Not the athletes.   The rest of it is a two week long soft drink commercial.  The IOC is crooked as farg, dude.  They only thing worse is NBC's hideously uber-partisan coverage and non-stop pimping of the "greatness" of the games themselves.  It's nauseating. 

I've watched soccer, basketball, archery and swimming this week.  All very enjoyable.

I can't blame NBC too much for that because that's exactly what most Americans want. People are too braindead to enjoy the incredible achievements of someone who speaks some other language and doesn't cry for the Stars and Stripes. If they start focusing on some Russian or Kenyan or Korean, people are tuning the farg out.

I don't mind the coverage being focused on Americans, especially on NBC.  I mind the cheerleading and borderline jingoism on display.

niche sports that most folks only (barely) care about every 4 years...that's exactly what nbc should be doing.  all usa all the time or there better be a damn good back story on an athlete from another country to get me to care.   

give me a touching back story on some hungarian fencer & i might stick it out for a little while...but i'm not sitting through some random, boring azz japan vs columbia soccer match.
