Broward County Deputy Sheriff Donald Harris pulled Burress over around 10:30 a.m. on March 18 for speeding on Interstate-95 near Fort Lauderdale, the Post reported. Harris opened the door of Burress' black 2008 Toyota Sequoia when the officer couldn't see inside the player's SUV.

"[Expletive] you," Burress said, according to the Post. "You can't open my [expletive] door."

Burress, who the police report said was driving like "he was going to kill somebody," was issued a $150 speeding citation, his fifth traffic ticket in Florida in the past month, the report said.

Tension Between Burress, Brafman

Free-agent receiver Plaxico Burress and his criminal defense lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, currently aren't seeing eye to eye regarding the reluctance of Burress to accept the various plea deals that Brafman has negotiated.

In fact, we're told that Burress has rejected as many as three offers from prosecutors.  Each one would have involved jail time — with Burress released by the start of training camp.

But Burress continues to decline any offer that requires him to go to prison.

And so the alternative is to stand trial, and to risk a mandatory sentence of 3.5 years if a jury finds that the scar in his leg from a bullet constitutes evidence that he was carrying a loaded an unlicensed gun.

Meanwhile, some league insiders are convinced that no team will be genuinely interested in signing Burress unless and until he gets the legal situation resolved.

Keep an eye on this one.  And don't be surprised if the lawyer eventually fires his client.

New York has reportedly shifted its focus to drafting a WR after the Browns refused to drop their asking price of a first-rounder and Mathias Kiwanuka. The Daily News says it will take "a dramatic change of heart" by Giants GM Jerry Reese for a last-minute trade. If Edwards stays a Brown, the odds of Cleveland using the No. 5 pick on Michael Crabtree significantly reduce.
