Choke is the last man standing.  With that boondoggle of a contract, it's hardly surprising.  Sad that just eight years ago we though the Phillies were on the verge of a potential dynasty with a young core of stars entering their prime together.

because choke came up so late he was basically an mvp candidate from day one so those core guys were more or less all in their prime together before 2008....2008 was the result of gillicks fine tuning...their championship window really should have started earlier

either way its revolting that they only won one title...i dont think a month ever goes by without me getting angry about that

The known prospect the Phillies are getting back is Tommy Bergjans, the Dodgers 8th round pick in the 2015 draft. He was an underslot senior sign out of D III Haverford College. He currently has a 4.98 ERA in the Cal League, but much better underlying numbers in a 2.0 BB/9, 9.2 K/9, and 0.9 HR/9. Per a fairly recent scouting report on BP, Bergjans has 3 fringe average to average pitches with a fastball that sits 89-91. Bergjans does not have a lot of upside, but he might have enough upside to be a middle reliever or up and down starter. He will almost certainly go to Clearwater's rotation.

In total agreement with this.  2011 is inexcusable.  They should have rolled through that post season.  Thank you very much for 08 but that core should have had 2 even 3 over that 07-11 span.

Jeremy Hellickson will be with the Phillies for the remainder of the season.

According to sources, the veteran right-hander was recently claimed on waivers. The Phillies were unable to work out a deal with the claiming team and Hellickson was pulled back, making him ineligible to be traded the remainder of the season.
