is show the people of pittsburgh that he's suffering with them and not partying while they are stuck in their homes with no power. 

basically, it's a leadership thing.

IGY is right. As is Dio. Wait until there's 2 feet on the ground and the plows have been through to add to the mess and you'll wish you had done the work piecemeal.
