jose fernandez is dead

this sucks for: him, his family, his friends, baseball, the world and maybe philadelphia because god damnit they had the money to sign him in 2018

pour one out. he was farging 24.

I read your post and assumed he just needed another Tommy John surgery, because that's the way we talk around here.

PhillyPhreak54

Reminds me of when Tim Crews and Steve Olin died during ST in the 90s.

Dudes girl was pregnant - such a sad story

QB Eagles

He was scheduled to go against the Braves today before the Marlins decided to give him an extra day of rest. Donnie Baseball must be feeling like hell right now.

PhillyPhreak54

Oh man that's right they pushed him back for Conley

If they don't do that he's not out. Rough on Donnie for sure

That is pretty god damned awesome.

PhillyPhreak54

Hell yeah it is.

The greatest. It's a shame he won't call playoff games

I normally never say this because I feel just about everything is overhyped in the media, but I feel like the Jose Fernandez thing isn't getting quite enough coverage. This was one of the best pitchers in baseball, suddenly and shockingly dead at 24. It was a super crowded weekend for sports news (including the death of a golf legend), but still. This was a guy who was going to be a national figure for the next 20 years.

ice grillin you

nobody cares about baseball

pelle lindberghs death...now that was HUGE
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Agreed. It's been in the b block because of Palmer. SC last night did about 30-45 min combined at the top of the show.

Such a sad story. It's comparable to Pedro dying in his early prime

The 1pm NFL games were already the main headline on ESPN.com by the time they came on.

Sgt PSN

In regards to media coverage, he couldn't have died at a worse time. He's "competing" for headlines against:

CFB
NFL
Vin Sully
Arnold Palmer
MLB playoff races

He also played in an awful baseball market, on a team that's out of contention, and was brown.
