11 foot storm surge would inundate the coast at least 5-7 miles inland.  Again, we may have avoided wind damage but the flood threat is still very real.  I'm 150 miles west of that so it will take a while for us to find out if we lost anything.  We're at a high point on the island so we have our fingers crossed.

high tide is at 1pm today so well see after that but all indications are that the flooding wont be horribly bad in central florida....the potential for disasterous widespread storm surge is jacksonville and north

The hurricane force winds are about 25 miles west of my house right now.  Power is out, trees are down and damage, so far, has been moderate.
