the pirates have an excess of young infielders, so castro was expendable. he really shouldnt be a switch hitter with his splits, unplayable against RHP (.464 OPS) but destroys LHP (.906 OPS with 6 bombs in 93 ABs). hes always been an infielder but i wonder if they think he can handle LF? this has potential to be a really good trade, though id like to see stott still play against LHP with castro either in lf or 3b instead of sosa.

controllable SP is worth an enormous amount in the game today and falter is a controllable SP. hes not really good but he can eat innings and the pirates probably think they can turn him into a back end starter. good luck.

Stott being protected against LHP is annoying. He needs to play every day.

Also Castro is the dude who was suspended a game last season because his iPhone fell out of his pocket when running the bases during a game.

Good point by Ricky B. as hat was a long ass top of the sixth and Wheeler was in the dugout a long time and of course mop top almost shteins and misses the bedpan.
