Laptops are still more expensive than desktops, take a shtein ton longer to boot, and I have a Dell M6600 laptop through work which addresses all my portability and non-porn needs.

The idea is to integrate the desktop into the entertainment center and use the television as the display.

Keep an eye out for Staples/office max/comp usa ad's.  I have a HP Desktop i bought for 300, got an HDMI card for 20 bucks, and have it setup on my 65in tv in the man cave.

Not true all factors considered, not true at all

Get a laptop with a steady state-based drive, hook it into a TV screen or large monitor if you wish. Lower power consumption, great performance, can take your pr0n on the go. Wins all around.

that is what i am trying to do in my office.  get a laptop to help with portability to job sites but when in the office use my double monitor set up with the laptop basically a keyboard

That's the set-up I have in my office. IBM ThinkPad with two 21" monitors and wireless mouse, keyboard and printer. It's pretty sweet

Decided to get this after work:

I've never thought about this until some jackass at work started running his jabberjaw...does anybody purchase additional security/anti-virus/anti-spyware programs or is what you get from the ISP good enough?

PhillyPhreak54

My mother used the McAfee offered through Comcast's internet service and it sucked.

I use Kaspersky and its pretty damn good and affordable.

Seabiscuit36

dont buy shtein from the geeksquad.  you're better off with AVG which is free.

Comcast (Xfinity!) gives me a Norton product, but I'm not sure if it offers enough protection.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Delete all the other antivirus bloatware garbage and use Kaspersky.

You get a desktop if you are a heavy gamer.  Otherwise, I don't think there's much use for them.

Have a desktop now, and it will probably be my last one.  When this one goes, it'll be a laptop.  And a recliner.

You could get a cheapass netbook and hook it up to a tv, as long as it has a DVI or VGA port.

I hated Kaspersky, my computer ran slow as shtein and I had to have someone fix it because it had a virus. I use Avira anti-virus, which is 100% free. Been using it for 3 years, never had a problem with it aside from the stupid pop ups advertising their premium protection package.

Seabiscuit36

Avira doesnt protect you from Russians stealing your desktops though
