That is a farging steal for a young player of his caliber. When I saw we got him I thought we traded a late 1st and a 2nd at least

#6 - Flyers pick 6'3", 207 lbs RW Porter Martone of the OHL.  Briere said he loves the combination of skill and physicality.

Apparently, he was a Flyers fan growing up.  Said his favorites were Giroux and Simmonds.

#12 - Flyers trade 22 and 31 to Pittsburgh to move up.

Pick is Jack Nesbitt, 6'5" Center.  From what I heard, he has obvious size and "grit," elite pick skills, but needs work on his skating.

Would have preferred Hagens but no complaints with the Martone pick. The Nesbit pick is a farging head scratcher. Briere even said lastnight his ceiling is a 2C...you don't trade two 1sts for a potential 2C 3 or 4 years from now. Why not just trade the two 1sts to a team with a young center. They get tunnel vision for players they like (Luchanco/Bonk) and reach for them. It's farging amazing the last 50 years they haven't won shtein and they're still obsessed with size and "grit". The "he plays flyers hockey" mentality is beyond stupid.

Took RW Shane Vansaghi with pick 48. 6'3 212 lbs

They valued size over skill

"You can't teach size" gfy

Yeah, they went mostly with big guys in this graft:

I can't pretend to know more about these picks than anyone off the street, let alone people paid to GM a hockey team, but the online consensus from those that follow more than me seems to be that other than Martone at 6 and possibly Amico at 38, they reached a bit for the rest.

It'll be interesting to see what the team does next year.  I can't say I'm overly hopeful.

Amico might have been a top 15 pick if he wasn't so injury prone. Zero problems with taking a 6'6 dman. My favorite pick was Murtagh who was projected as a late 1st. He has a ton of untapped potential.
