Vegas hired Chip for $6M per year

He lasted 11 games

PIT cut Slay

Not sure if I'd want him back despite Ringo and others playing like shtein

I'd take him back. Low cap hit, knows the defense, better than what they have, adds some much needed swagger

QuoteSources: Former Steelers and Eagles CB Darius Slay got claimed today on waivers by the Buffalo Bills.

Slay now goes from playing against the Bills last week to being a part of that team this week.

Supposedly he wants to come back and the birds want him back so translation free me from waivers:

QuoteBreaking: Veteran CB Darius Slay, whom the Buffalo Bills claimed on waivers Thursday, is unsure if he wants to continue playing and will not be reporting to Buffalo.

"Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him, but he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing," Slay's agent, Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN.

I don't see Beane making a claim just to let him go when he says "I want Philly."

More I think about this, weirder it looks.

Buffalo cut a DB to make room for him.  The DB they cut was claimed off waivers.

So now Beane has no Slay and no backup DB.

It would appear that he was truly surprised by Slay's reluctance to play for Buffalo.  I find it incredible they couldn't imagine that maybe Slay was trying to get to Philly, and/or maybe Slay might opt to retire if he couldn't get there?  Would a phone call to Drew not have helped to clarify that?

"Hey Drew, it's Beane.  If we win a waiver claim for Slay, will he play for us?"

"Philly or retirement, bro."

"Okay, we'll claim him and drop a guy we like.  Then cry about it and claim a guy from Washington to replace the guy we lost. Thanks."

Valid point.

He should've called Rosenhaus

On birds huddle the other night Barrett/avant were saying agents usually make it known not to pick up their guy on waivers because they don't want to play for that team and most teams abide by that but the bills made room for slay anyway. They commented it was especially odd on buffalos part considering rosenhaus is his agent.
