I'd have a lot more respect for him if he was spending this time to grieve with his family.

I'm an eagles fan and him leaving for any extended period of time would be chaos for the team that I root for, but the fact that he's back at work right now makes me sick to my stomach from a human perspective. He's got money a wife and four kids. Get your farging priorities in order you fat tub of shtein.

Geez man, thats cold.

Eagaholic

Yeah, that's a little over the top hating. Factually it's true he has money, kids and a wife, but none of us knows what he and his family is going through and how he's arrived at his decisions. For all we know they told him he should get back to the team now, and we don't know if he will be taking extra time off during the next week(s) to be at home. It is just too hard to make assumptions, and especially to judge Reid as guilty of things we really don't know anything about.

Sgt PSN

Yep.  Besides, the family is dealing with death, not a family illness or some other crisis that requires his full focus and attention.  Whether he's at home or at work, nothing is changing the fact that his kid is gone.  Hell, if I were in his shoes, I'd probably want to spend the least amount of time in the house as I could right now.  Too many reminders.

Rome

If Reid was a farging coal miner with a stack of bills to pay and children to feed no one would think twice about him going right back to work, but because he's a football coach he's supposed to stay at home with his wife and children and cry all day and night.    Yeah, I'll pass, thanks.

Seconded.

Or maybe it's just that he barely knew the kid due to the fact he's been a coach at the professional level for his kid's entire lives. It's entirely possible that for all intents he's the definition of an absentee father and the death doesn't register for him like it might the average Joe. He lives his job, not his family. This is pretty much the case of every NFL coach.

How can you judge how someone grieves?
Quote"We all know the correct reaction is 3.5 days off of work, plus 1 family meeting minimum! Followed by refusing to discuss the situation at all press conferences. Also, people who feel sorry for other people with dead kids are sheeple. True thinkers reject the grief-est conformism movement and recognize that since we all have a better life outlook than we used to you should be rationally accepting of when children die."
Man what a bunch of haters.

You've all got issues. Here's hoping each of you, and Reid as well, die of heart attacks.

No one would think twice because the coal miner doesn't have the option of taking time to grieve and be with his family. Passing up that opportunity speaks volumes about Reid's priorities. But hey we already discussed the fact the he's an awful father five years ago when two of his sons ended up in jail for being farging douchebags. This isn't a new development. You spend 90 hours a week at work and sleep at the office and you've made your decision and you can pretty much assume that your kids are farged.

Well, first, that kid didn't die because Andy is a workaholic.  He died because he was a hopeless addict who was too weak to ween himself off the dope once and for all.  It happens in rich, middle class & poor families.  It happens with attentive parents and with every conceivable combination of parental support or lack thereof.  Plus he was 29 years old.  At what point does a grown ass man stop acting like a child?

As for Andy coming back to work, what exactly would you like him to do?  Stay at home with his wife and other children and wet-nurse them through their grief?  I guess he could.  He's chosen to get back with his team and maybe that's what his wife and kids encouraged him to do.  We really don't know, do we?  I think ripping the guy for choosing this course is ridiculous, though.  Just awful in fact because in all truthfulness it's probably what I would do as well.  Christ - he lost his kid.  There's no escaping that whether he's at home or at the office.

Nobody can tell another man how to grieve. Period. That simple. Why the farg is this even a discussion?
